>Wanting to live in literal dark age with no machines and full anarchy.

Who's to say society won't eventually rebuild itself and will have to face that entire dilemma all over again?

We are our choices

Not advisable for a tourist to walk the canals at night.

>society collapses and millions of people die
>all of it will eventually go to waste when people start rebuilding shit
Full retard ending.

When I beat a videogame I either want a really big thing to explode or I want to be king. It is a tough choice.

>not wanting to live in a kino amish existence with zero divorce, low suicide, strong village communities, and a sense of real well being and escaping the cyberpunk dystopia.

Is there any evidence that all technology follows a set path? Also many cultures have biblical flood myths about the day the grid went down and may never rebuild again.

And what about all of the people who already know how to rebuild? What about all of the books that have this information written down? Did they all die? Did the books magically disappear?

It's a complete breakdown of society. Everything relies on technology. It's not going to be a comfy amish society, it's the apocalypse.

Mankind Divided had the worst ending which left a bad taste in my mouth, but I honestly loved the game itself. The atmosphere and 'soul' had me gripped. Anyone else?

But with more dicksucking

helios merge is the only ending

Speak for yourself. A few acres of land and a vegetable garden is all you need and boy do I got it.

When it collapses to that point, there are more pressing concerns than getting the phone line sup and running. You are gonna have to secure food first.

Because even though people are going to make the same mistakes and rebuild, you're sending a clear signal through history that there always will be someone to make the strong fall. Plus you're finally stopping the twitterfags from wasting their lives.

The endings are cool and all but I'm more concerned about savage

This. Even if it takes 1000 years (we didn't recover technologically from the collapse of Rome until the 18th or 19th century) then you will have successive generations escaping the agonized and dehumanizing cyberpunk future.

go help your wife look after the kids varg

Why?

Stop masturbating to Jewish porn, huwhite man.

his ending doesn't solve the problem though, it just puts the problem on hold

>lol dude if i was in the apocalypse I would totally be a badass fighting off bandits

What food? The economy has collapsed. Food production has drastically slowed down. The production of fucking everything has slowed down.

Nor do either of the endings, if you want to hold that point.

the illuminati ending doesn't, it's just like tong's ending but not as extreme. merge ending is supposed to be solving the problem by combining man and machine and giving it to everyone instead of keeping it for one person like page wanted to.

Merge ending is just direct democracy. That doesn't work either.

MD didn't have that eventful of an ending but it was still overall happy is you played your cards right.

it might if everyone was directly connected to each other by wifi

VIRRAGES JC

WE'RR ARR RIVE IN VIRRAGES

That would be a fucking disaster.

Felt the story and writing in general was so bad it killed any "soul" for me. They did built some kino atmosphere with its environments tho

>Not wanting eternal guidance of a benign AI

>merge ending is supposed to be solving the problem by combining man and machine and giving it to everyone
No it doesn't? Merge ending is Helios rules over humanity. Don't bring Invisible War into this.

What if he turned evil and you had to stop him by having a climactic fight at the Statue of Liberty?

okay tong

>Merge ending is Helios rules over humanity.
did you forget jc merged with helios to become something new? he didn't just hand over the reins to helios.

The "something new" is an entity that would be capable of ruling the human race by fully integrating a human into a machine, to provide the unique human perspective an AI could never have, no matter how advanced

It's Helios admitting it would only fuck up trying to control the world alone and it needs JC's help to do it

The reason direct democracy doesn't work is the world is not full of all knowing and enlightened individuals. Direct democracy is basically just mob rule. It's a retarded idea.

And that is still one being ruling over everyone else, not some utopian power to the people. There is no difference between what Helios does and what Page does, just the hope that Helios is less of an asshole.

because it has the best ost of them all
youtube.com/watch?v=axfWU_9ZYTM

The Illuminati ending is the only real ending. Helios ending doesn't tell you anything at all about what will or might happen, and dark age ending is just a joke.

Oh and I forgot to say that even if JC/Helios is super smart or something, it doesn't mean he can actually become a ruler.

