Signs point towards it potentially being the best introduction to fighting games ever released, even if the rest of the game actually turns out to be shit. ArcSys makes good tutorials and the game has tons of baby tools that transition into real tools later if you're a shit.
It's also a footsie fighter which are typically the easiest to reach the floor in, and it's a new fighter series but part of an existing franchise so you can assume a lot of inexperienced players will pad out match making. Even if the game sucks you should be able to use it to transition to better fighters easily.

It is probably going to be the best game for new players. Hope they go in on the tutorial like Xrd did, and not fuck it up like DBFZ's tutorial.

I wouldn't go that far, for motion characters it isn't as huge a deal. As you said we don't know how many charge characters are in, and how many will have invincible flash kicks. For the few that do it will certainly make jump ins more of a risk, the blanka ball may see a few uses for it if it is good for punishing but I don't see it effecting much there.

At best it slightly turns the dial away from aggressive play. The game seems to be doing a good job at having a mix of aggressive and defensive mechanics.

When you make a crossover game, you need to dumb it down if you want to attempt to balance it.

I hate having to grip the DS4 to get to 6 buttons in SF so I hope the skill button won't be too mandatory and I can just rebind guard to R1.

That skill button is literally only if you want to the easy input of skills and get the slower cooldown. The only way it'll be important to anyone competent at the game might be in regards to instant charge attacks for charge characters like Charlotta which we'll have to wait and see how that plays out in the actual game.

Yeah that's what I'm worried about. Plus instant DPs might make it situationally useful enough that you have to be prepared to do it anyway.

Maintaining two versions, even when most of the work is done for translation, is a lot of work. They'd need to port content over from the original to an international version manually every time they wanted to do stuff, figure out how to distribute years worths of content again without being so slow that the game is dead in the water or going so fast that players have to no life to keep up, and licensing is a fucking mess internationally for collabs and other events.
And then after all of that it might just not pay off because their only clientele will be people interested in the game that aren't already playing on the better along Japanese server. There's really no likelihood that it'd be a good decision when they have no problem redirecting people to the JP game.

Really the language doesn't matter rather that the rightholders in different regions are sometimes different companies so they have to work out contracts each company. You get around this by limiting the regions your collab is officially released in like what Shadowverse did with their Idolmaster stuff.
