It misses most dana content, postgame dungeon, one raid mode and some ng+ options

Never played this series before, if I were to play just a single entry which would you guys recommend? Are these standalone?

Ys 1 and 2 and if you can't handle the bumper cars you dont deserve to play the rest of the series.

2 is a direct sequel to 1 (but they're bundled together nowadays anyway) and Origin is a prequel to them, but that's it, the rest are standalone.

I started with Ys 8 and had a good time. Adol is the protagonist in each game, but They're all pretty standalone. Each game is just a new adventure or episode.

do you mean iX? Games seems to have more verticality than VIII so there's a good chance it will have a bit more focus on platforming segments, though VIII had its fair share of that especially in the deep forest area with all the spiders

PC is hit and miss, either it works with no problems or it doesn't, switch is fps locked but otherwise fine, and vita is missing all the goodies

I played the Vita version and really liked it. Had very little problems with slowdowns or things like that. Vita version has less content though, but the content that is missing is not really a big deal. If you want it for Vita, go for it. Its a great game to play on the go.