Direct democracy has never happened on a scale that matters because it's impossible. It would require every single eligible voter to cast a vote when called on, for every major issue. You can barely get 50% of the population to tick a box to choose their next leader right now.

Whether it was in DX or IW, the point would be to give everyone nano-augments that hooked them all together and let them vote with a thought rather than expecting people to get off their assess and waste time counting ballot papers.

>the part where Helios flat out tells you it has no real power to affect anything but people listened to its orders anyway because they seemed like good ideas
There was a time when the General Secretary of the Communist Party was literally just a secretary and not the man ruling the Soviet Union. Knowledge, and the knowledge of how to apply it, is power. And Helios is basically the internet in a world where the Internet of Things has taken over.

>the part where Helios flat out tells you it has no real power to affect anything but people listened to its orders anyway because they seemed like good ideas
I don't remember that part, but it sounds very fantastical. Good ideas are rarely listened to in the real world.

>thinking democracy will save us all

The problem with direct democracy is not the logistics involved in getting everyone to vote. It's that you are getting them to vote on issues they know dick about. You don't go to public to ask what sorts of laws about environment protection, economy, etc., etc. should exist. You go to experts who have spent their life studying that shit and know a lot more than the general public about it. It's why the national academies exist.

>to provide the unique human perspective an AI could never have
And so Helios picks a socially impaired supersoldier clone created and raised in isolation by MJ-12, whose only somewhat genuine first-hand experience with human societies comes from those few years he spent in UNATCO school. The perfect specimen. Yes.

It was that or Bob Page

>helios makes all decisions micro questions
>shall we increase tax on carcinogenic plastic products that are involved in industrial food production by 32%?
>the average man has no idea
>he says sounds like a good idea and says yes
>the economy is a mishmash of taxes and laws that are not impact tested
>helios realises people cant make decisions over their tuna sandwich
>he impliments larger and traditional democracy with yearly votes on local governments and national leaders
>things stay the same
>helios takes over and handles everything from tax codes to traffic light systems
>all eggs in one basket
>better hope some sunglasses and trench coat wearing lunatic doesn't sneak into area 51 with harsher intentions than JC.

Or he could have, you know, not merged with anyone at that point.

Good luck if you live in a country that does not have enough farmable land to support its own population.

UNATCO?

Enjoy getting raped by bandits every day

Dude hahaha his face is a sideways X

>implying those bandits won't be busy harvesting cabbage and honing their carpentry skills

>implying the first generation of Tong's Dark Age isn't going to have a serious problem with freeloaders who have no intention of learning how to live off the land and will just take what they want until someone kills them over it

>[the bandits] will just take what they want until someone kills them over it
So basically during the few hours/days after the blackout, especially when the guys will give them shelter and food in exchange for ez protection. I think you underestimate the amount of cooperation people would give each other in times of need. It's a blackout, not war.

Dark age

It's the collapse of modern society. It's already a dystopian cyberpunk shithole where factory produced, processed S-o-y foods are common. People today would riot en masse finding out how coddled and spoiled they are by infrastructure and technology, it would only be worse in a world where life on the planet is slowly being wiped out by pollution and climate change.

Even if there was, technically, enough food to go around you'd have to convince people to live drastically more frugal lives and form communities that cooperated to work together more than they cooperated to disrupt each other. It would take years.

When the public's life is directly affected, they have a right to have a say. That's why you get backlash over issues like migration.

what is a sideways x?

they are all shit in itw own way. it was bold move

Tracers face, look at it.

Even if a generation was, it is a more sustainable way of living. It is worth ripping the bandaid off and having a generation live in hell for 100 generations to live in peace.

Look at social media today. We're more connected than ever, and now it's easier than ever to form a lynch mob against people we disagree with.

It's normal though.

dank age

It's actually upside down.

Fucking mammalian brain.
youtube.com/watch?v=jR39zfdwnVI

You have the right to say all you want. But if what you say is objectively fucking retarded then there's no good reason whatsoever to make it official government policy. No country has direct democracy for a good reason.
>That's why you get backlash over issues like migration.
You sound like a poltard. If America had direct democracy Clinton would currently be president. Would that make you happy?

dark ages because fuck the internet. Kill twitter, memes, /pol/, reddit and facebook.

