It's fun.

the building block of all 2d fighters

3's better but 2 is the platform on which almost all other fighting games would be developed, it's good shit entirely on its own.

Timeless masterpiece & the only good Street Fighter game, regardless of how many contrarians will tell you

One of the most important games to ever exist. A minor cultural phenomenon and the basis of an entire genre which has influenced other genres in one way or another. Has some iconic character designs and even more iconic music/sound design.

It's also pretty fucking janky in terms of the gameplay itself. You still need skill to excel in it but there's so many bugs and weird mechanics/interactions/frame data/hitboxes that allow for insane setups/combos that it's kinda fucked. It's still revolutionary but if a game as janky as ST came out today it would be shit on, while many other 90s fighting games (all influenced by SF2, mind you) that are lauded still hold up in terms of gameplay.

Pretty much invented the genre as we see it today.

Tbf most old ass games would be shat on today regardless of influence back then.

Super Turbo is peak play

2 HD Turbo was the most fun I ever had with Street Fighter.

Super Turbo is basically the perfect fighting game and is the reason the entire genre as we know it now was built on it.

>Go back to super turbo after all those years.
>AI grabs me.
>90% of health is gone.

Boy I sure do love random damage. But well despite all the flaws and brokenness, still a pinnacle of genre.

Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo is baller but Ultra Street Fighter 2: The Final Challengers is the best for adding Evil Ryu, VIolent Ken and Akuma to the roster and not having them be hidden behind weird inputs.

This game's AI literally reads your inputs. Fucking trash.

Why did Street Fighter start at II' ?

Hyper Fighting is still the best

You still play USF2? I haven't fired it up in a while.

Absolute kino

People don't really like the balance changes or just dimissed it as some cashgrab,They are right about that tho. also, Violent ken and Akuma are broken as fuck and allowing then online is a mistake.

I can see why people would complain with how many more and better moves they have over the rest of the cast.

However, I still enjoy messing around with them for fun and am glad that they're in.

ST is just as good as 3S, but I like 3S more.

Who would win Yea Forums?

One of my favorite ever games, but full screen proximity block, crazy and random dropped frames on certain types of hitstun and some straight up useless moves are pretty hard to get back to after playing more modern games. ST Ryu mirrors are probably one of the most refined gaming experiences in the medium

oops I linked the wrong one

Same. They're fun to fuck around with, even given the consequences. At least Shin Akuma is not allowed online.

The grandfather of all fighting games. First fighting game I ever played. Solid foundation and good fundamentals that can be applied to any fighter that came after it. 3S is the better game but ST is what made fighting games what they are.
Personally I'd rank the street fighter games as
Super Turbo > 3rd Strike > USF4 > Alpha 2/3 > V

it sounds more "contrarian" to call it the ONLY good sf game.... all are pretty good.

ST is better, but SF2 is the reason fighting games exist today

2 rever 2 obmbo

shin akuma is also in the game
yeah, definitely a blatant cash grab and akuma and v ken are horrendously broken but still a lot of fun to play with friends. I still pick it up every now and then.

get filtered

Pretty much all that needs to be said right here really. Still fun if you know what you're getting into.

Why does Sagat look like you just told a really awkward dead parent joke?

But SF2 AI do really read your inputs and cheat with charges.

Are you forgetting about guile moving forward and still doing flashkicks?

>Shin Akuma
I forgot about him now that you mention him.

Maybe because you have to do one of those silly codes to play as him.

Is it a known fact that they input read? I remember when I was playing it for the first time and finally got the hadoken to work, the AI would always jump over it unless it was finishing a combo.

Yes they do, get more blant and obvious on later stages or in arcade versions.

Fighting games literally don't work with AI, since they don't have eyeballs or ears to actually sense what's happening in the game outside of input data and hitbox positions. They also don't really have a sense of fear or ability to read your psyche. When you hit an AI, it's usually because they let you, not because you outsmarted it.

hate street fighter
shit game
