Dunno if "significant" but Locke was almost years older than Celes in FF6 and their relationships were complicated because of his complexes and emotional baggage about his inability to save his first love.

It's sadly one of Takahashi's weaker romances which is weird because nigga seems to have a Babel tower shaped Oedipus complex all the way since Xenogears where Fei repeatedly fell in love with a girl who was created to serve as his replacement mother.

I liked them, they had a lot of great scenes in the latter half. They're not as good as Fei and Elly, but that's a high bar, certainly none of the other Xeno games even come close to that.
