we already had a thread OP fucking hell I can't wait any longer
>343 Industries
Into the fucking trash it goes.
>those weapon models
Consoles were a mistake.
Models are mostly low-poly. Play textures, user.
I meant their positioning. It takes up like half the screen.
Because it's right up there with the Doom review from Polygon. The person playing it clearly has no idea how mouse and keyboard works for gaming. It's pretty awful to watch, being hype for it. Still no news, btw.
blame textures and lighting*
Release date?
>no news
We see the game working on PC. that's some news. That means flighting soon.
There should be an FOV slider to help. The real issue is they aren't committed to above 60fps since it might break shit.
This all depends on if they're smart enough to have separate weapon and camera sliders.
June are "flights", aka beta. Each game should take 4-6 weeks. So probably early August since it's the first game to come over. Which absolutely means the entire collection isn't making it this year.
>WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT THIS
Mainly because Halo has never been relevant on PC.
>weapon model takes up half the goddamn screen
fucking disgusting, I hope to god there's an option to center them like in Halo Online
And yet CE still gets a tonne of mod support and TMCC is the third most wishlisted game right now.
CE hasn't gotten any substantial mod content in years on PC.
60fps for a shooter in 2019 is unacceptable
>Ctrl F
>Dedicated servers
>0 of 0
You stupid fucking kikeniggerfaggots. Was there any mention of dedicated servers in that retarded ass long video?
Considering that some of the Eldewrito guys are helping it might happen
I don't know why don't you watch it all and find out?
Why does it look like its being played with a controller?
WOW CENTER OF THE SCREEN JUST LIKE MY OLD GAMES
BASEDFACE.png
Because someone who have already watched it can save me the time, which I only want to find out one question. How is it practical to watch an entire hour for me to find out one simple question, you fucking idiot. Are you 12?
Why i would care for a FPS made for console gamepads?
Because we aren't underaged like you
looks like shit desu
What the fuck is wrong with you?
Just like real life.
Halo TMCC already runs on dedciated servers. Why would they announce that? Every fucking MS game uses Azure.
Fucking hell, that looks so bad on PC.
this is your brain on memes
Something's not right about that mouse. Like even the slightest movement jumps a bunch of pixels but fast movements don't really jump that many pixels. It looks weird, like the sensitivity is all kinds of fucked.
They already showed an option to toggle between the old lower reticle position and the centered one. If they're not fucking around and they let the mod scene take off these games will last for years. Right now it seems like they're trying to avoid another FUBAR launch like the console release of MCC.
I mean traditional use of dedicated servers you fucking autist. That means a server browser and the ability for users to set up or rent servers.
>only game i've been hyped for in the last 10 years is the worst bungie halo on pc
Still slow as shit
Still has that low ass jump height
Still brown as shit
Still has that annoying bloom lighting shining off objects like ODST
Why was that Warthog already destroyed at the start of the mission, the ones with the marines in it that crashed on the bridge?
At least there is no screen tearing, motion blur, frame rate drops, or ghosting.
The viewmodels on those guns are fucking huge, tone them way the fuck down and please don't scale with FOV
I can't wait to play it again, just like 10 years ago, with my brother again, this time, he won't peak all the time when playing split screen, what a fucking douche, but a lovable one.
>Worst Bungie Halo is still better than 99% of modern FPS
SIlver lining and all.
didn't they already nailed the feel of mouse control on Halo 5 forge W10 edition?
at least I think they nailed it
Halo always played like shit on PC, this isn't news.
>post yfw Lone Wolf in HD
Akshually
>bungie intentionally places the reticle lower to force players to look up in order to center it
>this mouth breather spends 90% of his play time looking at the ground
cringing at your comment, my guy
No, it still had the mouse acceleration problem.
I like centered weapons in any game because they take up minimal screen space, suck it zoomer
I have zero confidence in 343. Especially considering how they need to rebalance literally everything for PC. Judging by that footage I'm right.
It's the fucking third-world quality they use to upload the videos
> 70
> console standards
FPS from last gen were around 55 or some shit.
How do they need to rebalance everything? They just need to disable aim assist and make mouse not feel awful like 5's forge mode.
Because I don't want the view models taking up half my screen?
I never played Halo and I don't care about multiplayer garbage. whats the best sp halo?
on every other halo game on PC you can adjust the weapon model
I saw that. The best part is he won't just let it go. Christ 343 is full of sensitive snowflakes.
this doesn't fill me with confidence, if that's the kind of opinion they're basing the port on
halo 1
Halo Reach is the worst Halo. This should even exist nor should people buy it when it comes to PC.
70-90 was the standard. Very few games deviated from that.
is nobody going to talk about this teabag
“It worked in our internal servers, we dont know what happened. Please pay $60 for a broken 5 year old game. Also we arent accepting refunds, if you ask, your account will be banned. Also also, our social media people will disappear for 6 months after release, so be sure to engage with them before its release!”
Fuck 343 and tranny Frank
THANKS FOR BETA TESTING
i dont even care about gaylo
2 - it has best level design, music, and dual-wielding
the only thing I remember about reach, is the ending and the collectors edition diary
That's a huge gap. Name me a single fps console game, besides CSGO and maybe TF2, to have 90º fov.
wrong. chimera has been getting important netcode/mouse accel fixes
ODST was made to be a single player game. All the others are a balance between.
Oh boy
720p is HD
>ya i think we wqant to give people choices
>choices
I WILL NEVER EVER PLAY THIS FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT GAME FUCK THESE DEVS AND FUCK THEIR "CHOICES"
Each Halo varied. 3 was the worst if you compare it to ODST it's real easy to notice. 3 had to be 60-70 something.
Is the reticle centered now?
no, because it looks like a video from 2010
ya that's why the viewmodels are so big apparently cause they're directly tied to the reticle position lol
why did you watch the video that far then?
did they drop a release date?
mixer.com
Video compression on the VOD isn't as shitty as youtube.
It ain't 1993 anymore, grandpas
No.
The whole game looks the same as it's always looked.
they are called WEAPON SPRITES you fucking idiot even gggmanlives i mean ggmanlives oh no i mean gmanlives says they are WEAPON SPRITES you are flat wrong to call them viewmodels
> that quality
Now people understand what they meant by not having a setup for 4K streaming. Their internet or PC is so shitty they had to stream with very small bitrate.
get glasses retard, its centered like CE
jesus christ
wtf is up with this site
June for the beta, 4-6 weeks expected of testing before full release. It's been said mutliple times.
Why would I be interested in old games which I can still play on my 360, especially when Halo 5 exists and is such a leap forward from its predecessors?
lmao ur right brb guys gonna stop browsing Yea Forums.org/v/ so I can go play some Fortnite XD
Because it's PC and you're using m+kb so you should be able to move and react faster with more precision while seeing more on the screen. That means a lot of the game and difficulty has to be re-evaluated since it's a specifically console designed experience. They even acknowledge that in the video.
>why are you not talking about game footage from a game that came out ages ago
huh, i dunno
because
>playing FPS on a gamepad
because now you can play them with real aiming instead of aim assisted controller GARBAGE
you're totally right you know we should just go play Halo 5 with its sprint and ADS instead after all it must be an objective improvement because it's newer
because the movement speed is so slow that anyone aiming with a mouse is not going to miss shots and will score more headshots then they miss.
>especially when Halo 5 exists and is such a leap forward from its predecessors?
>official Halo games
>ever good on PC
because it's 2019 and halo has been irrelevant since 2004
As opposed to unofficial halo games on PC?
When I play Halo, I skip it, my headcanon is that Reach isn't canon, I just play through Halo CE-4's campaigns, I'll make sure I keep skipping it when I get Halo 5 and Halo Infinite on the Xbox Anaconda next year.
yes
3
>Considering that some of the Eldewrito guys are helping it might happen
I'd like a source on that user
ODST and Reach are by far the worst Halo games in the series, wish they were never made, to be honest.
I was talking about FOV but go off based retard
name one (2) games
I question this a lot, I already have the better versions of Halo CE-4 on the Xbox and Xbox 360, when I get an Anaconda I will also get Halo 5 and Infinite. I have Reach but never play it and ODST was a waste of money so I didn't buy it.
can't wait
2>ODST>3>1
Yes, Halo CE on PC got better controls after it got modded, so did Halo 2 and Halo Online.
love how they let the guy who demonstrated the gameplay come on set in a wrinkly oversized tshirt. Then he goes on to say 'whoops' dont mind if Im a little off with this mouse and keyboard here - im usually a controller player. THEN he proceeds to unbalance his keyboard half on and half off of the mousepad. Dont get me wrong, im looking forward to MCC on PC but they couldve really used a competent human to demo their first ever gameplay reveal.....
"Dedicated Servers" and "Server Browser" are not the same thing.
you are such a fucking faggot dude
>I cant wait for some of my friends that worked on the original reach
I FUCKING TOLD YOU
343DRONES BTFO
MICROKEKS BTFO
ANTI BUNGIE BTFO
BUNGIES LAST GAME WAS ACTUALLY ODST FUCK YOURSELVES
343 is legit terrible at just about everything, especially when it comes to the little things.
>Mod to be ODST across the entire library.
Please please please
Give me the run down on Chimera
Halo 5 sucks & Microsoft knows it
What's the one on the middle and right?
Fixes just about every non visual issue the PC port of CE has.
Visual issues can be fixed with a different mod.
Microsoft sees that many people liked Halo 5's multiplayer, they seem to know Halo ODST and Reach sucked though, they even came out and said it at one point.
>has mouse
>aiming as if he has a controller without aim assist
The fuck is going on?
>seasonal unlocks
absolutely homosexual
I'm excited for Halo but I'm reminded about how much I hated BROWN AND BLOOM that plagued most 360 shooters
Yeah man, halo 5 is so well liked by the halo community microsoft told 343 to go back to the mess that was the MCC and fix it three years after launch.
In fact, halo is doing so well under 343 that they're going to show off a nearly 10 year old game that they didn't even make barely running on PC at E3 because they need to show up with something.
