What's your favorite Switch game?
What's your favorite Switch game?
Smash Ultimate
That one
doom i guess. mario odyssey was my favorite exclusive
so im used to turn based shit, can someone explain to me how combat works in this game?
also what should i play first, the main game or the DLC since its based 500 years before?
looks fun but i think i might be retarded for the combat. i almost got killed by some level 2 dog.
Playing the prequel before knowing the main story is never a good idea.
XBC2. One of the best games I've played in a long, long time honestly.
You posted it
Pregnant woman are so fucking hot
Play the main game, then the prequel. Technically Torna fits between Ch7 and Ch8, but honestly, just beat XBC2 before playing Torna.
As for the combat, it can be a little strange at first and probably seems like there's not much to it, but stick with it, it'll make a lot more sense and it'll quickly show a whole lot of depth. Effectively it works like this
Autoattack the mobs to build up charge to use on Driver Arts
Use Driver Arts to power up your Blade Specials
Use Blade Specials to form Elemental Combos (the flow-chart in the top right)
There's a lot more to each one of those steps than that, but that's the basic formulae. It'll make more sense when you've got a full team of 3 Drivers. Just make sure you read the tutorials when they come up and make sure you understand each combat mechanic when you're given it, because the combat system builds and builds through the game, and it becomes absolutely fantastic.
Oh and, absolutely make sure the two talents you aim for first are
>The ability to chain a Driver Art directly into another Driver Art without having to autoattack between them
>The ability to use your X/Y/B ability at the start of battle without having to build up charge
Those will make the combat feel a billion times better.
i bought it for that game as a huge fan of 1 and got really let down. the vo is grating and i didnt like any of the party members. gameplay was too slow and grindy too. mario and smash made the system worth though
Mythra with a ponytail postgame is absolutely canon
thanks for the info, that definitely helps
last question, should i play in japanese or english? ive definitely seen the one eyed monster bit
That reminds me, guy looking for advice.
Play with JP voices on. PLAY WITH JP VOICES ON. The Japanese dub is great, it's even outstanding at times, while the English dub is a rollercoaster of some highs and a lott'a lows.
Put it to English when you're just tooling around on the overworld, questing or such and you'll hear all the banter and party discussions when you're moving around, so you don't miss anything. But make sure you've got it on the actual JP voices for cutscenes and anything that matters, because you can't take a scene seriously if the acting falls completely flat.
See:
Play in English for the first play through or you'll miss out on all the memes.
>so im used to turn based shit, can someone explain to me how combat works in this game?
It's basically MMO combat.
>Characters auto-attack when you're close to an enemy and not moving (which means you can change the speed at which your auto attacks come out by moving, so they're not entirely out of your control)
>Landing enough auto-attacks charges up your arts, which are more powerful attacks that can do things like heal the party or do more damage when you're behind an enemy
>Landing enough arts charges up your special attacks, which are flashy super moves that do a lot of damage and can have similar effects to arts
That's the gist of the combat early on. I suggest you screenshot any tutorials that pop up because they do a much better job of explaining things than any post you'll find on here, but for whatever reason you can't review them in-game normally.
>but for whatever reason you can't review them in-game normally.
You can, you buy them from the Hint vendors.
The one with that guy from nintendo
Don't waste your Overdrive Protocol's. The game doesn't explain them well, but what they do is let you move a Blade from one Driver to another. It's pretty handy if you have a Blade you really wanna move.
But, BUT, you only get 3 in your first run through. You get effectively unlimited in NG+ but in NG there's only three.
You can farm more by maxing out a 4* Blade's affinity and then releasing it, but that's a pain. I only had about 7 or 8 by the time I finished NG.
wouldnt moving around make you attack less so much less efficient? whats the point to that since it didnt really look i could dodge attacks
4* common blades seem stupidly rare.
Like I got a bunch of rare blades (like 8 or 9) on each of my drivers but i don't have a single 4*.
That or they are progression locked and I'm just not far enough.
XBC2, I am also really enjoying tales of vesperia.
I'd enjoy XC2 if navigating the world wasn't such a chore.
Haven't played many yet.
If Zelda is as good or beet on Switch as on Wii U, then probably that.
LABO garage is a riot as well though.

He saying that you can cancel the auto attack’s recovery frames by moving a little right after the attack hits. This is good if you want to build your arts meters back up quickly. The trade off is that you may not do as much damage if you don’t let your character finish their auto attack combo. Also, moving is necessary for getting positional advantage for certain arts or avoiding certain enemy attacks (some enemies do position-specific damage, like hitting everyone in front of them, to the side, or behind, which are 100% avoidable if you aren’t in the area of the attack).
