I need answers

What are you talking about? There was a thread two days ago bitching and moaning about Ratchet.

I love Ratchet's feet and wish he went barefoot more often

>muh furry cereal box
ebin thread

The first game in the series is the only 10/10.

The developers grew out of making fun games. No new games equals nothing to discuss. I really enjoyed the first three. I wouldnt mind a few new games back in that style or genre.

>Another smash autist
Gtfo retard

1st game
>great introduction of concept
>shooting is bad but the combo of shooting and platforming was novel
>dialogue/story was legit funny
2nd game
>holy fucking shit the 1st one 20 times better
>guns are better, shooting is better
>keeps the platforming and level design of the first one
>masterpiece
3rd game
>still good, loses platforming prowess
>level design more linear and shorter
>over-reliance on multiplayer
Deadlocked
>trying too hard to be a shooter
>loses any of the charming storytelling or dialogue
>edgy shit for teens

everything after this is irredeemable garbage because somehow Insomniac went the polar opposite direction from Deadlocked.

the PS3 games are more linear, with worse shooting, with absolute kiddie tier storytelling and dialogue.

we don't even want to talk about teh remake

I always said the best way to fix nuRatchet is for Insomniac to streamline the series into one continuity like they did with Spider-Man.
Just pick up right from the remake. Take the happy, boy scout Ratchet then break him. Have a commercal montage of all the significant parts of the mythos, even the PSP games. Ratchet is now a bitter mess from fifteen odd years of his heroics. You have an excuse to revert back to his old personally, while keeping his status as galatic hero.

It was killed off by a slew of mediocre sequels and spin-offs, followed by a disappointing reboot.

Kill yourself Personafag

>killed off
Stop. Not even the success of Spiderman can halt Ratchet & Clank. Insomniac built an entire studio to make those games.

Still more relevant than Banjoke

The third game goes full shooter bruh, even the dev team themselves stated that the third game was much more of a TPS than the second.

Deadlocked just did TPS better than the third game, it's only downside is its level design, beyond that it was just as good if not better than 3.

Imagine being this much of a zoomer that you missed out on one of the best game series on the best console released.

>Trashtalking based Deadlocked
Here's your (You)

MY DICK

delusional

I don't follow the series but what do you mean killed off? The last game came out only 3 years ago and was received very well. Insomniac have been busy with sponderman and VRtrash since.

Facts are delusion? Will you kill yourself once another R&C gets revealed?

Its audience its so limited ,literally only people born in the 90s,aka 00s kids, and a big part of those wont buy these games again

Ratchet 2 is so goddamn good. I love 3 and Deadlocked but I feel like 2 was the epitome of the series despite it being rushed in some aspects.

Shame Yea Forums doesn't really talk about the series all that much, but it's kind of hard to keep talking about the same game for like 20 years.

Always felt 2 was the best as well.

Ratchet & Clank Going Commando has so much unused stuff that's still being discovered today.

3 has the best mood imo, 2's storyilne was too linear

The ps4 game is literally the best selling title of the series, stop making shit up retard.

>That deadlocked """criticism"""
Fucking cope.

Attached: 1450384287244.jpg (500x375, 57K)

I thought it was the fastest selling not the best.

Can we agree that the series' writing lost a lot with the PS3/PS4 episodes? ACIT was somewhat fine but ToD and the remake had some horrible writing that tried taking itself too seriously but lost all the personality the series used to have.

I would hope the remake is because the movie is awful that its affected the game’s writing

>>loses any of the charming storytelling or dialogue

Attached: 1231.jpg (1280x720, 515K)

ok Kids bought it because of the movie, would they buy another one?
NO,they probably dont even remember it anymore KEK

Yeah it started going downhill with the future games.

Are you retarded? The movie was flop, nobody saw that shit. The game on the other hand is a massive success, the franchise was even referenced in the last Avengers film. Ratchet is not going anywhere for a loooong time stupid faggot.

