The game isn't hard, dealing with your teammates who have just as much an effect on the outcome as you do is hard, because even if you're godly you can't change retarded teammates throwing the match away.

7.X, arguably the new meta changes that lead up to 7.X, but 7.X was pretty much the deathknell to the dota we all knew and loved.

Just some highlights that made the game worse as time went on
>more and more free gold mechanics (deny gold, bounty runes, talents)
>Nearly doubling the amount of creep camps, the quality of the creep camps, and making it easier to jungle
>more free mechanics like scan and shrines
>Constantly nerfing ward costs to the point where anyone can just run around with a billion wards because they're practically free now, even more so due to all the free gold
>reworking every hero to become a teamfight hero, thus removing a lot of depth of the game
>all of this leading up to the cancerous buyback meta where you just can't win on good plays and good ganks
>so much free gold makes carries an inevitability, not something you can shut down with good early and mid game play, because there pretty much is no early or mid game anymore

Everyone wants that e-sports meta thats fun to watch, not to play.

The ricing meta didn't work and it never did, it was something china teams did and got shut down fucking hard by the more aggressive EU teams.