right is umatrix
very useful extension
I don't know where this
>video games need a grind for me to play
meme started but holy fuck is it cancer.
ODST was great, the $60 price tag sucked & no ODST MP
They're showing off an Infinite teaser trailer at E3.
ODST sucked
why the FUCK are they starting with reach
This game could run at 30 FPS at like 480p and i'd fucking STILL play it, because holy fuck it's Halo on PC, and anyone who isn't willing to make sacrifices already to play Halo on PC isn't a true Halo fan.
But i'm excited they are going out of their way to make it a good PC port.
marketing came up with it as a way to keep people consuming the same product for longer
Because thats the one reddit wanted first
Halo 4 was my favorite halo and i played all of them on release
Why the fuck are they even adding Reach, why did they even add ODST?
People are more busy talking about Death Stranding, also what gives, Reach was released 9 years ago
stop being fat or i will stab you
Oh cool, just like the one last year?
343 really must be working hard if after a year they only have a teaser to show off. again.
Because being a true Halo fan post 2010 is something to be proud of right?
Halo 3...
We're going home bros....
Canonically
>being a guy
>caring about how you dress
tranny
I think this one is a story teaser, gameplay demo/trailer isn't happening until next year.
I started Halo on the Xbox and that's where I will remain and Reach is shit.
Great strides.
ODST was a pretty good game. Hell, if only one Halo game could come to PC I'd be had pressed to choose between it and Halo 2.
2 is already on PC
ODST wasn't just a pretty good game, it was a great game. The reason why it took place in New Mombasa was because it was supposed to be indirect apology to Halo fans that were disappointed with the E3 Halo 2 not being in the final game.
Shit taste, should be in reverse.
The plebs that keep repeating after gay ecelebs about how 2's story is good because muh theres a story to every side is ungenuine.
Bet you also love game of thrones.
Yeah except Halo didn't run at 720p unless you're talking about Halo 4.
Because it's Halo.
Chronological order for new players on PC.
Did 3 and Reach not manage to hit that? What were they running at?
They're already working on the Xbox version too.
Halo CE was the reason I spent more than a decade ranting about how shit Halo is on Yea Forums. It wasnt until I played 2 when an user dropped a download for it that I realized that CE was just a black sheep and that the others were actually good
3 ran at 1152x640. Reach ran at 1152x720 with some sort of temporal AA which might technically qualify for 720p since there's 720 vertical lines but it's not really what people think when they say 720p.
Were talking SP, and 2 is the worst of them all.
Not understanding CE's MP either is a sign of being a faggot.
I was talking about the SP, CE had the best race maps
It was a half-assed experience with gimped gameplay, it was very boring and short. It was clear Bungie already gave it their all with Halo CE-3 because there was none left after.
Already played it. When's this thing come out, anyway? I just want to play shitty custom games on infuriating maps with friends already.
2's worse than 3 and 1 and It's on debate on whether it's better or worse than Halo 4's campaign, it's better than ODST, Reach, and 5 though.
>t's better than ODST
you are WRONG
WROOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG
I won't deny it was short, but it had some great visuals, a great OST and was an interesting experience playing as a more "normal" human.
Halo played slower to accommodate controllers. It's gonna feel like fucking shit with kb+m
ODST sucked, don't know why anyone likes it.
Gameplay was lacking, this is where it's important to Halo over everything else, you were also just a gimped Spartan, Bungie should have actually taken the time to make you feel like a human.
>they seem to know Halo ODST and Reach sucked though
>ODST sucked
The price sucked but ODST was a great fucking game you fag.
ODST is just more halo 3 content, dont why anyone could dislike it.
Has 343 said if we can mod mcc on pc for online play? Assuming online works?
Is there Forge for all of the games?
Is Halo 5 included in this? Or is Microsoft still being weird about the latest Halo being on PC?
The xbox version of mcc is ass for online still because its broken and lack of a playerbase.
I hope this doesnt have that on pc(assuming it works and russians dont have to fix everything and run the game on a cryptomining server again)
Literally, the only thing you can fucking say about ODST was
>muh OST
>muh atmosphere
>muh not Spartan, even though I'm a gimped Spartan with bad grenade arc
>muh Nathan Fillion
The game really didn't offer anything, campaign was short, gameplay was slow and boring, open levels were empty, it was dark as shit, when it was daylight it looked like brown shit and yellow piss, bloom lighting on objects up the ass, you still feel like a Spartan, one of the worst final levels in the series to date. It sucked.
halowaypoint.com
Account Level Progression
>Starting with the release of Halo: Reach, all matches played on dedicated servers will award profile XP. This includes matchmade PVP multiplayer and matchmade PVE Firefight experiences. XP will be earned regardless of which specific Halo title is played.
>XP will be awarded based on medals earned in the match under the banner of two categories – performance and teamwork. At the end of the match, the category and XP value for each medal earned will be displayed.
>There will also be a bonus for completing matches. XP will be capped in each match to encourage repeated and active play within each game.
>Why dedicated server matches only? Security. We want to ensure players legitimately earn the rewards that are on offer. In the future, we will look for additional ways to ensure players in a wider range of scenarios have a path to earning rewards.
Seasons and Unlockables
>In the future, MCC will include the concept of game seasons, each with a unique theme. In addition to an overarching account level system, players will have the opportunity to unlock seasonal based rewards. Attaining certain account levels or completing challenges will award in-game seasonal points, which can be spent to unlock rewards, such as armor pieces, Halo: Reach Firefight voices, and nameplates.
>Seasonal points are an in-game award. There will be many tiers of seasonal unlocks, and each tier can include several items. Tiers are unlocked by spending seasonal points and each tier must be unlocked before the next tier is available.
>We will not be applying this progression system retroactively to lock content that exists in MCC today. Anything that is unlocked in MCC today will be unlocked in the same way – either available by default or via an achievement unlock.
Could be worse, but it could still be a lot better. Seasonal content sucks for people that don't play the same game every day.
It was Halo 3 content locked on a shitty expansion, had to wait a year just to get the final Halo 3 maps, felt like a scam.
>Halo 5 exists and is such a leap forward from its predecessors
Tom French here. I am in charge of Halo 5: Guardian's multiplayer and Halo: Infinite's multiplayer. REQs will come at some point. The forge and custom games, have never been better. The sheer amount of things you can come up with is endless and offers hours upon hours of content.
H5 brings back even starts, as well as map pickups, AND restores the golden triangle by not having an additional damage/sandbox element like equipment or armor abilities. And while it adds new base player abilities, 2 had already done that, so none of that should be "inherently un-halo", especially since most of 5's new abilities actually enhance the "emphasis on platforming" part. If anything, Halo 5 is more classic Halo then Halo 3 is.
Halo 5 is for the competitive crowd. Esports is the best thing Halo has going for it right now
If you Bungie cock suckers want to play Halo 3 then go play the old game. Halo 2 was broken jank that was balanced like shit. That's why we are keeping MCC alive to keep hipster fans like you in there. We gave you Halo 2 Anniversary multiplayer, a new classic game, and you didn't want it.
The combat needs to evolve. Tom "go play Halo Custom Edition if you want classic halo" French is in charge now.
Halo 4 was my least favorite halo and i played all of them on release
You sound like Tom French but I know you're not Tom French and I agree with you and him.
Why would PC gamers want to play Halo games when they have all those other Legendary 1st Person shooters that aren't baby tier?
But he's right. Why berate somebody for no reason? What an asshole. Go back.
Only 1 person in this 200 post thread realizing that this guy is using a controller?
did yall lose your wits?
Because Reach single handedly killed the multiplayer playerbase permanently, and was a steaming pile of shit that I will be skipping along with 3 (3 is just a slow paced halo 2 with shittier maps) to play 1 and 2, which I already do on project cartographer currently.
>sprint is a get out of jail free card for poor positioning
>maps were supersized to accomodate for sprint (a small Reach map is equivalent to a med-large 1-3 map), negating any supposed speed benefit, and adding pointless sequences of running from point A to point B just to get to the action in these giant maps
>plus it lead to double melee spam since they removed bleed through for no reason
>headshots no longer did more damage when shielded, reducing the skill gap and therefore the potential to improve and grow as a player
>movement speed and jump height were reduced, and rather than instantly changing direction, you would gradually slow down, stop, then accelerate in the opposite direction. This turned 1v1's into a "who shot first", whereas in the past, a good player could be 2-3 down but still have a chance thanks to creative use of jumping/crouching/ghandi hops/strafing
>grenade launcher was actually amazing for the competitive and casual scene so ill give them that
>bloom slowed the game to a crawl at long range, and gave the potential to reward poor play at close range, and added randomness to the only modern console shooter that separated itself by having balanced arena combat
>vehicles were made of paper, team DMR fire could take down a banshee/warthog etc within seconds, rendering them pointless to use unless you fight retards
>DMR killed BTB map movement since it was a cross mapping god, if it was a map pickup power weapon lite like the PP it would have worked perfectly
>armor lock literally pauses the game while you wait for the inevitable
I can keep going if anyone wants to know more about why the playerbase abandoned this pile of shit after only a year
>all those other Legendary 1st Person shooters
Such as?
You mean trash from the 90's?
Dont make me laugh.
pc has so few games that pc players get excited over a port of a game that is LITERALLY 18 years old
Halo 2 implemented a ton of features that were all broken and was released as really broken and buggy game. Halo 3 was a polished turd. Halo CE = Reach, while ODST was a let down only because I literally playing a reskinned masterchief and it felt nothing like being a normal not super soldier.
