You might as well. Stormblood is a lot better paced but doesn't have as high peaks as HW so you might enjoy it more overall.

You'll start having a good time after Moogle land and then after the main story ends go back to having a very bad time for like 30 quests, then back to having a good time.

Also the game is just a lot more fun to play after 60.

I was in the same boat, and just bought the story skip potion. I do not enjoy the MSQ one bit, not one bit. Just level in any other way and do the dungeons etc it unlocked for you at the level they're supposed to unlock.
Between the constant running, extremely easy fights in anything non-dungeon related, bland characters and overall mediocre storytelling (let alone the basic plot), you're better off skipping it.

Protip: if you skip cutscenes without voice acting, you'll get about 98% of the story, because important things only happen in those cutscenes.
Does it have a better story than say, NieR Automata? Not really. I think the actual legacy of 1.0 -> ARR is one of the coolest parts about FFXIV, but as far as the actual story is concerned there's a few peaks and a whole lot of valleys.

I don't think either Samurai or Red mage is bad but Red Mage is undoubtedly the shitter class. Not that guy but I'm having an issue replacing textures. Every time I load a new texture, the item I loaded the texture on loses detail. I'm trying to change the color on the Chivalric Coat of Casting for example and when I apply a changed texture on it I lose the bumpmapping on the coat.

Dragoon is easier than red mage. RDM requires you to adapt and make decisions, drg just has a super strict rotation you do the same way every time.

People already posted actual data showing BLM is the job with the biggest disparity between min and max damage. If it was braindead easy everyone would do roughly the same and it would be one of the jobs with the lowest disparity between players.

I think he's referring to optimal DPS which isn't entirely wrong. You use your abilities to manipulate rng as much as you can and so your rotation isn't as set in stone compared to DRG, but baseline RDM is as you described and it is significantly easier than baseline DRG while allowing for tons of movement and hardly any punishment for messing up.

Because I like seeing him sperg out now and then about how RDM should be more powerful than it is with no real justification beyond wanting it to be more powerful.

Bruh I realize you've never played red mage at a high level before but you are insanely simplifying it. RDM is a caster, one with movement skills you need to use as part of your damage rotation to get the most out of it. You need to know where to stand to cast, when and where to move between hardcasts, and how to use your movement skills so as not to kill yourself. Additionally, your procs don't always work according to plan and that means you need to adjust what you're doing. Acceleration use, swiftcast, manafication, they all add additional wrinkles to getting the most out of your DPS - wrinkles that dragoon does not have.

This is why you need to stop funneling retards to red mage. You are telling them that RDM is just the bare minimum but it's not.

Yes. The easiest of them. The one who gets an instant cast every other cast so they don't have to deal with actually planning anything. Does SMN get that? Does BLM? Thought so.

We can shitpost from now till re;ease but even with every single tooltip we're not gonna really know how it's all going to come together until we see how they've decided to design fights going forawrd. I really don't think they've made tanks and healers this seemingly straightforward to play without also shaking up the encounter design somewhat.

honestly it's more of a design problem with the game. most people just see savage as a fight with a bigger number. If you've seen it once, what do you need to see again? especially if you will get equal gear in just a couple months, even if you unsubscribe.

But RDM is extremely difficult to actually fuck up that badly. Misaligning your cooldowns is bad but it's not end-of-the-world like it is for a lot of DPS.

When we talk beginner friendliness, both complexity of the rotation AND the punishment for fucking it up come into play. Obviously when you simplify every job into "do these things in this order" they seem easy, but the reality is a new player isn't going to execute their rotation 100% correctly until a lot of practice as been put in.

Also, Dreadwyrm Trance and a fucking chance to proc Ruin 4 is "much of its time"? Literally every other casting GCD for RDM is instant, there's no fucking way SMN even comes close to the consistency of RDM's movement. Sure, you get to move around during Dreadwyrm Trance but you don't use that for mobility when it's not convenient for your DPS.
