Turning him gay put the final nail in the coffin for this trashfire of a game.

You making this thread

This

It went beyond retardation

draw attention away from the controversy at the time

It got you talking about it which is all it ever was, a publicity stunt to get social media traction.
I see threads about it every damn day and I haven't played Overwatch since the year it came out, so I guess it did its job because you all reacted exactly the way they wanted you to.

This pretty much. There were negative articles about Blizzard every day back then.

It didn't do anything to gameplay and was meant for the fans. Literally has no impact to the average player. I don't see whats wrong with this? Should large companies not market their games anymore to demographics? It's their shit, let them decide on what to do with it.

How can you even be upset with it? Was OW some holy grail of not-gayness for you?

Don't think it beneffited anyone. Let's be honest any gay with the slightest taste would rather be plowed by Reinhardt

This. I don’t know why it makes more sense but it just makes more sense

To get people like you to talk about the game. All a marketing stunt.

It's because he's on rollerblades.

>Did nothing to the gameplay
>His usage went down by about half

How would you feel if they just decided to make, say, Batman gay after years of pretty much knowing he isnt and it being really blatantly obvious that they are doing it solely to take advantage, and subsequently the money, of mentally ill people? Do you think it's right to pander when the sole purpose is to make their green paper number go up?

Are you telling me people are so fucking butthurt about the sexual orientation of a fake person, announced down the road in the game's release in a side-comic that isn't even fucking referenced in the game that they refuse to play him? It has nothing to do with any changes they made with his kit or a new meta? Literally just 76 being gay? Those people should just not be so thin-skinned.

That makes sense

Based makes sense poster

I may be a homophobe because now I find him less cool. Like a lot less cool.

Based players

>after years of pretty much knowing he isn't
Except that isn't the case for Soldier. He existed for two years (I guess older if we're counting original beta concept, but that character and the current one are not penned by the same people). In that time, he's never been shown to have any romantic interest with anyone, he's a blank slate on that. His character is 'old, gruff veteran fighting past his days' and that's it.

That's their property to do so with user. If making batman gay allows DC to keep their business running, then that's what they are going to do.

It succeeded in killing the game, a lot of normalfags I know dropped it after that

If they're going to pull off such obvious tricks, why should anyone even pretend to respect it?

Why should the company care about your personal opinion of it? As far as I can tell, OW is still being played.

have sex

Bringing his backstory in line with the character's design

draw attention away from the controversy at the time and catter to SJWs

he's a bad example of LGBT representation anyway

imagine avoiding using a character because he's gay, bet those people are 12
