Like other people already said, parrying is NOT a comeback fucking mechanic. You can do it at anytime during the round, you don't have to be losing or near the end of the round to pull it off. And both players have access to it all times in that game.

There have been hundreds of instances of more technically challenging things performed since then but they don't get this kind of fame because they started happening so often and they were all recorded.

Supers are not comeback mechanics. They can be used that way, but they are very versatile depending on the way they are implemented into the game. The important thing to understand here is that you don't just get meter for getting your ass handed to you like you do with comeback mechanics. Again, depending on the way the meter is implemented it has so many cool things. CAPCOM games give a little if you get hit, but more if you do a special move, taunt or hit an opponent cleanly or if they block it. The ArcSys games have you get meter for moving forwards instead of just blocking.
You need to be less simple.

Granblue Versus seems to be the closest to what you want, the only meter is only for the super, it does nothing else.

There is literally nothing wrong with meter though, and it's not like you can prove me wrong anyway.

You can use a stronger version of a move but it makes the cooldown longer. It doesn't use meter.

Like the other user said here there are EX moves but they don't eat meter, that meter is even a Guilty Gear one, it rewards aggressive play, it charges when you press forward on top of the usual damage inflicted/received.