You are wearing moljnir and doing all the shit you do throughout halo, only to get ODST and feel exactly the same. I was expecting rainbow six: ODST, not a model swap of halo 3. Being a human with none of the crazy shit and all the did was say, "you are master chief, but like you can't duel wield lol" fuck that garbage game. Reach had more going for squad mechanics than ODST did.
liking halo 2 is comparable to the fags who like Dark souls 2.
This, Reach's campaign was shit too.
>WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT THIS
cause no one was asking for Reach. everyone is waiting for Halo 3.
So you have shit taste, what of it?
>Halo CE = Reach
Why would you insult CE like this?
zoomer plz
>I can keep going if anyone wants to know more about why the playerbase abandoned this pile of shit after only a year
What about the title update and Halo CEA update?
DaS 2 was good and so was Halo 2
Faggot
So whens the beta?
Already played it years ago and I'm not gonna pay for it again. Doesn't mean I won't play it on PC also ;)
Halo CE was a good game with huge environments, alien shit, and physics. Halo Reach plays comparable bringing back the shield AND health to boot, while sprinkling in guns and the idea of working with a squad rather than solo.
I felt Reach was more of a return to what I felt halo did best before it attempted to be call of duty with its sequels.
Because Halo might be able to revive the custom servers of old. CS and TF2 have been the only FPS games in the last 10 years to still have living customs communities and lately those communities have been flat-lining
3 and ODST since theblatter is basically an expansion.
El Dorado had fully customisatble viewmodels, you could even have them like the original doom shit was tight as fuck. shame that TMC will just be a shittier version.
get out
Halo CE was great, Reach was shit.
Member when Halo was bad and we called him Captain King?
Might aswell brag about how you had chess back in the day and how good it was compared to video games
Because everyone and their dog has already played it, and know it will be good, we're just waiting for it to come out
see
already posted in this thread.
>While matchmaking will focus on TU settings, both TU and vanilla variants will be built-in and selectable from the Custom Game lobby.
bait
>with huge environments
more like one huge environment that was mostly empty space, one large level that was a transition space between copypasta corridor dungeons and one level that was just an MP map with AI placed on it that was also a transition point for copyapasta corridor dungeons. Everything else was just straight corridors
>>user never played Battle Chess in any of it's releases
THANK YOU. Halo Reach was fucking dogshit and such a step back from Halo 3, which was already a step back from Halo 2 but not nearly to the same extent.
I really hope the playerbase as well as 343i focus on Halo 2 Anniversary for multiplayer.
Amiga version or bust
This, I hope Halo CE, 2, 3, 2A, and even 4 for that matter get more players than Reach.
because they want to start with the best game faggot
>Reach
>best game
Face it, all the kids that were 8-12 when Reach released are 17-22 and will make up the majority of purchasers of MCC. In another 2 years it will be acceptable to like Halo 4
damn right
I remember those days. By the time they released those updates the playerbase had already died and moved on. The only people that actually knew about it were those who were on forums like waypoint, but that's only a tiny sliver of the fanbase. and while the title update fixed bloom, it still couldnt fix the deeply ingrained flaws with the player movement anyway. Also if you played CE:A Reach multiplayer, it really didn't feel right. It was trying to emulate CE in Reach, but CE is a smooth fast paced console arena fps, and Reach is slow and plagued by movement acceleration. Also, i dont think they got the clip size right on the magnum but i might be remembering that wrong. it was still better than vanilla tho. Also more things wrong with Reach:
>jetpack completely negates the concept of map control (inb4 "hurr durr it makes you a sitting duck" if you are a retard, then yes, but a semi-competent seventh grader like myself back in 2010 was smart enough to abuse it and carry my team by completely ignoring the opponents good positioning)
>maps were unmemorable garbage aside from Zealot, and even that is based off of a Halo 2 map
>XP system in 3 actually required you to win and penalized quitting, EXP in Reach rewards you for losing, even being afk, and if you were even somewhat good all your opponents would quit, or your whole team would leave since quitting had no punishment, except for when theyd ban you for 20 minutes if you quit an obscene amount of games in a row
>they perfected nades in 2/3, then completely butchered them with the return of mini-nukes
>if you wanted to play on a good map, it had to be Zealot or be completely grey
>evade worked great as a map pickup, too bad they went with loadouts further making Halo more of a random generic shooter. according to Reach fags on Waypoint back in 2010-2012, making things the same as everybody else while taking away what made the series great is necessary because "Halo had to evolve"
Because we have played those games, we haven't played Halo 3 again in like 10 years & no one wants an Xbox One
nerds mad because halo 4 isnt actually as bad as they think
It was like Bungie weren't even trying to make a Halo game.
enjoy your multiplayer
This, not even Halo 5 is as bad as some people think.
He's literally acting like a fag to get upvotes, got I hate that place. If it were twitter it would have been some sort of funny + sassy comeback.
There's only 3 things that matter in a halo game, custom games, multiplayer, and singleplayer. Halo 4 didn't have two of those and the third was completely removed by Halo 5.
It wasn't bad but Halo 3 had more epic gamer moments for me. I like everything about 3 more than 4. The bells and whistle load outs they threw in really tilted Halo away from Halo which was vastly exacerbated by 343. I was a beast in 3 so I may be biased.
Are spartan 2s taller a spartan 3s?
I know George towers over the others but I thought that maybe hes just a big guy even among spartan 2s but I am not sure.
>tfw no 7foot tall spartan gf
>cosmetic progression is capped by seasonal unlocks
What the fuck.
>bro it's ok it's just cosmetics
The worst part is I legit don't have a counter argument other than fuck you I wanna play dress up
>XP will be capped in each match to encourage repeated and active play within each game.
Basically communism.
I'm rereading the blog and it might actually be a tree-based progression. See pic related. You start off at the left and work your way towards the right.
>It was like Bungie weren't even trying to make a Halo game.
Bungie isn't one person. Each Halo game had different gameplay designers.
Did you know that the original plan for the Halo 2 multiplayer wasn't even what we ended up with, they wanted to do a Halo 5 Warzone like mode?
Max Hoberman had to argue to get the normal multiplayer mode in. Bungie didn't really take it seriously though, they all nicknamed Max's version of multiplayer "party game".
Max and his team kept working on the multiplayer while everything else fell apart. The people working on Warzone ended up getting nowhere so Bungie decided by dump it and make Max's multiplayer mode the main multiplayer.
Basically, the only reason the multiplayer turned out fine was because Max and his team kept on working while the rest of the studio was in a crisis.
youtube.com
It's funny because Bungie originally hated The Fall of Reach and ODSTs because they weren't the ones to come up idea but later on they ended up making games about both of them.
The tree system was fucking dumb in 7 and the fact that it was part of the multiplayer was just the shit cherry on top
They did it with the console version back in the day too. In the first month of release the Ltn. Colonel rank was the highest you could go to give the lesser people a chance.
This happened with CE too, I'm happy leveled heads were in charge of Halo CE-3 to keep the dumb shit out, too bad for ODST and Reach though.
Frankly it's a miracle bungie ever managed to get anything done. Literally every development cycle is full of stories about how nobody was on the same page about anything.
Hate to break it to you guys, but 3 and Reach WILL dominate because thats what all the babbies grew up with. Most people my age are the "remember 3 and Reach good ol days" type of people. I've turned a few people onto Halo 2 quite easily since the second I load up lockout the fast paced twitchy action blows 3/Reach/4 out of the water. I didn't bother with 5 because sprint has no place in halo for the reasons i mentioned before, and if they made it work well, that also means they turned it into a new game entirely. While Reach started the destruction i can still call it a better game than 4 because while 4 fixed bloom, it took everything bad about Reach, nothing good like nade launcher, and removed map pickups which destroyed map flow, map control, and discouraged map movement. It's been years since I was on Reach but I can prob come up with more reasons why its trash
>Sage happened (lol i remember when everyone blamed him back then)
>they removed 1-50, trueskill didn't work, especially with the dwindling playerbase after a year, and arena was broken at first because you ranked up by kill whoring rather than winning with your team
>ill give them props for making the magnum super powerful again tho
>they kept the spartan laser despite the fact that vehicles were paper, somehow making useless vehicles more useless
>firefight used to be a brutal test of teamwork against the odds, yet all firefight matchmaking was a grunt birthday party slaughter fest to grind easy credits
>Countdown was a jogging simulator
>Boardwalk was probably the most unfair asymmetric since High Ground, yet they used it in 4v4 deathmatch and 2 flag/bomb varients
>Bumper jumper was neutered since you had to choose between that or getting max abuse out of jetpack
>Halo is unique in that it is 1 gun centric, and your skill with that 1 gun greatly determines your worth as a player (god pistol/br), but the DMR required little map movement
That's what happens when microsoft hands you a blank check and 3-4 years
How does Halo Wars play on PC? Is the game any good?
Never played it before so I figured I might play it in the leadup to the MCC on PC.
>Sage happened (lol i remember when everyone blamed him back then)
Give me a run down on Sage?
I wasn't too fond of how they treated customs initially, but it wasn't that shitshow 4 became.
Its a slower C&C1. MP is decent but the campaign is only serviceable
He tried to turn Halo into Shadowrun, but in a halfassed way because he was too much of a pussy to change Halo's gameplay entirely.
2 or 1? I know 1 is pretty much a straight port with very little consideration for PC controls, radial menus and the like everywhere. I imagine 2 is the same.
Really they're both pretty poor RTS games that are only notable for being halo themed and decent to play on a console.
wait, this won't have community run servers?
because halo is fucking garbage
not capped as such, in the livestream they said explicitly that you can still earn previous season unlocks.
Who were the multiplayer designers for Halo 1, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 4?
>but the campaign is only serviceable
Eh, in that case I'll skip it.
There's a sequel? Didn't even know.

