Why do you guys like this game so much...

Why do you guys like this game so much? Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed playing some of it but I thought it was just mediocre at best.

It's the last RPG where your choices matter

OP if you just want to have a NV thread just say so.

Can't wait for FO4 NV, my balls will be jingle jangle jingling

>b-b-but that's just quantity over quality
In addition to having way more quests than FO3, the quests in FNV are also much more complex and interesting.

>memorable lines

Post your gunfu.

I personally think it's very overrated. It's extremely buggy and the gameplay is too much like a Bethesda game. I understand why it plays like one but that doesn't make me like that it does. I think people like to circlejerk it for its writing.
It does some things right. I think it's still a lot better than any Bethesda-developed Fallout. It's a better role-playing game with much better quests. Not a fan of open world games in general but the worldbuilding in this one is pretty good. Weapons are more balanced, you can't get A3-21's Plasma Rifle at level 2 and be set for the whole game.
Not sure what to think of it. When people compliment it I have to shit on it, and when people shit on it I have to compliment it.

What about the one that just involved walking into the Lucky 38 and then walking back out?

Seems like every time I play it, I find something new I hadn't seen in previous playthroughs. Can't really say that about a lot of games.

Otherwise sums it up pretty well.

Brush Gun for me

You can restore the cut stages of that quest with mods.

Attached: jn0zQIu.png (1596x2592, 710K)

I also kinda hated it until about 30 hours in and then it picked up and I mostly enjoyed my 100 hour total playtime playthrough

Just go for the Strip ASAP, then get the implants, your lucky 38 presidential suite etc THEN drop the main quest and go for the DLC's, after you're done with the DLC's do the quests for each faction, after you're idolized by everyone it's time to pick the main quest back up and choose your ending

>in the post apocalypse
>has cereal all over her bed
>has shoes on bed which probably are covered in dirt
>drinking a soda on bed
>red paint all over couch
>somehow despite being a complete slob is completely clean
breaks the immersion desu

Shit story
Shit characters
Game looks like shit
Movement/combat feel like shit

The only thing that made it fun was the open world/RPG elements. Otherwise it was a complete trash game. It's basically what makes Bethesda games popular, which it essentially was. Lots of terrible design choices redeemed by fun RPG elements.

This game is horribly overrated, but I did enjoy it.

Attached: super-mario-rpg-love-600x320.png (600x320, 259K)

Because Fallout: New Vegas is post-post apocalyptic.

It's about society after the apocalypses, where there are hotels and factories already working. Instead of the dumbass amusement park wasteland Bethesda tries to push in their main games.

it's just memes dude, nobody actually likes that pile of crap

Guess it's the world building but this game makes me actually care about who's going to win, there's a lot of named npcs on this game so it feels like they actually have a purpose and their beliefs, specially with the reputation system it has, and this game has one of the most frequent 'holy shit' quests where you are presented with the hard decisions. I could agree that vanilla new vegas' shooting's a bit souless but I couldn't care less anymore with mods

>not playing as cowboy/dynamite man
r u retart

EVERYTIME I INSTALL THIS GAME I ALWAYS MOD IT TO SHIT HOW CAN I INSTALL THE BARE MINIMUM MODS AND STILL HAVE FUN WITHOUT GOING ON A 50+ MOD RAMPAGE

>buy cause on sale and friends said to
>never played a fallout game
>never was into the post apocalyptic style
>maybe gameplay will be better
>MOUSE ACCELERATION
>no run button and character walks at 1 mph
>have to walk over 2 hours to get to the interesting part of the map
>does main quest and some side quests for several hours
>main quest breaks but dont realize cause i went to do side quests
>hour later realize
>cant fix fuck it stop playing
>6 months later try again
>MAIN QUEST BREAKS AGAIN
>fix it
>play through the rest of the main quest and never play it again

Turn me off from any other fallout game, if i played more maybe it would have been better but could care

>WAHHHH WALK SPEED SLOWWW
Why is this always what shitters complain about? You hear the same from people who dislike Morrowind. Do zoomers need to zoom zoom zoom?

forced to walk around for whole bottom of the map for the first couple hours

if the map was more interesting and not bare wastelands and ruins forever maybe it would be as bad

>journalists dislike it
It reviewed quite well for a game that was regarded as an absolute technical fuckheap on release desu.

Attached: 1476042793362.png (1280x605, 327K)

How exactly did the main quest break?

overrated as fuck. a myriad of fuckups between the writers and whoever the shit managed the karma """system.""" a wasteland devoid of anything to explore or lore of any kind beyond a handful of straight-up discussions with faggots. bugs of the worst kind and stuttering issues the likes of which are unparalleled by any other game to exist. unlikable factions and with a go-fuck-yourself 4th option involving a gay robot. the only redeeming factor to be found anywhere in this goddamn thing was Joshua Graham for being the holy badass the series can never deserve.

i think i got the platinum chip from caesar and i went to give it to mr house. he took it and said to use it to get into the bunker but didnt give it back. the game wanted me to put it directly into the bunker after getting it from caesar but i didnt know the bunker even existed.

i think i also tried to spawn in a new platinum chip but didnt work. i could clip through into the bunker but needed the chip to activate something inside

the same thing happened the second time but i think i had a recent save file to back up to

I'm playing through NV for the first time since 2011. I never played any of the DLC when I first played, and I've already sunk 70+ hours into it. Did a Ceasar's Legion playthrough, then did an NCR one, and am now doing wild card and then finally a house playthrough, all using a universal save before I made enemies with any faction and already did most of the sidequests.