Poor bastards that were introduced to the series through either of those things.

PS3 titles were bad, re-using same guns over and over, PS4 one killed it. Plasma coil is after the bouncer and both after the RYNO, a fan favorite. did we get it ever again? nope. we got shit like a gun that launches nets and tornados you have to guide yourself while also evading enemy fire. Scorpion Flail? nope, have a shitty whip that turns red at max level.

>Insomniac kills Ratchet to pursue capeshit for shekels
Spyro and Crash got a fateful remasters of their most beloved trilogies by third party developers while Ratchet fans got half a remake of one game that took a dump all over the OG from Insomniac.

Attached: ck2 the just.png (295x290, 66K)

Yep I know my 7yo cousin and his friends did,Im sure a lot of other kids aswell

Some of the weapons were really good though. Tornado is very underrated.
ACIT introduced a neat equivalent to the plasma coil

That glitch only happens in the HD re-releases, if you're trying to shit on the PS2 games.

which is?

Sure there were some stinkers on the PS3 but ACiT was great and ToD was pretty good as well.

-reusing the starter weapon, combustor, that wasn't even fun or pretty to use. fucking kek man.

this

>when you gun has so little power it's ammo literally falls off the enemy, on the ground

The only problem I have with 2 is that the last boss fight was far too easy and run of the mill, especially compared to 3

I loved how military joined in to fight the thing, but was too retarded to make priorities and shot you too.

I dislike the spaceship levels, the rapid obsoletion of weapons and unfun skill points too

Why the PS3 games are so bland?

3's final boss was absolute kino. Shame the fucking robot is the only one you can replay. What a terrible part 2 after the great finale of Nefarious

eh? my game had a mission for nefarious too. you just had to die at Biobliterator and choose it in the dropship.

I couldn't get it on the ps3 version. I just made an extra save.
Fav Rac?

2, most weapons, best atmosphere. nefarious is a seething comic villain retard. 3 went too silly for me.

Sony only cares about their generic 3rd person over the shoulder cinematic experiences now. They have mostly abandoned their older franchise like Ratchet, didn't help the ps3 games sucked.

platformers as a genre have all but died

I would kill a kitten for Jak 4

The series peaked on the PS2 is why. The PS3 games were fine but there just isn't much to talk about any more.

It’s really annoying that I can’t really play any R&C game on PS4. The remake loses a lot of the charm because it had to tie into the unfortunately awful and boring movie. The gameplay was still ok but I’m just s sucker for the formula so I’m easily pleased. It’s still the worst one of course unless you’re counting Size Matters. But yeah I want to play the OT/Deadlocked and ToD on PS4. And it’s annoying anough to play any other of the R&C games (tbf ACiT May be my favourite) I need to subscribe to PSNow and stream the damn thing. I’m craving R&C and Sony won’t gib. They put Jak & Daxter on the PlayStation Classic bit but still haven’t added R&C and it’s really annoying and baffling why it isn’t there. Really hope for a new game soon but it has lost its direction a bit and now Insomniac obviously more focused on Spider-Man 2

Reminder the PS3 games are irredeemable garbage and if you like them you aren't a true fan.

>How come the series isn't as discussed anymore
Because it hasn't had any good games in years
>how come it isn't as popular anymore?
see above

>dislike spaceship levels
Now, why is that? I've heard that other fans didn't like them either.
Sure they were hard, if not downright brutal at first (Hubris Cloud, regenerating super turrets) but I guess I liked the aspect of getting new weapons and tools to take those shits down.

The retard that thought it was too hard? Wasn't that like a week ago?