Talking about this?
>Seasonal unlocks and any unspent season points will not disappear when the season rotates. Players will be able to go back and unlock items from a previous season, though they must be unlocked in order. The first season and its unlockables will all be centered on Halo: Reach, though as mentioned, players will be able to earn season points and XP by playing other games in MCC as well.

>not launching Halo 3, the game literally everybody wants, first.
So day 1 of release only some of the armor pieces will be available, while the rest will be locked away until their season comes by to unlock it?

The game is not an RTS. It's whoever can max pop one specific unit the fastest.
You got 10 tanks first? You win.

Hardly. 2 is full of weird fucking decisions, most of which are annoying to play against.

Firefight was very fun, and i'm pretty sure it came with a second disc that had the halo 3 multiplayer so I included that.
at this point I don't remember exactly why everyone was mad at him, I just remember he was the meme back then and everyone blamed him for turning Halo into a generic class picking slow paced super power shooter
mine is older, I replayed the games and yours is pretty based bro except i'd switch halo wars 1 and 2
>Seasonal points are an in-game award.
I don't get this. So cosmetics are locked behind tiers that you have to unlock using points from leveling or dailies/weeklies. At the same time everything is available to be unlocked Day 1 of release, you just have to put the effort in. But they keep using this "seasonal" term and it's making me think something is happening on a weekly/monthly basis. Are they referring to the dailies/weeklies?
>I don't know who did 3

Its not that bad now is it? just a overly sensitive guy protecting his buddies honor, tho the pc guy probably doesn't give a shit. I would be more triggered if they were on about women's rights or something like that, or if they removed something, even the smallest detail from the original game on release because it would be too offensive nowadays.
>Are spartan 2s taller a spartan 3s?
yes. 2s are also taller than 4s
Fuck you
>It was also Max.
Why did he leave?
It wasn't, he was in the special thanks. Lars Bakken was Halo 3's MP designer.
To start his own company.

I rate HW2 over 1 purely on the merits of its multiplayer, it's not just a race to population cap anymore.
From what I understand, they will be adding in new cosmetics (see ) and those are the "seasonal" content. Everything that is currently available in the MCC on XBONE can be unlocked normally, though.
One will protect you, the others will try to kill you

Wow. Halsey please come back to the spartan program and give us more giant girls.
fuck off normalfag
not him but the reason I hate them is because they love to shit on Reach and 4 (the two shittiest games in the series), yet they are completely blind to the flaws of Halo 3, like the fact that it started Halo on the trend of being slug paced, the fact that they ruined the BR with random spread and scrapped hitscan, which meant latency fucked everything, the spartan laser turned vehicles into death traps against a good team, but at least they werent made of paper like reach, they kept the BR as them most powerful weapon, but made everything else weaker, there were great maps, but for every Guardian and Pit there was a Snowbound and Isolation etc
>2 before 3
>as if 3 isn't just halo 2 but slug paced and floaty with shittier maps and a random inconsistent BR
You gotta give them names user
>Future seasons will focus on the other games in MCC and will include new content.
Was meant to be added on as well. Forgot to paste it in.
Fixed
>bloom slowed the game to a crawl at long range, and gave the potential to reward poor play at close range, and added randomness to the only modern console shooter that separated itself by having balanced arena combat
Bloom was less awful then 3's random spread. Bloom at least could be mtiigiated via shot pacing, was shown on your reticule, and helped some guns like autos. 3's bullshit spread on everything was always there and wasn't counteractable, was invisible in the UI, and hurt everything it affected.
Also the title update didn't actually fix bloom, it just removed it, which acted as an effectve buff to precision weapons which made the DMR broken, it could outright outshoot the sniper and focus rifle at long range afterwards.
>Halo is unique in that it is 1 gun centric, and your skill with that 1 gun greatly determines your worth as a player (god pistol/br)
This isn't a feature, it's a bug, and it's the single worst flaw almost all the Halo games have. It completely defeats the point of the two weapon limit. The only reason it was like this in CE was because the pistol was made too OP at the last second right before the game launched, nd even then each gun had it's own purpose and was worth using.
It's only in Halo 2 that you truly have this one guy meta become a thing, and it was due to bad weapon balance of the autos being trash and the BR having lik 4 exploits which made it utterly broken. Halo games need a utility weapon, so that players, if skilled enough, can turn the tides even if the other team has power weapons, but it doesn't need to be the only gun worth using in 99% of situations. The only Halo games that even came close to this was Pre TU Halo 5, Pre TU Reach, and CE.
At least post the version without blown out audio and shit video quality.