Currently playing through Dead Money though and it's complete and utter trash. I cannot believe how garbage this DLC is, it has zero redeeming factors. It's bland, it's boring, everything looks the same, every area is exactly the same. The area itself is pretty small and there's literally nothing to do except the main quest which is boring and pointless.

Are the other DLC better than this?

That said, aside from it aging badly in terms of looks, it's been pretty fun and brought back a lot of good memories.

I'm going to buy Fallout 4 next, I know it's not very good, but I have an itch to keep playing this type of game and it's the only thing that will satisfy me, as I have no desire to ever play Fallout 3 ever again.

Attached: 20190526190505_1.jpg (2560x1440, 432K)

>Shit story
The main plot? I think everyone that's played NV can remember the intro with Benny, who they sided with, and what they did with the platinum chip.

>Shit characters
Caesar? Vulpes? The NCR? The Brotherhood of Steel? Which ones are shit?

>Game looks like shit
Not for something that reused Fallout 3's assets and animations from 2008. Its well above average for the time.

>Movement/combat feel like shit
Okay, hard to argue. It is primarily a RPG though. Let's be honest, even Vampire TM's combat was shit too by today's standards.

>The only thing that made it fun was the open world/RPG elements
That and the well crafted post-post-apocalypse Nevada were the only things that made it a cult classic we're still talking about.

> I did enjoy it.
Of course you did.

Attached: spdmr88.png (476x282, 149K)

NV goes from being my favourite game to mediocre all the time. I can't quite put my finger in it. When I get immersed it's great. But when I play other games and come back to it, I realise how shit it is in comparison. Even the fucking movement of your character is shit, got some weird stop/start acceleration.

I'm also playing the DLC for the first time. It doesn't get better IMO. I'm on the 3rd, and they're all painfully boring. Dead Money was honestly my favourite so far, I liked the setting and story.

All day and all night.

GodDAMMIT Yea Forums, I WAS going to fap, but now I'm going to play TTW.

Attached: 95percentchancetonevermisshuh.jpg (140x250, 4K)

When I first tried to play it again, I would play for 30 minutes, get bored and quit. Then play it again a few hours later, then uninstall, then re-install because I got nothing better to do, play it a few more hours, get to Primm and do some more quests, quit again because I don't want to sink another 100 hours into it, then pick it up again and I got hooked and dumped well over 70 hours already.

I kind of get what you're saying there's many good things about it, and many bad things, but overall it is a game where the good far outweighs the bad.

>the quests in FNV are also much more complex and interesting.

Utterly moronic opinion parroting. That’s completely false, a very large portion of New Vegas quests are nothing but point A to point B quests.

>a very large portion of New Vegas quests are nothing but point A to point B quests.
Except its not. You just havn't been fucked to use your brain and find other ways to solve problems.
>You could go from point A to point B
or
>Instead take an alternate route, speak to a character at point C, get re routed to a character at point D, and finish the quest by speaking with a different faction at point E, making point B completely irrelevant.

It's just such an amazing fallout that derives drastically from all the others. Every playthrough is just so fun and special. Memorable characters, stories, and choices. It may be a bit dated and have a few problems that can be fixed with mods which also makes the game better. I bought FO4 and was pissed at the lack of choices soul. I still never beat FO4 New Vegas is my favorite.

Good enough story, great lore, good characters, great world building one of the best, great ideas with solid execution, your choices have actual impact, clever writing and memorable dialogue. My only problem with it is gameplay and graphics

I do not understand 3D Fallout’s appeal. It wants to be an RPG, but outside of low INT and Wild Wasteland, the stats and perks literally do not matter. The crafting is super shitty for a game with nearly 500 random items. Even the exploration leaves more to be desired.

>Dead Money
>complete and utter trash
>zero redeeming factors

Attached: 1557932223929.jpg (960x720, 263K)

Journos say all these open world games feel alive but when you play them it turns out they are empty as fuck when looked past the surface. Well NuVegas genuinely feels alive despite the fact that it looks like a pile of turd from a graphics standpoint and runs like a pile of turd as well. The reason is the game is just very reactive to the player. It has a prepared response to virtually all of your actions and that is just something that takes you by surprise the first time you experience it.

I don't know of any other game where I can murder the fuck out of anyone I consider annoying or don't feel like working with, including main characters in the story.

new vegas fanboys are fucking embarrasing

Fixed

the fuck does that even mean lol

Why didn't you just try to enter the bunker?

