>pay $800 for state of the art GPU
>only have tech demos on 20yo engines to play
Feels good not being a goy.
>Quake 2
>not 1
fucking why
Wonderful. I can replay a shit game, now with ill-fitting lighting!
Because Quake 1 is a State of Art that needs no modifications, and Darkplaces is shit.
Quake 2 on the Other hand needs badly because Idtech 2 for Q2 is garbage, also Nvidia will release the tools for modders dabble on RTX, which i bet that no one will abandon the garbage that is OpenGL for DX12 or Vulkan
>Bugmen defending the garbage Unreal
QW, Quake 2 and Q3A MP >>>>>> Unreal garbage
Literally the first person to mention Unreal, friendo. I think you have the wrong thread.
Why the hell can't it be Unreal.
Quake 2 SP is boring as fuck.
because Unreal is garbage
No, but id games are.
Are you EPIC niggers really desperate?
who are you quoting?
>Completely ruining the atmosphere
What the fuck? Getting some serious Skedar Ruins vibes from every single level.
for what purpose
>LOOK WE ALSO PUT A SUN TO SHOW HOW RTS COMPLETEY CHANGE A GAME
It's amazing that modern devs are so different from the devs in the 90's where everything had to be dark, grim atmosphere and edgy.
WoW is a good exemple as well where everything looks like a Disney movie now.
NINTENDO...
>Quack 2
Nah
Quake 1 or 4 would be the better choices.
It doesn't give off the same atmosphere at all being that bright. But I guess I don't really care that much, I'm way more of a Quake 1 purist.
hope they can port this to other quake 2 powered games, and that they extend this to other engines.
absolutely ascended taste friend
Why does it look worse
Why would I play a shiny version of a game that I can play right now and have been playing for almost 20 years?
Sourceports look better than this.
It just turns up the brightness, what's the big deal?
They added visible sunrays on a planet that has permanent overcast.
>needs rtx card
yeah good job on making boomers buy that snake oil for a game they played like a decade ago, i wouldn't buy the rtx shit for a single game even though it looks nice and weird at the same time
>youtube.com
How can this shit look better than Unreral 4 garbage?
EXPRAIN DIS BUGMEN?
But you know what this means, right?
Time to start searching for the practically-new cards that those boomers are throwing out.
It's almost like brooding atmosphere is important to the Quake experience.
I don't understand how they can look at the difference and not understand "the dark was a design choice."
based af.
Now, it is a reason to buy a RTX card, but I rather wait for Nvidia's new card that would be revealed next few weeks.
Because Quake 2 WASN'T DARK, all of Quake 2's events + Mission packs happened between 6am to 6pm
if you want a "how quake 1 would look like with the right modern effects" look at DUSK.
now that its confirmed that the new AMD cards are double fucking with RTX Cards, expect them decreasing the price in 200 or so bucks to sell it fast.
its INSANE how AMD redeemed themselves in a timespan of 6 years
>new AMD cards are double fucking with RTX Cards
Really? Navi? I heard that it is not designed to compete against 2080ti. More like 1660.
>I heard that it is not designed to compete against 2080ti.
The rumour is that their next card is slightly faster than a 2070.
Still nothing about the price.
>slightly
meh. My 980 ti shows it age, I need a powerful card to replace it. I want 2080 ti, but not that ridiculous price.
>I'm a quake 1 purist
>posts bethesshit outsourced dumpster fire version of ranger
I really don't have many Quake Ranger reaction images. It's a problem, I know.
It's a tech demo you dolt.
All of it will be revealed at E3, but if the next gen rumors are Right.
Say goodbye to Compatibility issues with Console to PC ports, mainly PS5.
Plus MS confirmed that DX12 will run RTSS without the help of any cores and it will feature more performance.
They will Cut the prices drastically to compete against AMD, once the card specs are out during E3.
We know that They will be Released Soon after Ryzen.
im sure this is cool but what are the chances of a Quake 1 RTX version? even if it would lose the atmosphere I still think it'd be cooler than quake 2
>>Say goodbye to Compatibility issues with Console to PC ports, mainly PS5.
Tell us more.
Navi is $399 for a 2070 without RTX
Miss me with that shit
Once the code is released, but don't expect it running on OpenGL.
Rumors states that All of next Gen will run on NAVI RDNA tech since nvidia is being a bunch of jews about it, but there's not too much news about it.
They didnt said nothing yet about Raytracing and Pathtracting tech at computex, but they will spill the beans at E3
really that lighting should have a reddish orange tint to it, at least attempt to retain the feel of the original.
WHY THE FUCK WOULD THEY CHANGE RAILGUN'S DESIGN?
FUCK I'M BEYOND MAD
AMD shills fuck off. Tired of your whining.
Intel+Nvidia will always be best for gaming.
>replacing the classic artistic lighting with generic cold realism
i fucking detest raytracing, it'll only make devs even lazier just like AO
More soulless than the KEX abominations.
Serious Sam would benefit from this since most levels are sunny as fuck.
Here however its just being stupid
>you paid 1000$ for this
Mirror's Edge would be the best test case.
I don't think it looks good either but they gave the option change the time of day if you want to have a less sunny or brighter game. Plus its open source so you could modify it to be closer to the original dark aesthetic. Or you could just play Schied's Quake VKray since its already closer to the original aesthetic.
>The rumour is that their next card is slightly faster than a 2070.
whoopdeedoo. knowing AMD it will be priced slightly higher than a 2070 so not much will change.
It's using GDDR6 memory, that one might be cheaper than HBM shit.
prime soul/souless example
How much do people have to pay for this quality again?
Wish it was Prey or Doom3 instead tbqh
This
Unreal would benefit a lot from lighting, the environments are a lot better
ignored lol
ok but what is the point of actually using raycasting here instead of baked lighting? the source of light isn't moving, the terrain isn't moving, so really you're making redundant graphics calculations for lighting on every single frame of gameplay. at least with minecraft it makes a little bit of sense since the terrain is always changing, but for quake it's completely fucking pointless. it's like if they decided to simulate physics for every speck of dust. it serves no purpose. this is just one big marketing gimmick they're trying to push down people's throats even though a fleetingly small number of people even within the enthusiast market care about this shit.
But Quake 2's speed and single player was boring trash compared to Quake 1's. So it is the better choice. I agree it doesn't need mods in general, and I still play single player with DirectQ because is the most untouched source port, but still easily allows you to change resolution in-game menus to 4k, etc. I'd at least like to see an official release of using RT on the original Quake (best game of all times). *crack* *sip*
>Stroggos is a nice sunny place
One fucking job. Why are the devs so fucking lazy?
Imagine:
>Take an old shooter
>Add new gore mechanics
>Rework textures a bit
>Add nice lighting and effects
>Add some cluster to the maps and more detail without ruining the original design
>Rework animations a little
What we get:
>Hurf durf, look a sun!!!
gtx support ray tracing too now
Inferior to Quake 2 running with 3DFX Glideā¢.
fuck off nigger, quake was always fly around the map shit,ut99 is the best arena shooter of all time, and the male2 voice is the best thing to ever grace a multiplayer game