>the same fucking guy every thread
see
Bloom was an improvement over 3's spread and the TU didn't actually fix it, it just sidestepped it and made worse issues in the process
Also wanna say something else; I'm a 2fag as well (despite me shitting on it's weapon balance in , it's my one issue with the game), but as a 2fag, 5 reminds me of 2 a lot, and I think you should give it a try. Especially if you disable all the new movement systems, it basically just plays like a faster, better balanced Halo 2.
That being said, sprint is also a lot less awful in 5 then in 4, they tied shields to sprint so if you sprint, your shields stop recharing and won't start again for a full second after sprinting stops, so you can't use it to run away from encounters, and some of the other movement shit actually works well with halo's gameplay
They are all also base player traits so it doesn't break even starts, unlike armor abilities. Loadouts are gone as well.

shocker, isn't it?
What I said about bloom is true. It's not nearly as bad as 3's spread and the only reason it gets as much shit as it does is because it was actuially obvious so retards whined about it vs them not even realizing it was a thing in past halo games and 3 especially.
Not saying bloom is good, it's not, and it doesn't function the way it was intended to, but it's less awful then 3's spread was
>somebody who's obsessed with halo and has shit opinions is posting in a halo thread
Maybe Bungie shouldn't have made it such a shit game.
Maybe you should, Reach was shit and I put it where it belongs.
Halo 3 was more polished and less broken, still loved Halo 2 though.
>Lars Bakken
Did he leave after Halo 3?
Even snakes yawn? Does everything yawn?
The DMR is going to be stupid fucking busted.
I hate to say it, but people should honestly make plebbit and twitter accounts just to cream (politely) at 343 so they reconsider using TU settings. Not that pre-TU settings are good either, but maybe they can do a brand new one which actually removes the randomess from bloom without removing the incenvtize to pace your shots
if my opinions are so shit then explain what's wrong with them you faggot. I already outlined the specific way 3's spread was worse.

This is when they start to talk about the seasonal unlocks. Essentially each "season" is the period between the release of games in the MCC on PC. So Season 1 would roughly last until Halo CE comes out.
looks fucking great. Kind of makes me mad they want to get every single "feature" implemented. Fuck multiplayer, fuck armor customization, fuck invasion. Getting the campaign running in 4k 60FPS HDR with raw mouse input is all I want, and that's been available since march. FUCK
whoops, meant to reply to here
If you need mulitple hours to refute 3 basic points then you probably are wrong anyways
I'm not even acknowledging your points because I know you have no argument and break down like a little piss baby
honestly, playing Halo 1-2-3-ODST-Reach in that order is about as good as single player FPS campaigns get.
t. Doomfag boomer
halo has always been about multiplayer user, I don't even know what your talking about
I already posted my fucking arguement you retard
>Bloom can be avoided via shot pacing, unlike spread in 3
>Bloom is shown in your reticule, unlike spread in 3
>Bloom had a postive impact on specific guns like the AR, unlike spread in 3
Everybody has a diffnerent opinion
IMO
2 > ODST > Reach > 3 > CE > 4 > 5 for single player, though it's debatable
you faggots are retarded, Dmr sucks dick because the game revolves around plinking each other from 2 miles away instead of close combat melee-nades-90% of the weapons viable at that range
Dmr literally killed Blood Gultch in reach for instance
BRs in 2 killed it first
fuck off I actually like having my opinions challenged and enjoy talking about halo
>Bloom was less awful then 3's random spread
what they did to the BR in 3 is one of the reasons I don't go back to it, and i completely understand your point in that while bloom is annoying, it is transparent about it. id take the random BR over the massive slow down from shot pacing along with spamming randomness however
>Also the title update didn't actually fix bloom, it just removed it
I shouldn't have worded it like this, I didn't mean to state it as if removing bloom fixed everything. Many people wanted to slow the DMR rate of fire, but I think that's backwards when Reach is already so slow. If they just reduced zoom and range so it couldn't cross map like a sniper id be fine. Of course, automatics get fucked over but to be honest, they could completely remove them from halo and I would actually be happy about it. I like the 1 gun centric play, but that is just personal preference
>This isn't a feature, it's a bug
well, a bug would be a problem with the code. it would be more accurate to say that it is a result of poor balancing, but that poor balancing ended up accidentally creating a playstyle that hooked me and a lot of competitive halo players. I actually enjoyed the idea of having my bread and butter weapon as my workhorse to get to the power weapons. I don't know any other games that do this, but i love it, despite the fact that it was a result of poor design. to me, their fuck up created a masterpiece in my eyes
>It completely defeats the point of the two weapon limit
how? you have 1 slot for your bread and butter gun, then another for the power weapon you fought to get with it
this shit doesn't make any sense. in all shooters you point and click. Being handicapped by analog sticks never, ever helps. How is it worse with kb+m? Explain one aspect of the mechanics that are hampered by good aiming.
t. console babby
console babies didnt get to play CE online though
>It's only in Halo 2 that you truly have this one guy meta become a thing
I remember in CE the AR could be a beast, and plasma based weapons served their purpose of taking down shields well, but the reason I gravitated to the mlg playlist was because in my eyes, they removed all the fluff and let me focus on what to me, are the most fun weapons to use. I don't get the appeal of the automatics, to me they are skilless and boring to use. I feel satisfied when i get a 4 shot with a BR, not when i just hold my giant reticule on a guy. I can't say that 1 gun centric is objectively superior, as it is just my personal preference for halo and i havent found another game that provides the same experience. But so long as it is balanced starts, 1 gun centric or every weapon being useful is fine in my book. The BR and god pistol are so addicting that i can never get tired of them
who cares, only boomers like 2
halo 3 with decent viewmodel/normal fov would be the best of the best desu
Combat in halo should be close to lowmid with everything expect sniper rifles since that's far more exciting and the melee/grenade/ on button combat encourages it
Fuck the DMR and any DMR apologists
Reach would be on 3 level if they didn't add that shit, and just said fuck it to the rifle category and buff the pistol to go medium instead.
>Fuck 343 and tranny Frank
Frank O'Connor is a known liar
>“Every novel that you’ve read in the last couple of years, every comic book, the Terminals in Halo Anniversary […] everything is feeding directly into the story for the next Halo trilogy.” [Frank O’Connor, Halo Fest 2011 – Halo 4 Panel (2:50)]
>find yourself in this incredible alien place, and you look up in the sky, and you see the other side of the Halo, and you think, ‘I want to go there.’ That’s what we wanted to bring back.
>“I think the difference in Halo 5 is that there are eight people you have to do that with, and for them to not simply be clones of the Chief moving around in that space, we had to properly characterize them. And that meant, because it ends up being more of a social experience, we had to make sure that the characters were actually reflecting each other and not simply ignoring each other.”
>Frankie confirms he wrote most of the story and script for Halo: Reach
>Frank says we'll get to fight something "waaaaay" bigger than a Scarab in a "wide open area with lots of routes and strategies in Halo 5"
>Frank 'Connor: "It will continue the story from Halo 5: Guardians but will be built in a way that makes it a good place to start your first halo adventure. It will take place after the events of Halo 5 but feel new to new players. Remember how Halo CE woke you up in the middle of a war you had apparently been fighting?"
I was born in 98 and 2 is the only one I like
you don't want to mess up the big day, you want rehearsals first, smooth out the launch progress
>I like the 1 gun centric play, but that is just personal preference
No offense to you user, but if this is how you feel then I don't think there's much to be gained from us debating this. The fact that the Halo series, doesn';t seem to value wanting to make it's whole weapon sandbox useful or reward skilled usage with anything but it's precision weapons is easily my biggest issue with the series, and always eats away at me whenever I play the games.
>want to play halo badly
>remember I won't be able to lock hundreds of hours on them, wasting days playing it, simply because I have a ((life)) now and I'm not a kid/teenager anymore
than why are you in a reach hype thread user?
and you have shit taste, 2 isn't the worse game and I grew up with 1 on its tailend with 2 just coming out, and I still think 3 is the best
>no more late night halo games with your friend until 4am because you both have jobs now
when you won't be able to finish the fight on pc for another year after a decade of waiting
>Bloom was less awful then 3's random spread. Bloom at least could be mtiigiated via shot pacing, was shown on your reticule, and helped some guns like autos. 3's bullshit spread on everything was always there and wasn't counteractable
This is where you are wrong. BR spread is mitigated in a couple ways. Competitive settings increase the global damage settings 10%, and this smooth's out the damage spread of the H3 BR and makes 4shotting more consistent. The H3 BR only gets random if you aim too high. Halo 3's problems have more to do with its netcode not being good enough to support BR spread on top of bullet travel.
Bloom being mitigateable by shot pacing is irrelevant, because you put yourself at a statistical disadvantage if you do it at mid and short range, which means every 4v4 map. There is no tactical decision to be made between pacing and not in default Reach, because you are simply more likely to win every DMR fight if you don't bother pacing. The TU actually makes pacing statistically more viable than it is in default Reach.
I suppose I could give 5 a try, and I probably would have if i hadn't switched to PC gaming after 4. Even if it works well, I can never see it as a "Halo" game in the traditional sense. To me it boggles my mind how much they were willing to alter to accomodate this one feature that wasn't even necessary, rather than just remove it and go back to what already worked. Still, I'll keep this in mind if they ever have a pc release. theres no doubt in my mind that halo 5 might be a great game, but I feel like it might be unsettling to see how much the franchise i loved has changed into something so different, whether it's fun or not
Because custom games in TF2 and CS are dying and Reach Around might be able to build a new custom games community
>halo wars this low
sorry user, but you got shit taste
I'd say shit bait but look at all the (You)s you're getting good job user
For fucks sake. Reach's TU settings are 85% bloom and not 0% bloom. Get your information right before you start shitposting.
you alright in my book user
saxton hale servers might as well be extinct, I don't want to fucking play 24/7 highertower 10x ffs
>centralized crosshair
Looking back at the changes between the retail and the title update, mainly the bloom, I'm inclined not to get Reach on PC. I really did like the bloom and felt that the pacing of shots was an important gameplay mechanic. Looking at footage of the TU update just shows that they completely removed it. The reticule does not change at all.
youtu.be
>but if this is how you feel then I don't think there's much to be gained from us debating this
Well, it's not like you have to turn me to the other side or anything. To me, having someone give me a chance to change my way of thinking, or question my own ideas is something gained. Getting to talk about Halo down to its mechanics is great since most people here are either SP players who have different gameplay concerns, or they aren't "hardcore" and don't really think about these issues when playing
there is no console game in existence that has 91 fov
The best thing about this is that WE'LL FINALLY GET TO PLAY REACH'S DLC MAPS IN MATCHMAKING!!!!!!
>that's why it died within a month, and reach was repopulated instead

