Atelier Lulua started development in June 2018 and was released March 2019 that is an insane development time for a 60 hour JRPG. Working at Gust must be 24/7/365 crunch time. Lulua is on Switch and it's probably one of the best-looking and running rpgs on the system in handheld mode, no disasters like Vita L&S for the time being. Ryza is obviously the same engine so it should be fine, and I doubt they'd have the time or money to make the games look any better if they were just on PS4 or PC anyway, it's just not how Gust/KT works.

But will it have good gameplay?

Well, that doesn't have anything to do with the game being on a handheld or not and everything to do with Gust's game design philosophy. I haven't enjoyed the Ateliers with no time limits as much as those that had them for instance, but that's what the series is nowadays so I must deal with it. For what it's worth, it seems like they're going the adventuring route like Firis again.

I understand that you're trying to say that Atelier games are all lazy rehashes that have stagnated for the past two, approaching three generations. What was new and interesting in rorona and totori is now old and tired, and so on. I get where you're coming from even if I still enjoy the series despite this.

That said, the presence of recycled assets themselves has nothing to do with this. Take a game like Majoras Mask, which is about 86% recycled assets, but reworked in such a way that it seems fresh and interesting. It's much more an issue of lazy design work than it is actual asset recycling.

The open world was just so fucking boring. Which was understandable since I doubt anyone can make an interesting open world with Atelier development times and budget.

Not quite, but the Interrupt tutorial tells you that if you use up all the charges on one item, it takes a lot longer for the command to become available again (because the item has to regain uses). And you can notice it as soon as you use Interrupt the first time and then enter another battle.
