A marketing agenda to alter the perception of games as being 'for boys/men'. Over time they expect games will be for males and females alike, which will increase sales. In this process they alienate existing customers and fans. They also seem to underestimate the biological differences between men and women and the influence these differences have on their tastes and choices of hobby. Men will always be more autistically task-oriented and competitive. It's part of modern hubris to deny things like this, and hopefully it'll go away sooner rather than later. In the meantime enjoy having your hobby marketed towards anyone but you.
