I recently purchased pic related because I've never played any games in the series and wanted to at least give them a shot, but holy fuck they are so goddamn hard, I barely made it passed the Frankenstein/midget combo boss, and the grim reaper is kicking my fucking ass. Are all these games this hard? Any tips for this series? Yes, I know I'm a pleb and scrub that needs to git gud, but this game is legitimately frustrating

Slow down but also do things swiftly and with confidence.

IV is easier. The Japanese versions of I and III are also easier and should be added in an update.
Death gets fucked by holy water. You can get a double shot upgrade for your sub weapon if you hit 10 enemies with it. You can do it again for a triple shot.

Classicvania is pure git gud material. The only bit of help I can give you is that you should throw subweapons at candles, what
said about 10 enemies also applies to candles.

>IV is easier
Ehh, the last couple of stages get pretty nasty with lots of sudden-death platforming.

>go slow but also quickly
>do the above in an arrogant manner

Great tips!

IV is easier until the last couple stages where it reminds you you're playing Castlevania

All NES games and SNES games are that fucking hard

Utilize your sub weapons, don't rely soley on the whip.

Daggers are shit but good for hitting enemies far away for quick cheap damage, Holy water can stack and do tons of damage allowing you to also whip enemies while it burns them, crosses act like boomerangs, and axes are great for taking out enemies above you or stopping them in their arcs.

For stage 5 if you want to make it easier, try to hold onto the holy water or cross before you face Death.

>be old gamer who played the NES in it's heyday
>we took these games' difficulty for granted and didn't think anything of it
>didn't start seeing this "Nintendo Hard" meme on the internet until around the PS2 era

Did the PS1/Saturn/N64 era really handhold gamers so much that they can't take a little bit of challenge?
