I've only got two hours clocked, don't know why the reviews are so negative. Story is bad so far, but the gunplay is incredible. It's "open world" Doom, and it's super fun. Why do people hate it? Just because they want more of it?
Rage 2 is fine?
People who don't like video games want more emphasis on story.
>I've only got two hours clocked
That's the problem. 5-6 hours later you'll get immensely bored.
In 5-6 hours he'll have unlocked the fun guns, like the shotgun, grav-dart, and firestorm revolver.
Just got the shotgun and it's hella fun
Right, it's easily one of the best in the genre.
What? When did this game come out? Didnt know
the gunplay is fine but everything else is so fucking uninspired and boring that it's not enjoyable
>giving you a tutorial on how to fire a shotgun an hour into the game after you've already killed two dozen enemies
??????????
It's for consistency. All Ark weapons and powers have a tutorial, both in gameplay and lore, no sense in leaving it out for specific weapons.
The problem is that the combat is fine, but the open world aspects feel tacked on and extremely shallow. A lot of stuff also doesn't respawn so if there was a particular area you liked or enjoy fighting those large crushers, then you essentially got to start all over again and unlock everything. It really could benefit from a NG+ or even just letting locations respawn. Plus some more variety of events on the map couldn't hurt, given there might only be like 6 of them.
why have the tutorials in the first place? a pop-up HUD screen would be fine
>but the gunplay is incredible
imagine having no standards whatsoever
gunplay is mediocre at best
If the tutorials lasted more than a minute then I'd say it's annoying, but they're incredibly short so who really cares?
>everything else is so fucking uninspired and boring that it's not enjoyable
Just like all other Avalanche games.
You think it's fine b/c you've only played two hours. The real shame is that you've already experienced everything. If you don't mind all the little stops and niggles and weird behaviors than you'll never grow to hate it.
fucking piece of shit will probably never run in my rig idk why and I'm not upgrading only for this shit
the gunplay is fine but you have so much time wasting open world garbage that even if you enjoy the gunplay it's constantly bogging you down with other boring shit, it won't even be fun to replay because of that
just get the shotgun and dash abilities and dump all your feltrite into them so you can double dash and clear entire rooms with a shotgun overdrive
the game is a fucking mess outside of that. it's fucking telling that the game only shines at the linear corridor setpiece missions
>Rage 2 is fine?
Most spot-on assessment of Rage 2 I'd say
It's okay. Dunno why it's open world, though. I basically speed across the world as fast as I can to find the next shooting gallery because the rest of the game is so shit
ever review I've seen so far says it starts out okay but then gets real fucking boring down the line
It doesn't start out okay either lmao, the intro is the most boring fucking intro to a videogame i've ever played.
The world-building really sucks. The sections where you're not fighting are as boring as sleeping on an elephant. And it's NEON PINK for no reason at all. The thematic direction is kind of like a half-assed Borderlands. Either go overboard like Blood Dragon or just make it look like a wasteland. They try to make look like clown porn but don't really dial it up enough.
I mean its a 60$ PC game. i want to know if it is worth it my money or no. the Metacritic reviews are very confusing and I dont know if I should or not. But it has been like this for a while because i dont know wither to listen to the game development company or the fans.
>gunplay is incredible
How do you feel being superman taking out thugs?
Combat: good
Exploring: average
Story/world: weak
Visuals/uniqueness: weak
I'd pay 30 bux at most.
Just wait a few months and it'll be 50% off. Just like all other failed Bethesda games.
It's not "open world" Doom, it's "open world" Bulletstorm. People calling it "open world" Doom don't understand gunplay mechanics.
73 on metacritic btw
It gets a little more tolerable when you get the Icarus so you don't have to drive everywhere and instead you can fly. Still I uninstalled it after about 10 hours. I got all the weapons and then had enough. Good thing I didn't buy it.
20 hours in I realize that 90% of my time is spent either driving or listening to npcs. Combat only makes up a small portion and even then it's piss easy because there's like 5 enemy types and they're all retarded, even on nightmare difficulty. Shame because the movement and shooting feels amazing.
it's worth 20 at most, it feels unfinished, unpolished, uninspired and the fun sections are few and far between. there's just too much driving and too much dialogue, such a massive waste of resources.
the enemies are so fucking braindead retarded it just isn't fun to even shoot them, even on nightmare they stand around like retards
Honestly the best part about the game at all is the mommyfu car that you have.
I'm always happy when she calls you champ.
I liked the NBA Jam voice for a bit then it got annoying.
exactly what this user said, I rented it and had a blast for 3 hours but after that it completely lost its charm and becomes a game of boring driving to check boxes off a list.
I love it so far. I’m a Fallout/turn based type of guy but I played the first one so I had to buy this one and I’m really enjoying it. I’m not the best at shooters because I need to think about it and require some sort of way to slow down time but the gunplay in this game is really fun. It’s the first game I’ve ever played where I prefer the rifle over the shotgun and it’s just really fun going into a place and trying to kill everything as fast as possible.
