It's not very good. Honestly, these sex as combat games are kind of terrible and make sex boring and uninteresting. The best games separate sex and combat like a video game separates gameplay and story cutscenes. Only most of them fuck it up by having the sex as a lose state.

The best porn games I've seen are Violated Heroine and A Dance with Rogues. The former is a RPG Maker game which doesn't count, but the sex scenes are done so right. ADWR on the other hand was a mod for Neverwinter Nights 2 and was done so well. All the sex scenes were written nicely while the game itself is just a D&D adventure with silly characters.

I don't think we will ever see "reasonable" companies ever do porn, at least not for the next 50 years or so, simply given the nature of those industries and how long it would take for them to change. The market for porn vidya is still marginal compared to non-porn video, and it's existence would be inherently controversial. Far more people would take a hostile stance against adult entertainment oriented video games than say, rts video games, or something like that. For now, it seems porn game development is mostly inhabited by incompetent morons that couldn't build a complete project even outside of porn, save a few exceptions. I don't think Subverse will suddenly convince existing developers to do porn, but it could at least be a nice model for other retards to strive for. The bar currently is incredibly low, even amongst Japanese devs, Subverse's scope is way, way bigger than anything we've seen.

Takes a lot of skill and hard work to make anything decent, and that means putting a lot of time and especially money upfront for any company wanting to make this sort of thing. Porn games are usually independent project. And anything above vanilla shit can't go on early access on Steam.

Which means they need to use Patreon. And Patreon is actively designed to reward slowing down development time as much as possible. If you're payed monthly, and you don't have managers and publishers and so on ontop of you to make deadlines, you're going to absolutely drag development as much as possible.
And they do, people let them do it and still pay. Why? Because they can't get their fix anywhere else. Big AAA companies don't do porn, Japan only does shitty visual novels or metroidvanias, or softcore (with notable exceptions) so they just have to each shit.

So that's how you end up with hundreds and hundreds of flash games that take 6 months to go from version 0.1 to version 0.1.1. And that's if you're lucky, since a ton of devs just cancel the game and vanish off the face of the earth with the money.

It's a real shame, because as certain patreon projects show, there is a huge demand for western porn games. Summertime Saga makes 60k a month for what's essentially a shitty flash game solo developers were making for Newgrounds back in 2006. But apparently, it takes a team of 8 and 4 years or however long it's been in development for it to get to version 0.3.
Even niche genres within porn games, like text games, have huge demand. Fenoxo's CoC, TiTS and CoC2 still make massive amounts of cash and have big modding communities.

Steam could benefit from some sort of incognito mode, something short of making your entire profile private or unfriending everybody. Going to the effort fo making a new account would be a pain.