I enjoy Invasion, but the majority of default Reach is a dumpster fire. The maps are shit, AAs are shit, the sandbox is shit, bloom is shit, and it rightfully got shit on for all of this and a lot more.
lmao
This.
The Wars games are alright too.
why are they releasing the worst game first?
I'm becoming more and more nervous about the Reach release. A few things today did not bode well like the season approach to unlocks or the TU for almost all of Reach (TU was almost as flawed as vanilla, they should at least change some of it if it will be the default for almost all of PC Reach). However the biggest thing that worries me is the phrase:
>Coming after launch
The more and more shit they add to post-launch the less likely it is they'll follow through. Mod support, splitscreen, fixing Halo CE, importing Custom Edition content, cross play, ODST firefight, and so on have all been mentioned. I really doubt most of this will be added.
idk user, game almost put me to sleep, felt like a never ending slog, that last bit with the generators was a real letdown
because reddit doesn't like 1-5 the most even though all 5 are leaps ahead of reach
here you go bro
I'm actually glad that Invasion is keeping the old settings instead of the TU ones since It's more fun as an unbalanced mess. Wished they would bring back Green vs Purple colours from the Beta as well. Also pretty stoked that the anniversary maps are in from the start since Reach default maps are mostly trash.
>defending Reach
You're the problem.
>4 and 5 are leaps ahead of Reach
Leaps ahead of the cliff Reach put us next to, sure.
if you swapped 2 and odst that would be spot on
I'm glad the Halo subreddit is small, fuck those guys.
seethe reach kiddie
Reach deserves all the shit it gets, but Halo 4 and 5 are so bad 343 should just be liquidated. Seethe more CoD refugee.

Halo peaked at 2.
Reminders that those who hate Halo 5 are trash at competitive multiplayer and where never above rank 30 in Halo 3 and prefer using the assault rifle over the magnum/BR/DMR
that's untrue and you know it. Classic halo is leaps and bounds better than every after modern warfare.
4 and 5 are infinitely worse games.
> To me, having someone give me a chance to change my way of thinking, or question my own ideas is something gained
And I can apperciate that, trust me, i've said almost this exact sentence to other people before, so I guess I'll do my best.
On a basic level, I just think it's good weapon balance to have each gun be effective, and to be worth using in enough situations that it comes up somewhat often in play. Like, in a fighting game, it's bad balance if only 1-2 of the characters are worth using. Yes, you COULD have a fighting game meta where there's only 1-2 viable characters and it's still super rewarding and fun to play, so to an extent I can appercitate your stance, but ideally there'd be more then that. It's also just boring to me to use the same guns in Halo over and over again: It feels sterile. Now, again, I play fighting games, and I've played like 4000 hours of certtain ones only as a specific character, so to an extent I can get not minding it, but at the same time a character in a fighting game has multiple moves": Guns just shoot. It's far more interesting to switch weapons and expierence different types of aplystyles throughout the match, or to change MY playstyle in response to what weapons I wanna use.
Beyond that, Halo's weapon limit was introduced to force players to make hard choices about what weapons they carry. If there's a single utility weapon that's good in all situations and is better then many other weapons in their own niche, then there's little point in having to switch up your weapons in response to the situation. There's an arguement to be made that this sort of approach to balance is better suited to loadfout based shooters, where you CAN freeily pick your weapon, wheras Halo is pickjup based so you need to be able to be versatile, but I don't think it needs to be mutially exclusive: With the right on map weapon placements, and your spawn weapons being designed right, having this same sort of system is doable.

Sorry, Halo belongs to Xbox. Better controls, better graphics, better community, and best multiplayer service (no lag, etc.). Just my opinion, so cope!

I thought the lower reticule placement was to prevent headglitching
I miss the creepy jackals from CE

