Gave it a brief shot because I loved MMBN. The battle system seemed a bit weird and I don't know why they'd change what worked so well in BN, but I could see it growing on me in time. As for the other things that bothered me I don't know if they get better or not as the game progresses but they quite bothered me.

I like star force but it is objectively worse than the battle network series. The aliens aren't as charming or memorable as the navis from BN, the side characters are not only few but also all forgettable and uninteresting with the exception of luna and sonia themselves. Also I disliked how the battle gameplay is way easier and worldbuilding isn't as good as BN, just make a comparison and interact with your world in the two series, you check the TV and BN describes you what kind of model it even is while in Star force you get an "it's a TV".

Geo is a good character in terms of being a subversion to your usual kid oriented game/series but it's only that. As much as I like him, it's hard to deny that he can be boring sometimes.

The best thing for me in SF games is the progression of Geo's character. He goes from unsocial beta kid that gets pushed around by Omega-Xis in 1 to a man that makes his own decisions, and even Omega-Xis doesn't really forces him to do anything in 3 and respects him. It's a standard progression for a character but I find the progression very good since the devs also show the side characters as well as Geo change themselves little by little from 1 to 3.

I like the Starforce series except for 2 which felt like a step back from the first game in almost every way.

I'd go as far as to say I prefer SF to BN, even. I see a lot of people say that SF's combat was a regression from BN but SF aims for different things. It's faster and more reaction based, and the smaller grid contributes to that. It goes for a different feel than BN, and while there's nothing wrong with BN, I prefer SF's pace and enjoy the series as a whole a lot more.

Star Force 2 and 3 have it, but 2's was cut out of the international version. I don't have them compiled because I haven't played them. I plan on changing that soon.

Sonia is pretty much a literal who one note character alot of the time while Luna is constantly triggering Geo's power ups with his desire to protect her.

Since then, anons have gotten a hold of the last Ci-en build, a kind user from /jp/ translated that build, de-compiled the source code, fixed some bugs and in doing so, spurred a few other anons to form a loose coalition dedicated to finishing the game as close as possible to Koki's intent, using whatever information they can scrape together from tweets, streams, etc.
I can't give an ETA. Like I said, it's a loose coalition, and right now it's mostly just talk as we wait for a map editor to get finished. If you're interested in progress, there's a thread up in /jp/ right now. There's been a few posts recently that go over roughly what needs to be done to finish the game.

I agree I'm laying it on a bit thick, she does definitely help him out of a jam in 2 and she helps out way more near the end of 3, but for Geo to say she's the reason he has his courage makes no sense at all. If anyone is the reason it's Omega-Xis, the guy pulled him out of his door kicking and screaming and hated his guts yet they formed an inseperable bond and saved each other more times than they can count because Geo opened up to him with a huge amount of his faults and fears. Sonia is after that and they even rescued each other from depression and self-hatred through their Brotherband and general friendship.

In general Sonia's done way more for Geo than Luna ever did (But at the same time it's an unfair comparison to an extent because Sonia has Harp Note while Luna is sidelined without Ophiuca) yet she's treated like a second fiddle for some reason. I'm fine with Yai being the love interest, just make it so she's not constantly busting his balls and actually helping him out from time to time instead of just being there for Geo to save her or her being bossy. It drives me nuts.

I was going to disagree with you, but then I remembered that time Geo forgot about Sonia dying of snake venom because he was too busy forming a brotherbond with Luna, when Sonia was the one who pushed him out of the way of the snake in the first place.

In hindsight, an email from Duo in the postgame giving you a fist weapon would have been a nice way to have that without distracting from the emotional ending.
