Don't care.
RE4 was the most fun game I've played in years.

fpbp

>RE series wasn't camp horror till 4
Leave.

Doesn't make the game itself bad

Looks like the bot's back again

>tfw we'll probably never get a game that takes the mechanics of RE6 and refines them
feels bad man

>He's right you know

No he's not right. RE4 is pretty much their best selling RE ever.

Lol stupid RE4 fantard is a dumbfuck as usual

Who cares it's the best one

>waaaaaaah my campy b horror series became a campy b horror series with slightly better controls

It’s a good point. Much like how CoD4 ruined the series. They are both excellent and trendsetting games but by being so successful they forced their respective series’ into stagnation for over a decade.

Also like COD4, RE4 isn't any good.

Village > everything else

i actually said this years ago on this site and got beaten down for it, i felt pretty bohemian at the time (and still do)- but glad people are starting to come around to what I said.

RE as a series deserves credit for pioneering genres, but the games themselves are all pretty meh.
Silent Hill is a thousand times better (classic) horror game than RE 1-3.
Dead Space is miles better than RE4+
Hell even Evil Withing is better than anything Resident Evil.

>Evil Within
>good

Shit opinion

Great even. The first one anyway.

There is only one dead space game.

Do read the article.
Only header is negative to be a clickbait, in article itself he calls even Resident Evil 6 a good game.

fpbp

RE6 is a good game, but just not a good Resident Evil game.

Based

4 Started the upwards spiral.
1 was an okay start.
2 was top tier.
3 and CV were severely lacking in comparison.
4 is superior, if a little stiff when going back to it now.
5 had a refined RE4 gameplay and subpar setpieces.
6 had god tier gameplay and shit setpieces (post-patch that got rid of the awful QTEs made it much better).
7 is shit.
Remake 2 is whatever.

I want RE6's evasive movement and shooting mechanics back.

RE6 was such a disaster...

You're right about RE3 being good but CV was the most "Resident Evil" out of the entire series.

I'm playing a horror video game to be scared, not to re-enact Metal Slug! Code Veronica at least understood that.

When it comes to RE6, only one thing needs to be said
Scoot and shoot

Name one series that went on for more than five games never changing up the formula without going stale. RE4 needed to happen otherwise the series would have gotten boring as fuck.

>Game is so good it makes worse games look like shit.
>This is bad.

>RE7
>recovery
Seriously? At least 4 and 5 were good action games. 7 is neither scary, nor a good action game, and absolutely ruined the series' aesthetics with face scan garbage.

Literally peak gameplay for its gen. You don’t keep remastering it if it doesn’t sell.

Megaman
The Legend of Zelda
Final Fantasy
Gears of War
Kirby's Adventure

4 is my favorite entry, but they took exactly the wrong idea from it. It's a shame.

It did. But luckily RE7 happened, just as shit was at its worst..

The franchise is saved, horror has returned and the losers that loved 4,5,6 are banished to the eternal asshurt realm.

>muh anime faces
Grow the fuck up.

Fuck you. Yea Forums had fun
>inb4 cries about normies enjoying your secret niche game
RE6 was fun too. Jake wasn't a terrible character. Cry more, resetera

Shinji Mikami, creator of the series, left after 4. That’s why it went to shit. This is fucking obvious. Stop posting this shitty meme.

>I want RE6's evasive movement and shooting mechanics back.

Kinda misses the point of being a horror game and I still think it's a mistake that RE ever made a serious bid to be an action series. I don't mind some of the changes like OTS but RE has always had a pretty awkward way with action. Early games treated it as a means to an end and 5/6 only kept slower, shambling enemies around because it was series tradition and not because it fit the direction they were actually trying to move in. Armed enemies actually made more sense but everyone hates them because armed enemies don't mix with conventional RE gameplay and you see the sort of negative feedback loop going on here? RE6's mechanics deserve another shot but it needs to stay very, very far away from this series. RE just can't do that style of gameplay due justice.

>RE as a series deserves credit for pioneering genres
Typical ignorant zoomer.
Now google Alone in the Dark.

Fatal Frame. Even after going OTS with 4, the actual core gameplay never substantially changed.

Anime faces? Were we playing the same games?

Even if they were, betraying the aesthetic from the 6 previous games to make everything generic and streamerbait sucks hard.

More like Sweet Home.

This. The game was amazing.

All of those games have drastically changed their formulas as time has went on. I'll give you that most of the beginning Megaman games were the same fucking game but even that series has experimented with wildly different game play. And people think Gears of War has gotten stale as hell and is shit now.

>5 had a refined RE4 gameplay and subpar setpieces.
>6 had god tier gameplay and shit setpieces (post-patch that got rid of the awful QTEs made it much better).
>7 is shit.
>Remake 2 is whatever.
Why 5&6 fans always have the shittiest of tastes?
They remind me of FF VIII&XIII fans, it's fascinating how they like utter garbage, and hate actual masterpieces on top of it.

Not really. The series was already on a downwards spiral. RE4 just continued it in a different direction.
And honestly, a kinda shitty action game is still more enjoyable than a kinda shitty horror game.

If they released RE7 around the time of 4, 5 and 6 it would have sold like shit(well setting aside the fact that RE7 still sold much worse than the action games). Instead they waited until the right moment to try and change the series again.

7fags are the absolute worst since that game has neither the horror of the pre 4 games or the action from post 4 games. Its a shitty streambait game with high production values.
The most brainlet of REfans are 7fags, believe that.

>setting aside the fact that RE7 still sold much worse than the action games

As did literally every other Capcom game in existence not called Monster Hunter World.

Based and true

RE7 cashed in on the PT hype Konami was too fucking retarded to bank on.

RE7 was in development before PT was announced.

3 allowed for city exploration and is vastly superior to 4

Yes. So making a horror game at that time would have been pretty stupid.

RE7 wouldn't have sold as much as it did if it was released in the linear corridor shooter action era. And RE4-6 wouldn't have sold nearly as much if they were released in the nu-horror era of open world shit.

Indeed.

3's city part is one of my favorite part of the entire series, however everything after it is pretty damn uninteresting. That and it suffers a bit from pacing issues, compared to the other games at least.

>And RE4-6 wouldn't have sold nearly as much if they were released in the nu-horror era of open world shit.

5/6 did as well as they did because they were AAA co-op shooters, not horror games. Different market altogether.

I just beat RE7 a few weeks ago and have so many mixed feelings about it. It's a solid 8/10 IMO but the boss fights were pretty meh. I am glad it happened though, since we would of never gotten RE2 remake if it didn't sell well. (or at least learned from the mistakes of RE7)

That beings said, the free DLC Not a Hero was horrible and boring, Blue Umbrella is also a dumb idea. I did like the concept of the Connections though

Attached: tumblr_pk1w3azAEZ1qfjltjo1_1280.jpg (1035x1600, 858K)

That's exactly my point. The market for AAA horror games during that time was close to zero. The market for co-op corridor shooters was at it's zenith.

If Capcom continued releasing RE:0 type games during that era instead of adapting and rolling with the action success of 4, the series would probably be buried right now along with Mega-Man, Breath of Fire, and Dino Crisis rather than still being their biggest franchise.
