every game that tried to do the Saving Private Ryan "omg this is so brutal and reel!!1" ended up really lame and trite. favourite wwii game is sniper elite 2 because slow motion x-ray shots are cool and it has decent shooting mechanics
Oliver Anderson
I tried playing Sniper Elite 2 the other day and just got bored. Felt like a run of the mill linear third person shooter and I really disliked the slow motion x-ray. Surprised the series is so popular but that's my take on it.
Jose Cruz
what makes you say that?
Oliver Green
Hidden and Dangerous
Day of Infamy
Hell’s Highway.
Btw. I want to try Close Combat. Which game should I play first?
Lincoln Perez
I'll never play it again, but in the sophie's choice of "least bad wwii game" it wins.
Anthony Morris
Tbh Sniper Elite V2 is pretty bad, 3 and 4 own it more and have wackier scenarios and bigger more open missions.
There are plenty of great WW2 games that stand well above Sniper Elite V2
Tyler Sanchez
Depending on what theater you want and how old you're willing to go. Personally I really like Gateway to Caen which is the most up to date one and is pretty decent. Brits v Germans western front stuff. Another great one is Iron cross/Close Combat 3 which is eastern front and linear campaign with troops you carry over with you as opposed to Gateway to Caen's more skirmish based tactical campaign map. Whichever you choose they all play pretty much the same and are good fun. If you've played any RTT game you already know whats up. Try to always have eyes on your enemy, advance slowly and keep to cover.
Hidden and Dangerous 2 is one of my favorite games of all time. It's a clunky, buggy piece of shit that irritates the hell out of me sometimes but there's nothing else quite like it.
Levi Bennett
Red Orchestra definitely
Jace Edwards

I don't know much about what you're referring to. Only criticisms I really hear about some of the games is that half the series is a cashgrab re-release of the other half. Have a look at Gateway to Caen, it's very polished and well done and feels like a complete package unlike Panthers in the Fog. Play around with it and see if you like it, then go from there to earlier entries. Or you can wait for the next release of Close Combat which has been in the works for half a decade and promises a new 3d engine which looks neat.
Commandos 2 Destination Paris mod a goat.
Connor Reyes
Call of Duty World at War
Blake Morales
I like operational level WW2 games, and my favorite is probably Command Ops (there's a second version/revision out that I haven't played yet.) You send orders to your troops with actual order delay, time artillery strikes with big pushes into enemy territory, and react to whatever the enemy is doing on screen. It's a great game, and I highly recommend it.
Elijah Fisher
Gays are mentally ill and man will never be a woman no matter how much they screech and mutilate their pp

I read somewhere that recent Close Combat games were made mostly for fans which are used to its difficulty. Well, I’ll try Gateway to Caen. Thanks user!

If you have any experience with RTT games in general you shouldn't have too much trouble. Play the training scenarios, have a look on youtube for some tactics and then play a few battles yourself to see what's up and how everything works. I was never big on the series but recently got into it starting with Gateway to Caen then played through Iron Cross. It never felt too difficult. I did read some reviews from >gaming journalists who claim it's somewhat difficult but then again as a regular played you already know that in these types of games it's good to always have eyes on the enemy, do your best to flank, move slowly and not take unnecessary risks. Also the mixture of artillery barrages and bombings makes the game a lot easier in a pickle. I think you'll have a blast user.

Germany lost to a coalition of the three strongest empires on the planet during the 1940s, the US won the cold war and the "Russians" collapsed. Honestly, I have no idea why you believe such-Oh wait a minute, you're a retard. Never mind.

The Gameplay in the marine sections (esp Hard/Vet) is the best representation of the hell that was the Pacific

Kinda yeah
It's faster paced compared to RO2 since you get assault rifles and you get some fun new toys like tripmines
Sound design is worse though
Joshua Ortiz
is there a mod you can get to skip cutscenes in hell's highway? i wanna replay it but i think I remember you couldn't skip them and that always drove me nuts.
Lucas Torres
That game was so fucking bland that I can’t believe that they made a remaster of it.
>game is called Sniper Elite, but instead of assassinations or supporting sniper roles, you’re basically this one man super killer commando guy sent to advance into enemy territory and kill 100 guys in every mission
>stealth fucking sucks, the only silenced weapon is a silenced Welrod that is willy inaccurate, and if you fail to headshot with it, fuck you, now the entire enemy army is on your arse
>and even if you manage to stealth properly, then the game throws you into forced action sequences where you need to kill those 100 guys
>and many of forced action sequences involve interiors or other close quarters combat situations, leading to you needing to use SMGs etc. non-sniper weapons, and oh man the combat is clunky and sucky with them
Apparently 3 and 4 give you a lot more freedom and open-ended approaches to allow for you to play them like you’d expect from the series name, but 2 just felt like as if it was trying its best to force you into those situations where the gameplay sucks the most. What a shitshow.
Juan Walker
No i meant is RO2 worth $20?
Jordan Moore
Pretty much this. It’s either a stealth game that doesn’t give you the tools or room required to actually complete the objectives silently, or an 3rd person shooter that feels clunky as hell.
To be honest, I have no idea how they could have made an entire game out of just sniping sections, but there’s no excuse for how mediocre or plain bad the game is outside of them.
Easton Clark
Just play CC3 The Russian Front
