It's caller losers because tourney's are double elimination and to get put in losers you need to lose, and the only way win the tourney is to reset the bracket by grand finals and win twice.
Lower bracket is retarded because it sounds like it's not a consequence. If you're legitmately trying to win a tournament it's much more daunting in losers because you're gonna have to play more games, usually high seeds halfway through, and then beating probably the best seed there twice in a row.
Loser runs are more satisfying because despite it some people still decide they want to win even when they already deemed a loss, not "placed in the lower part"