>mom, I posted it again!
Heres your (you).
Nobody else reply to this guy.

>start new file
>can't wait to make a new and interesting character this time
>bee line straight to strip, raid casinos, go buy pacienca
Every time, how do I avoid this Yea Forumsros?

fuck bennys ss

Self control
Restrict yourself to a specific build you've never done before
Start with the DLC and suffer like a man
Jsawyer..esp

It's certainly not the best RPG ever made but it was the last good RPG to be made for a long time. It was of a kind that's pretty rare, an RPG that actually lets the player make real choices and lets them roleplay, whereas most modern RPGs are just 90% shitty combat with light character progression.

cringe
face it retard

playing this for myself and not much seems different aside from my weight being lowered and maybe i'm softer

obligatory

we should really make another one of these sometime

Attached: 1521332700412.png (2001x2800, 840K)

fuck it, rolling.

Zoomers pretend to like it cause they're too retarded or too ADD to get into FO1 or 2.

raolan

>Wander (no house)
>Loner
>Independent
Hardmode autist simulator 2281, I see.
Fuck.

Nigger im a zoomer and I've played every fallout game aside from the BHoS titles. People like NV because its the "real" fallout 3.

dab

Aw shit, I'm the founder of fucking ROBCO yet I can't even reprogram my own robots without a ridiculous gambling themed plot device that I'm too stupid to develop a decent plan to transport safely so I hire 1 fucking guy who immediately gets ambushed and then treat him like dogshit the entire game and then let him into my sealed chamber with 0 security inside where if he opens my sealed pod for even 1 second it will kill me

>Mr. House, the dumbest character in the Fallout universe

Nice projecting. I'm 25, played FO1 and 2 as a kid, still replay them time to time and love FNV.

Its means the quests in the game are flexible enough to be approached in many different ways which allows role-playing to be possible (unlike in a Bethesda game) adding a lot of replay value. The writing is also snappier and lively compared to something like Skyrim

Attached: n3ZCaR0.jpg (1013x1218, 197K)

The DLC expansions tie in nicely with the main story but I admit I found them underwhelming too. The mood was interesting but they felt too linear.

The exception was Honest Hearts. It was pretty interesting without trying to be epic or whatever.

How am I protecting, retard? I played FO1 and 2 and enjoyed them unlike NV.

This!

>le roleplaying meme
>retarded chart to make it look complex while the outcome is the same
fucking lmao

Did something happen recently to FNV or W10 to cause a shitload of crashes?

I've tried vanilla install, only installed NVSE, 4GB patch, NVAC, stutter remover and YUP. Can't go 30~60 minutes without it freezing at completely random spots.

>shitty fps with Bethesda engine
>a real Fallout
I don't think so

>no mods to make the gunplay not shit

>stop enjoying games reeee
I enjoyed it more than any games in the last 5 years because it's a flawed gem and because everything the industry puts out these days is ubishit sandboxes, Zelda very much included, if it's not your thing fine.

I still have no idea what you're talking about faggot. Beat the game and that's it.

Gonna play a good build.
>crazy tribal
>energy weapons only
>barter
>medicine
>high agility
>low INT
>low STR
>house ending for the achievement

Go high luck if you are doing energy weapons. They almost all have high crit modifiers, so with just 10luck some of them will crit 1/4 times.

M-more?

You can say the same with most games. People still discover new stuff in Fallout 4, doesn't make it a good game.

>Why do you guys like this game so much?

every time i play it i find something new.

They sniff their own farts.

All 3D Fallouts are bad, but at least Bethesda had the decency to set their games on the East Coast, far away from the South-West.

what else do you expect from a videogame? you can't make a story based game where your outcome is purely dynamic. it's not the outcome but the journey. in Fallout 1 you still had to go through the hoops and kill Master / blow up Mariposa, but you had multiple options to do so, which made the game more replayable, since you can follow another route. yeah you know how it will end, but does it really matter?

>cowboys don't use shotguns

luks liek YOU are rtard

>Shit story
Better than "uh uhh, where is my dad :-D???"

>Shit characters
Not true, i think characters like Dean Domino, Raul Tejada, Mr House, Caesar and Ulysses (Unironically) are pretty well made, there are many more good characters, these are just some that I thought of rn

>Game looks like shit
I can't argue with this, the game does look bad, but I don't think it's really THAT bad, you can use your imagination for a little bit ya know

>Movement/combat feel like shit
Movement is shit, but this is a RPG, not like it needs Quake like movement or something, about the combat yeah, maybe is shit, but again, at least it's better than shitty fallout 3

>It's basically what makes Bethesda games popular
Bethesda games are popular because they are just a loop of go somewhere, kill things, loot things, repeat, FNV's quests in the other hand are more than that, each quest has something to say about the people that live there and about the overall story of the Fallout franchise

>This game is horribly overrated, but I did enjoy it.
Glad you enjoyed it despite saying it's trash