It's a trend. MP leads leave after a single game.
I absolutely agree with you about the weapon balance. It has always irked me that people insist on making the Magnum/BR/DMR the go to and most useful weapon by far. I'm fine with them being good, maybe even the best in skilled hands for all arounding but other weapons should all fill a decent sized niche. The original intent of bloom was to make AR good for close to medium range and DMR good for medium to long range, for example. Eldewrito really showed me the horror of a single weapon focused Halo. 3's BR was already busted but adding in M&K while also buffing it (hitscan, faster firerate) killed the game. Every map became BR spam with less movement possible then in CoD. If Halo is to work on PC, 343 really needs to make new balance changes to reflect the better accuracy of M&K.
this... puts a smile on my face
Or just keep the viewmodel consistent regardess of FOV. Plenty of games already do this.
your opinion is shit, and it sounds like you are the one who can't deal with people who think you're a retard
So much kino in a single poster.
>Emphasis on the word "play"
That's all we need. Less politics, more game.
I feel like a 1.2x speed boost wouldn't hurt the game much, might make the tighter maps play weird but most Halo maps SP and MP are pretty large so I dont see the problem
>The original intent of bloom was to make AR good for close to medium range and DMR good for medium to long range
Bloom did nothing for the DMR but allow its range to be brought closer in. When you're up close, your targets fill up more of your reticle so there's less, if any, need to pace your shots. It was a good addition to the automatics, but ultimately unnecessary for single-shot precision weapons. Just make them fire slower if you're worried about nerfing them at long range.
that would almost be worse. You have to currently mod wolfenstein and doom on PC to change the weapon FOV even though there's FOV sliders otherwise. It fucking pisses me off because I want an FOV of ~100 but my weapon still takes up half of my screen like im playing on a console, jesus christ
>work in progress
Well it's a 2020 release then it seems.
cont:
There's also the matter that automatics in halo are INTENTIONALLY designed to not reward skill, and then have to be bad guns as a result, which is just fucking stupid, If it were up to me, i'd cut the sandbox to be more Halo 2 sized, and focus on making each gun have a relatatively unique niche they are effective enough in, and also versatile enough out of, to justify using them at leas somewhat often in both low and high level play.
In particular I would like to see the AR turned into a precision automatic. You've never played 5, but in 5 it has a pretty fine/small reticule, is very accurate, and has a very fast killtime. (in 5's TU it got nerfed and now it's not worth using but regardless) But, there's also no reason to bother to not just spray and pray with it or to be accurate in MP, where before like 3 warthogs length away it's not worth the DPS loss to use bursts, and past that, while you need it to land shots, you'll get beat 99% of ythe time by more ranged weapons. Wheras. In Campaign, you can use the damn thing out to what's normally BR ranges when bursting if you are accurate, and the feeling of having to change the lenght of your bursts in response to the flow of combat is so satisfying.
So I'd like it if the AR in, say, infinite, in those smaller sandbox, had the unique role of an automatic that heavily rewards accurate burst fire. Small reticule, high accuracy, but after the 5h or so shot in successon the bloom/spreads goes way up, and there's very little bullet magnetism. Maybe also give it a headshot bonus on shields (as it had in the beta), albiet with the multiplier going down as bloom goes up to avoid accidental headshots. Design it so that if a player can consistently land shots with the AR to the head without missing much, they get some of if not the fastest non-power weapon killtimes in the game, but if not and thbey spray and miss shots they get shat on but any half competent player as normal.
2/?
I'd rather weapons be brought closer in while being made smaller than pushed out.
oh yeah I agree. the worst part about high FOV halo viewmodels is it looks like the elbows are unnaturally bowed outwards all retarded like. I don't know why they find it so difficult to just tuck the elbows in on the model or, better yet, only really show hands and forearm like every other good game ever made
cont:
It should be noted that i've been talking about non-power weapons here: Obviously power weapons need to be OP by design, my point is that non power weapons should all be useful and should see a decent amount of use; and that traditionally, most guns have not been versatile enough, or useful enough in their specific niche to make up for that lack of versatility.
Anyways, as far as other guns: The SMG It can be your standard spray based auto. in launch Halo 5 was pretty much perfect: It killed insanely fast, almost as if it were a power weapon, but was heavily range limited, though not as much as in past games. It's not versatile, but it's good enough in uit's role it's worth using, and that role isn'yt SO range limited it makes it not worth keeping on you: you can still engage out to traditional AR ranges, it just isn't that great at those ranges. It's terifiic for flanking or using as a defensive weapon if somebody is about to drop on you, but it really needs a precision weapon to complement it, etc.
The last auto (aside from the needler) I'd want in my ideal sandbox here would be a plasma rifle or storm rifle. Just bring back the stun functionality from Halo CE, and have it be somehwere between the AR and SMG in range usability. Great foir shield stripping and then to switch to a headshot weapon to finish them off with, or in teams to stun and strip shields off of other players while teamates mop up.
Right ther that's 3 non power weapon automatics that are actually useful and are decently unique from one another. There's no reason Halo can't be balanced like this. Anyways user, I apolgize for my intial dimissive reply, and I apperciate your interest in hearing my thoughts, I hope you are still checking the thread. If you wanna talk more, since you seem to be actually interested, my throwaway email is [email protected]

I think slowing the fire rate of some of those medium to long range weapons would be a good place to start, at least for Reach. I think we'll have to see how the beta goes but for 3 and probably Reach I suspect that without changes the improved accuracy from K&B will really fuck up balance.
Faster walk speed should be something they test. Better aiming means players can better handle moving targets. It just as much would speed up the game as allowing players to dodge the improved accuracy better.
I don't believe slowing down the pace of the game would be good, but it's a better solution than making everything random.
I would really appreciate them testing a lot of stuff in this beta. Slowing DMR firerate, faster walk speeds, stronger ARs (with more emphasis on bursts). My hope is they keep (or even improve) game speed while also making more weapons useful and fun.
they already confirmed a core design pillar for the PC port is not making gameplay chan ges from the original game, which is retarded given the mere act of porting it to PC fucks with balance
Why bother calling it a port if you're going to fuck with core gameplay mechanics?
95% of games render weapons at a different fov. This isn't anything new.
I thought the Turok PC port was pretty good for its gameplay edits
That just added ledge climbing, right?
>Halo

