I actually have this mugen but haven't tried it out. Only grabbed the One Piece characters and some Dragonball ones I was missing and put them into my main mugen I'm glueing toghether. I'll have to try it later

More seriously: Just use the watch mode. The porn is better when it is unpredictable. If a character needs a specific input for something, just ctrl + 1 or 2 them to make them do that then ctrl them again to renable AI.

Maybe ten years ago or so I spent more than a little time fucking around on it trying to make it like a Smash of 2D fighters that I could play locally with friends, which we did and had a blast.

MUGEN would be a lot of fun if MUGEN creators weren't such assholes who create characters only for their own projects and don't share them except with a handful of people just to rub it in everyone else's faces.

The problem with mugen is that nobody takes it seriously. There is too many joke characters/unbalanced characters. The purpose of mugen is to build your dream fighting game.

Yeah, that's actually not hard to do, in like one or two days you can get almost any roster you can think of and put them all together. Problem is, when you do that, you quickly notice that attack power, HP, various types of skills etc don't always translate over game to game and some things are stupidly OP or really underpowered.

Hell, chars from a roster from the exact same game may not play identically depending on who made them, sometimes the translation isn't 100% accurate and sometimes they embellish/"improve" things because they're stupid fanboys of chars not interested in making them flat and accurate depictions.

So while the initial idea of "what if I had the third strike cast vs darkstalkers vs KoF vs MvC" and so on isn't technically hard to throw together, getting it all to work out and play as you imagined it, is a pain in the ass. Then after all that time fucking with it and quickly learning how to yourself edit characters' HP and attack/blocking stats to try to unfuck things, you come across some shit like Omega Tiger Woods or that Japanese Ronald McDonald and just can't help but keep them in there too, and so on.

What is the best place to get chars? It has been a while since I last downloaded chars and forgot where to get them

If you're doing arcade mode and run into that, let's just say it breaks up the monotony. Also half the fun of Mugen is if you know anybody IRL who is versed in the roster you have and could play you at it, because obviously it doesn't work online etc. And there, the joke chars shine the brightest really.

I'm super lazy at adding characters into mugen, especially all at once. Is there any character packs that lets me, say, get all of the MVC2 characters and place them in my mugen all at once? I'm using Mugen Fighting Jam so I have like 1000 character slots.

Which, as I've been trying to communicate, doesn't matter in Mugen because literally all the stats, chars etc are completely arbitrarily balanced. You can also turn off all the joke characters in 10 seconds if you wanted, the roster is literally just a list of names in a Notepad. None of this shit is professional and trying to take it seriously is only a mark of majorly misunderstanding the concept vs what is actually available, and how the mishmash actually plays out in reality.

These things are not just copypasted straight out of the games, they have to be basically remade by hand, and there it really depends on the skill of the maker on what you'll get. Japanese makers tend to be (unsurprisingly) far, far more anal retentive about striving to 100% port the char straight from the game and nothing else. If a char you wanted is only available on one site and it's some fucked up "improved", badly functioning and/or outright incomplete or glitchy version, well tough luck, shouldn't have expected any more out of it. There is no reward for making a perfect mugen roster besides in-person 2-player. That's it. It's not competitive, it can never be competitive, go play an actual fighter if you expect to get any kind of practice on a roster and only see Mugen as a fun/silly "what if" type thing along with some minor sandboxing in people making whatever the fuck they want and throwing it into the mix.

You don't have to use minions or annoying orange, and I sure as fuck don't. It's also quite possible half+ of those or more were made to be intentionally annoying, so that you can basically use them as punching bags in your game or give them extreme stats to be boss chars you'd love to hate etc.

You also can't stop people from making these however, and on seeing them, you must come to grips with the fact that due to the nature of what Mugen is, it's full of 12 year olds making retarded shit. That's not a recent thing, it has in fact always been like that, ever since whenever I first started messing with it (2007). It puts it all in the context of, "don't take this shit seriously." This will obligatorily always be a pirated/hacked/handmade scene just purely for fun, which means, it's also not possible to stop people from making their own joke chars.

At best you could make your own "serious" mugen site and host only very high-quality chars, which isn't a bad idea actually, but this thing's always been so piecemeal and barely-existent besides just as a thing for dicking around with, I don't think it'd get much traction.

But what the heck do they do?! Each character has their own customized sprite? Is it included in the character sprite sheet or the Rape Alien character sprite sheet?

As far as I know, there's two "standard" rape movesets "baomaru" and "feliciamaru".
Implementing this code is easy as copy paste. Just gotta replace sprites & edit stuff like timing and sound effects.

Harder part for me is finding the associated code in victims. Simply having a few sprites with the same numbering and animations isn't enough, as I found out when I tried to add fellatio compatiblity to one girl a while ago. Wasted time editing that sprite.

Short: Rapist has code, code looks for victim that is compatible, if yes, play anims & shiet, if not, fuck invisible girl or default to some unfit sprite and it looks goofy.

No idea when or why some rapists override their victims' anims and sometimes don't.

Mugen works thru what they call a 'Finite state machine' it is thru 'states' how the character acts.

Porn characters have defined States that say to the opponent 'if OPPONENT gets to X State, RAPE happens', in order to a character to be able to be raped by the porn character, the OPPONENT character needs to have the sprites AND have the X State coded in.

its all on the States naming.

if the Opponents RAPE state is the same number as other state, errors may occur.

the problem when trying to make Fangames that look professional as in, entirely fanmade new games ala Pomemon Type Wild, Terrordome and of course the big one, Vanguard Princess, sadly Mugen, while character wise allows for a lot of things, the engine interface itself does not feel very versatile to make entirely original projects like its competitor, Fighting Maker 2nd allegedly allows, and even then, the latter had its limits compared to MUGEN, like being stuck to only the very basics, ARCADE & Versus.

Not liek you can make an awesome presentation with additional game modes or even Online...

and even then, despite being considered ''shallow'' FM2nd has had some great projects of passion even if they were finished, like Type Wild (cause Nintendo of course)

the two main factors, I think, are barrier of entry and balance.
Since mugen is entirely 2d it means someone with even a 2004 toaster can get into it with minimal issues if they stick to older versions that still have plenty of content made for them. Once full 3d models start being used you have to consider minimum hardware requirements and the such which could end up greatly limiting both the pool of content and quality of it
Balance may seem like a non-issue considering the bullshit already out there in mugen, but having something like a Tekken character fighting against a Bloody Roar character becomes much more one sided that something like a JoJo's character going against a Mahvel character even at their most "balanced"

Everyone in there seems to look down on anyone who downloads +18 content despite the site openly archiving those so there's not even a point to interact with most of them

Most of the games I've played the past two decades have been on handheld so I've tried to cling on to 2D for as long as I can.

yeah it sucks, back in the 90 and early 2000s we had dozens of studios delivering good sprite work left and right, but the costs for game development have become so bloated in recent years that it's really not possible anymore

Passion projects will always exist, at least. But studios with money behind them? Well, at least they generally aren't making good games so we're not missing out.
