>Sen.Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) on Wednesday announced that he will introduce legislation banning "manipulative" online game features he says can push children to become addicted to technology. >TheFederal Trade Commission (FTC) would be tasked with enforcing the ban, and state attorneys general would also be empowered to file lawsuits against companies who violated the rules.
Meanwhile there's fat as fuck children. Where are the laws preventing kids from buying McDonald's?
Landon Jones
Unfortunately in life you sometimes have to settle for second best.
Caleb Foster
Who cares? Fat fucks buying mcdonalds doesn't ruin my delicious steak dinner whereas retards buying lootboxes means more games get lootboxes
Lincoln Phillips
based republicans cringe democRats doing nothing for us
Jace Gray
go ahead I don't really care
Jaxson Taylor
>bipartisan support from democrats and republicans irl >bipartisan support from commies and nazis on the internet >whales and libertarian corporate bootlickers crying blessed bill
Levi Martin
Yes it does. Fast food chains displace real restaurants.
Matthew Edwards
There should be laws fighting against unhealthy food, actually.
Parker Stewart
wont affect any of us, they'll find a new way to jew or just push games to be AO rating to suck the money out of whales
whales aren't children
Jace Taylor
What's with the implication that only video games can be addicting? I would say that the current addiction to social media is far more harmful.
Justin Sanders
There has been attempts but it's much harder to do. Michelle Obama got shut down hard when she tried to encourage healthy eating.
Levi Anderson
Social media consumption should be regulated as well.
Who the fuck wants to eat at a proper restaurant on the highway
Lincoln Harris
Because tons of people travel through those areas and they make a stop so they can get food FAST and go back to driving. Have sex
Lincoln Jones
>plays videogame >WONT SOMEBODY PPPPPPPPLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE THINK OF THE CHILDREN
>bombs children >.
Justin Collins
Have sex
Dylan Morris
It won't get enforced.
Owen Turner
"Wont somebody think of the children" is just a meme to get normies on board. No one actually cares about the children, they just want no lootboxes.
Elijah Torres
It will if the government thinks they can make money out of it through fines.
Justin Ortiz
>Government stepping in and ending a cancerous business model because AAA publishers cannot stop being jewish enough. Good riddance. Hopefully it also covers gatcha games so we can get rid of another type of cancer along the way. As a cherry on top Libertarians get to cry tears because "Muh Guvament"
Samuel Ortiz
When it comes to lootbox gambling they may have something. But since they are using words like manipulative and addiction they could theoretically ban games for features that have nothing to do with lootboxes. Its a slippery slope and probably shouldnt pass. Republicans have been anti vidya since the beginning. Just because idiot SJW joined the fray does not mean we should trust the GOP for even a second.
Its a damn shame I would love to see loot boxes go and for EA to suffer but this is a fix something now bill with the intention of ruining gaming later type bill.
Gabriel Powell
That wording is vague as hell and that's always dangerous. That said, I'm not shedding any tears. Anything that screws up with the biggest studios is great.
Wyatt Perez
Ya but these laws always have unforeseen consequences that someone ends up using maliciously or unintentionally to fuck you over in other ways. An example is online poker in RDR2 being banned in certain places. Shit like that will get worse and more prevalent. Though I will say the answer of "just dont buy it and it will go away" doesnt work either. So I dont know.
Michael Lopez
autism post
Colton Diaz
>R GOOD >D BAD
Jordan Williams
>push children can we stop calling neets children?
Blake Sanchez
It sounds good but seeing how it was put forward by a Republican I have to assume there's a catch.
Luis Cruz
fuck these people. They are being lobbied or paid by people to do this. Like the porn laws in the uk it's won't touch places like instargam or facebook
Ryan Diaz
>"manipulative" online game features he says can push children to become addicted to technology. Boy that sounds vague and all encompassing. Would randomized gear drops also count of they provide the same dopamine rush as gambling?
Eli Allen
is this law going to affect micro transactions as well? or what about the cost of games?
Matthew Turner
On one hand, it should be on parents to limit what purchases their children are making. On the other, maybe it will make devs/publishers less Jew.
Nathan Thomas
This
Landon Ross
expect a new video game crash when the prices skyrocket to about $150 for a AAA release
Liam Butler
The problem with making unprincipled arguments about "protecting the children" like this is that you're opening up video games as a whole to these types of attacks. In the future, people will just have to argue "well it's to protect the children, you care about the children don't you?" whenever they want to ban or regulate something else. I think lootboxes SHOULD be regulated, but using this kind of justification will just backfire.
Adam Miller
god i want this law to pass with all my heart
does this fucking guy even play video games? can't believe a normie is about to save the industry
Hunter Roberts
WINNIE THE POOH
Jonathan Perez
devs prolly know that raising prices above 60 will put off 99% of people who buy games, so they'll resort to loopholes or other garbage
Aaron Richardson
How can I send him my energy to help?
Sebastian Howard
I can't think of anyone who would defend lootboxes except the people who put them into their games.
Kayden Garcia
Good, fuck publishers and FUCK the video game industry.
Why? There should just be laws making companies reveal nutrition information, why do you have to force people to eat healthy?
William Gonzalez
I hope this passes. Never bought one of these shits. And it stops zoomers from ODing on wasting their parents money on stupid fucking $15 costumes and dances with no value.
Dylan Wright
In order to kill every single whale with poor impulse control is passing that bill.