No internet =/= No machines

No internet also =/= living in villages

Tong ending is fucking retarded because even if you destroy the internet you can just go back to fucking dial-up.

Yeah, I would, because that's what the majority of people wanted.

The government ultimately serves the people, hence the term "public servants". I believe the people have a right to have a say in what is done. If the government believes a particular path is best, then they should advocate for it and persuade the public.

I like the way Switzerland uses referendums. Switzerland had a chance to join the EU back in the 90's, and the government wanted it, but the people voted and rejected it. So Switzerland didn't join the EU despite what the government wanted, and advocated.

I'm not sure played the late part of the game or paid attention, then.

>The government ultimately serves the people, hence the term "public servants".
"The public" is rhetoric. The government serves the nation because it only exists as a facet of the nation. The people are a part of the nation too. The government's job is ostensibly to keep the nation prosperous and safe, not to do whatever random shit the public demands of them because the public will demand retarded things like end all taxes, free healthcare for all, etc., etc.

This is objectively the best ending.

>Whether it was in DX or IW, the point would be to give everyone nano-augments that hooked them all together and let them vote with a thought
This was bang on the ending scene in DX2, basically Helios would constantly listen to everyone's wants and concerns and enact future actions from there.
>Helios will speak. Year of our Union, 125. Our consensus remains clear. Yes, we will prolong a second century of peace. Economic automation is complete. Our research will now encompass other frontiers. Yes, this is the consensus we have created. Our unity will soon be absolute. The remaining boundaries are vanishing. Yes, share your mind with everyone. Open yourself. Your needs are the needs of all. Let us understand and be transformed. Yes, transform each other and transform yourselves. The only frontier that has ever existed is the self. Helios has spoken.

>The government's job is ostensibly to keep the nation prosperous and safe
In an ideal world, they'd just focus on that. Instead, this mindset is far too often abused to justify getting involved in some other country's business or some foreign conflict.

The government should not be able to unilaterally do whatever it pleases.

I let the AI take over. Based AI government protecting humans from their own greed and micromanaging every aspect of human life for maximum happiness.

just someone tell me what to make my starting stats already dammit

>"I... I.... I became le gep gun xD"
No.

I like the Illuminati ending because then I can just kill Everett in his sleep and rule the world myself.

You can pretty easily beat Deus Ex without investing a single point in anything. However if you want super baby mode invest in melee and take the Gep gun from Paul

>The government should not be able to unilaterally do whatever it pleases.
Agreed. But the population shouldn't be able to either. There's not a huge difference between the tyranny of one and the tyranny of the majority.

Humanity is too retarded for a compromise between freedom and technology. And they sure as hell don't want to go back to the Dark Ages. Absolute control is the only viable option.

Put a point in swimming so you can get the free stuff off the sunken boat on Liberty Island

But what if someone just chucks a few EMP grenades at Denton/Helios? Bam, control schmontrol.

>implying computer governors aren't the ultimate and final redpill

Guys any idea how the fuck can I play IW? It keeps crashing on me all the time while DX works perfectly fine.

There's an unofficial patch floating around that fixes some shit. Have you tried that?

JC has an EMP shielding aug and an aug that destroys incoming rockets and grenades

Fine, just prod him while he's not watching.

Yup. I used both patches and first one fixed my DX but I had no luck with IW.

I used the Visible Upgrade mod and havent noticed had any major problems so far

What version do you use?
I have mine on steam, maybe that's the problem?

Im using the steam version as well. are you using Win10?

Yeah.

I would assume that is the problem then

Well I'll check it out. Nevertheless thanks user.

it's actually merging with helios

Giving control to illuminati jews is the best option

>Illuminati
Enjoy being manipulated, having no influence on anything and after some time getting rid of.
>Dark Age
Apocalypse.
>Helios
i am become God the lawmaker of world

reduce 1 from pistols add 1 to computers electronics rifles

>giving the world back to the people who ruined it and then lost control of it

>Yes, share your mind with everyone.
Fuck off, Facebook.