Platformers may be somewhat niche now but there is still potential for the game to grow and be inventive and show off impressive physics. For example, I loved when I played ToD for the first time and the boxes actually reacted and fell over when I destroyed the base ones, something they had somewhat teased in the Insomniac Museum in R&C3. They can expand on this with ice and water effects. Rocks/debris, lava also. Allow some destruction effects that act like those of Red Faction Guerilla where I can shoot the struts of a tower and have it fall over and smash over the floor. Same with a cliff face. Real time shit. Have the classic multi path worlds with set routes and hidden secrets as well as gadget mini games but also have a world or two that are somewhat open world. They’ve experimented with this a number of times in really small instances but making a large inter sectioning platforming world that is a somewhat wide open playground could be interesting. Bring over the one interesting element of Size Matters and have different functioning armour qualities that can be mixed and matched but do best stats as a matching set (or secret special one). Allow ship customisation and free travel and battles like ACiT. Huge arsenal of old and new weapons that actually level up cool again. Like ratchet and clank 2 awesome cool and I want to see the weapon change slightly every level then dramatically change at level 5. Then omega becomes available on Challenge Mode. Then I want to see more cosmetic improvements to weapons again to level 10. Then say after 5 Chellenge Modes I want ultimate weapons that go to Level 20. These weapons will scale with the challenges of challenge modes as enemies get harder you need a stronger weapons. A level 20 RYNO would be amazing especially on next generation physics tech. I’d also like mods to return as well and add certain set and universal traits to weapons. I’d really like the Arenas of Ratchet and Clank 2 and 3 to return

Completely disagree. ToD, QFB, and ACiT are great games

The opening level to ToD blew me away when I first played it. All those moving parts on screen at once was something I hadn't seen before. But ToD also took a great number of steps backward and the remake was also a simplified and disappointing affair. Ratchet can move forward, but it won't.

Please explain, user, what is being discovered?

They really went far for the opening level, it looked great, but the next ones weren't as impressive.
ACIT did something kind of similar with that planet where you fight the big ship.

I’ll play R&C, Sly, and Jak games forever

aCiT's time travelling level was awesome, the whole game should have been like that. Some of the more open battle ground levels like Krell Canyon also gave the game some much needed level design variety, along with giving you more options to utilise the hoverboots.

Looking back on ToD, the level design was really unremarkable.

Gameplay wise it could've been interesting, it was pretty dumb though

>no ratchet don't change time it'll affect everything
>oh wait we need a ship? let's change the fate of this planet then

>and how come it isn't as popular anymore?
the PS4 R&C is literally the most successful the franchise has ever been

Attached: 6373556456.jpg (673x1024, 123K)

Yeah there was a big gameplay/story segregation thing going on there. But out of all the post-PS2 Ratchet games, aCiT shakes up the formula the most and feels like it has the most to offer.

it didn't even sell as many copies as the original over 15 years ago and the movie was a huge flop

Yeah, ACIT was where their creativity shined.
TOD played it pretty safe like 3 did but lacked the personality 3 had and some of the polish too, resulting in a forgettable Ratchet overall, not bad, not great either.
QFB was only forgettable because it was like 2 hours long. Other than that, it was a pretty interesting experiment and they nailed it really well, wish they'd expand on this formula.

ACIT is good shit

I don't remember shit about QfB. Better replay it some time.

Ratchet, believe it or not has always be niche. The series hasn't even surpassed 30M lifetime sales yet. Uncharted is nearly 50M.

been*

R&C is a more successful franchise than God of War

Pretty Much what said Cute Kat

Attached: Ratchet 1 to 3.jpg (1920x1080, 861K)

Ratchet alongside Cooper/Rayman/Jax were basically the last fresh Platformer mascots after the Mario Sonic Crash of the 90's

The Genre honestly needs fresher faces

It’s a damn shame. If the people who made the game then could make it now with today’s tech it could but such an amazing franchise again

It's too early for PS2 trilogy remakes. The ps4 one was done to tie into the movie. That being said, I'm confident that with the next generation, we'll get R&C, Jak and Sly Cooper trilogy remakes.

That thread has happened a few times over the past year and some change. It's bait.
