I never realised how hard it was to make animated 2D human sprites, even when it's only pixelshit. Does anyone have any advice?

Give up
Just keep doing it until you get better
Animating 3D is unironically easier, it's just that modeling is harder
just try your best sweetie xoxo
Congrats on using Godot. What kind of graphics you wanna have? just pixelart or maybe something like mk or killer instinct when it comes to detail?
Download a spritesheet for a artstyle you like. Trace the basic form over it. Fill in your own custom details.
Make it in 3d then translate it to 2d
Don't give up.
I'm trying to make something chibi/anime from an isometric viewpoint with 8 directions
I thought of doing this, but there's nothing like I just described
Ganbatte kudasai! fellow godot chad
Godot chads rise up, we will rain fire down on GMS and unity virgins
animate the character in 6 sections, one for head, torso, right arm, left arm etc. and eatch one is a solid random color. then once ur done the animation with this multicolored shilouette, you illustrate the details
Final Fantasy tactics?
Bigger heads than that. I'm going for a shota/loli aesthetic
I'll give this a try, thanks user
>with 8 directions
you dumb fuck, now you'll have to make at least 5 sets of sprites
go with 4 directions instead and you'll have to make only 2 sets of sprites
Animate stick figures and work your way up from there.
Don't make detailed sprites right away. You can always add the detail later. Once you have the body shapes down you can add clothing to them and then focus on animating those in each sprite frame.
Just don't overdo it. No one is good right away.
How many of you guys are doing pixel?
Is this even classed as pixel? The resolution is way too good
It's still pixel art
did you make it? it's really cool
No question it is. Look at the individual dithering on the breastplate; that all has to be hand-placed probably while zoomed in. When each pixel counts, that's where you know you have pixel art.
Nah

Are Quake 1 style textures considered pixel art?
Aren't those generated using simple 2D sprites? If so then yeah.
I believe you might be thinking of Doom.
I just mean low resolution textures like this, that are supposed to be drawn without any filtering.
