Play DQ8 on a ps2 emulator. I replay it atleast once a year it’s that good.
By far still the best DQ game to date.

Is there an import save bonus from DQB1 cause that'll decide if I want it for the ps4 or the Switch.

I believe you get 2 or 3 exclusive items with a save transfer

Gamefly is pretty great. I used it as a demo service a few years ago, before I really got back into PC gayman.

All the videos of multiplayer I see are just building. They never fight or explore caves etc.

Dang, that's a bit of a letdown if true. I'll still get it, don't get me wrong but might have to skip out on the multiplayer unless there's maybe base defense segments.

sounds like the main game kinda treats your 'home' island as primarily just a base for upgrading and housing people and shit, and you go all around to other big islands for adventure. I'm sure there's some base defense kind of stuff at some point but i bet it's not available in multiplayer

The DS version is 2. 1 was on GBA and also has no translation patch.

From the trailers I've seen, movement is a whole lot faster which was one of my biggest issues with the first game. By the time you got anywhere, it was already night time in game. Not sure but building also seems a lot faster which was another problem with the first game I had, took me actual real life days just to build up my town in free mode and it was nothing big or fancy either. Even when you hoarded enough materials and already knew what and how you were going to build something, it still took forever to build something.

Another user who played the JP release I think mentioned something about they replaces how story mode worked in the first game, can't remember exactly though.

Such a shame, Rocket Slime 3 is the best one in the series by far.

Yep. You can only play multiplayer on friend's island so building shit only, no exploration or fighting.

Minecraft + Dragon Quest

isn't this just babby Dark Cloud?

Pretty much in terms of the mainline story quests, but then it turns into minecraft in free play mode. I'm a big enough Dark cloud fan and DQ fan to enjoy it though and I'm looking forward to the second game.