they nearly doubled the movement speed and expanded all of the maps to compensate
This
Halo 4 has a better campaign, Halo 5 has a better multiplayer so that can't be true and even then Halo 4 still has a better mp than pre-TU Reach and Halo 5 has a better campaign than Reach.
The guy we got for Reach was a fag.
>Halo 5 has a better campaign than Reach.
Put this at the front so I can ignore the rest immediately, thanks.
Halo 5's campaign sucked but I would replay that over the shithole that was Reach's campaign any day.
If you enjoyed a single level in that game aside from the first level on Sanghelios and Blue Team you have atrocious taste, and I feel bad for you.
Back to /pol/ you fucking retard.
This shit is trying to steal the Fortnite crowd.
Okay, alright. I got my dick out.
That doesn't matter at all.
So you sport a double-digit IQ, I see.
Reach had its flaws, but the campaign sandbox and challenge is eons beyond the fucking travesty of H5, where encounters feel like a chore and no weapon that is any fun to use ever has enough ammo.
Halo 4 had a really solid ending to the campaign that was ruined by Halo 5. The larger save the universe aspects of the story were pretty gay though. Gameplay was serviceable but a shadow of better halo titles. Multiplayer/forge/customs are forgettable and sad. And though I recognize the sound design was good, much of it was unrecognizable as a halo title. I respect that they had the balls to do their own thing with it but it lacked Marty's talent hard. I get campaignfags liking Halo 4 but if you aren't a campaignfag and Halo 4 is your favorite then you are a just a straight up fag.
But this is already on pc isn't it? unless you mean they were releasing the regrafics version on pc as well.
M-muh /pol/ bogieman.
>really solid ending to the campaign
A QTE and Deus Ex Machina is not solid at all. Solid shit maybe, as opposed to the watery shit H5 was all around.
>Did you know that the original plan for the Halo 2 multiplayer wasn't even what we ended up with, they wanted to do a Halo 5 Warzone like mode?
Source?
I'm a dude didn't realize I dressed like shit until I was 23. So I threw everything out and started over. But I have no taste. So I mostly wear jeans and a variety of solid one color t shirts. I don't like branding visible on my clothes. I keep them ironed and clean with non stretched neck holes.
Maybe if Reach levels didn't gauge from mediocre to pure shit I would actually put it above Halo 5.
Reach was a linear pile of dogshit.
>everything will be bigger than what you've seen in Halo CE-3
What a fucking joke.
Halo 4 and onwards should not exist. Chiefs story was ended and didn't need further games. The halo series would have been better served with either a pure focus on the Spartan 4s (they're trash but 343 loves them so I dont see them not existing) and their actions during the post human covenant war. OR they shouldnt have continued the main series and made spin off properities. For example, id pay fine money for an ARMA like Halo game focused on Operation Trebuchet or just marine/army forces fighting the covenant in a very grounded real war scenario. Or something in the vein of Rainbow Six Vegas 2 in terms of gameplay and mechanics about marines starting from the begining of the war, with unlocks for armor, guns, attachments, and camos. They already have an RTS game, so why not do a space 3x game, something like the Sins of the Prophets mod? Theres a lot of mods for games that would make killer halo properties and its a shame the series is so obsessed with the chief to the point that its continued reliance on him and the spartans as a whole is dragging the entire franchise down.
I like the DMR more than the BR
Halo has always been linear.
m8, you what
Reach does have the biggest campaign spaces of any of the bungie games.
I'd like the BR more if it required you to land a full burst to kill with a headshot instead of a single bullet.
I agree, but normies and dudebros would get assmad about where's muh cheef
see the reaction to Halo 5 and 343 having to bend over and commit to shoving MC into everything moving foward
Not at the level of Reach.
Reach feels small and linear, doesn't help that all you do deal with firefights, press buttons, and go through on-rails sections, the vehicle sections also suck, how can you not have a Scorpion vs Wraith battle in the campaign?
It just feels more satisfying to me. I also think the Reach DMR is one of the nicest looking weapons in the series.
I rather what Bungie made after Halo 3 not exist, you could tell 343 didn't want to add those games to the MCC.
As a campaign fag Reach is my favorite, well Reach/ODST because I like the more military focus on it. I mean of course all the games are military and war focused, but Reach and ODST are more focused around a larger battle in the war without pure Master Chief literally saves everyone always by himself 90% of the time.
I hated the scope and front post, but the rest of the weapon looked alright.
I actually don't mind a lower reticle. It might muck a little bit with muscle memory but in any game with ADS it means your FOV takes up less of your gun.
FOV is like 90% of the reason ironsights are usually unusable in games but I found them surprisingly comfortable in Far Cry 5 because of this.
ODST is probably the best SP game.
you asked for a source.
I understand why some people didn't like Reach's multiplayer but the game has some of the best campaign levels in the whole franchise.
>larger battle
My ass, it was small as shit, Halo CE-5 felt larger, that's how sad ODST and Reach's existence is.
Reminder not to reply to the 343 autist.
I mean as in the ending cutscene. There was no point in time that I was impressed with Halo 4's gameplay. I haven't been impressed by halo gameplay since the original 3 games. I wasn't overly offended by it either but yeah the QTEs were gay. Thats why I said it was serviceable. Feel free to disagree. I won't lose any sleep over that.
Joseph Staten said himself
>Only 4 hours gameplay
Legendary on that one level with the skyscrapers was fun
This is some straight up delusion here, Reach had some of the worst campaign levels in the series
>muh Objective: Survive
The only fucking thing rememberable about that pile of trash.
>They're using Unreal Engine for bits and pieces of the UI
ruh-roh...
my favorite campaign was 3 reach very close behind
3 hours actually, don't know where those two are getting this best shit from.
Firefight alone offers more than that.
Why are ODST and Reach even in this?
Because those are the best two.
Im sorry, I should clarify. I don't mean larger in terms of maps or battles, though id argue some of the reach maps are quite larger. But mean in tone and atmosphere. Reach really sold me that I was fighting a small battle in a much larger battle raging around me most of the time as well as selling me that this larger battle was a small battle in a much larger war for the planet. Through a combination of background npc chatter, background fights, the backgrounds themselves with the burning cities off in the distance and the explosions out in space. ODST did similar with the destroyed buildings setting.
You seem to really dislike Reach and ODST
>that's how sad ODST and Reach's existence is
Seems a little rough don't you think? What did those games do to you specifically?
Why is Halo 4? Nobody cares about that game. Everyone only wants the bungie games.
...
almost 3 months
FOR FUCKING GAMEPLAY
Wait, so liking Reach and ODST is reddit now? Why? I mean I don't get it. What did those 2 games in particular do to generate such hate? I mean ODST wasn't even a full game it was an expansion really.
Portal is 2 hours and it's considered one of the greatest and most influential puzzle games ever made, commonly rated over its sequel which is a fully realized full-length campaign.
Metal Gear Rising is like 5 hours and it's probably one of the most influential hack n slash titles of the last decade. Length means jack for games like this, and that goes double for games like this, whether or not it was overpriced at launch.
Portal launched with 2 other games in the box.
Will it have 60fps?
Oh hi nu-Yea Forums
Just go back to plebbit, god damn.
Fucking knew it, they never cease to amaze me with how shit their taste is.
I think they said uncapped, but I'm not sure.
New Alexandria and Night of Solace are easily within the top ten Halo campaign levels of all time
Didn't have a 360 so I'm really looking forward to the halo games I couldn't play.
>Portal launched with two other games in the box
When people talk about portal they aren't generally don't bring the rest of the orange box into the conversation, they're just talking about how good portal is. I think the same goes for the rest of the orange box.
I don't really think value has to come into play here especially a decade later when you can probably get the game dirt cheap somewhere if you don't want to wait for the MCC and get every halo title modernized for 60 bucks.
Iv never used reddit myself, been here since warhammer wednesdays, not that you'd know what that means faggot.
They confirmed 60 but they implied that going above that is a problem
meant to quote
So fucking bland. So uninspired. So generic. I just can't understand why this game is even being developed anymore. No self respect
Nice samefagging.
They were forgettable.
Wew, this game made me realize how weak the 360 was...
Even standalone Portal was only $20, and did something new. It wasn't just slower Halo 3 with health packs.
Seek help.
I know this is a shitpost but I couldn't agree more with you, the only two Halo games I hate, Bungie just stop caring after 2008.
t. reach around fag
We are coming home.
youtube.com
If halo 1, 2 and 3 kids are the tits and ass guys the reach kids are definitely the amorphous blob footfag guys.
That's what they do, it was only a matter of time before they came in it's always the same excuse for ODST and Reach
>atmosphere
>ost
>Buck
>Objective: Survive
This how you know both games are shit because they're lacking in the level and gameplay department.
dumb wojack poster
20$ for a really good 2 hour singleplayer-only puzzle game that can't really be replayed unless you've forgotten the (extremely intuitive and memorable) puzzles.
ODST can be replayed a bunch like any other shooter, has fully realized campaign co-op and firefight on top of that, which surprisingly at the time a horde mode was a little bit novel.
And even then, it's not 60$ full price anymore like it was at release, so I don't even know why it has to come into play.
dont put me together with CEtards or 3 casuals
You say that, yet you are the one with the weird obsession that has to let everybody know it. Seriously, seek help you demented fuckwit.
Lets just agree that all Halo games are alright, and Halo 4-5 don't exist? I mean we can agree at least that our most disliked games are at least alright to good in terms of mechanics and gameplay for the most part right?
Bed time for you, zoomer faggot.
No.
Just a reminder that reach kiddies are subhuman.
>Reach feels small and linear
Then you are delusuional, it's playspaces are blatently the largest in the series and it's no more linear then any other Halo game bar the second mission of CE and all of ODST
I don't think Reach has any 10/10 or 9/10 fantastic missions aside from Lone Wolf and arguably Long Night of Solace, but I do think it has consistently above average missions.
I cant because CE is trash even if its pretty
Halo 5 has god tier forge and good MP though
Home...after all these years..
This, Bungie could have fucking tried.
>ADS
>good mp
>halo
Choose 2
I'll agree that Halo CE-5 and Infinite exist but ODST and Reach don't.
Good thing it's functionally identical to zoom.
Portal barely has 45 minutes of content left by the time they actually let you use both portals, I cant comprehend how people can hold it over 2
>Then you are delusuional, it's playspaces are blatently the largest in the series and it's no more linear then any other Halo game bar the second mission of CE and all of ODST
And yet it still feels small, quite an accomplishment.
You're a disappointment to Dr. Halsey
>tfw
Clamber and sprint fuck map design up and fuck up game flow because you can't use them and shoot. Those things alone make the game shit, nut then you have thruster, which has NO downside and is always a defensive last resort, shit like ADS, which is not zoom, it increases your accuracy and the viewmodel is shit.
God Halo 5 is terrible and its apologists need to be gassed.
>reachfags throwing zoomer around
>Removes half your screen with a gigantic viewmodel
>Increases accuracy and bullet magnetism
Fuck you.
>which has NO downside
You can't shoot during it, and it takes 4 seconds to recharge. If you don't properly dodge a shot with it, you're dead.
This
>>Increases accuracy and bullet magnetism
It always did that.
I got CE when it first hit stores, and I loved it. I also love Reach, and im 30. So while Im certainly a faggot for still being on Yea Forums at 30, Im not a zoomer you faggot.
>Implying that I'm a reachfag
>Halo post-2011
Fuck off Frank, no one gives a fuck.
>Halo post 2006
>Halo post 2001
