George rr martin did a decent job with worldbuilding in GoT.

But the dude stopped writing as soon as his show picked up and starting making him millions. He backed D&D for so long in the beginning because they supposedly figured out how George was planning on ending the books. Now George is backtracking.

If his ONLY involvement in a game is the basic world and worldbuilding then i can deal with it. But dont let him write characters relevent to the plot. And please god, keep him away from the plot

I sort of like it, it sounds super generic like those old-school games back when you didn't need a very distinctive name to succeed. "Ultima", "Dragon Quest", "Rogue" etc...

I don't think the show is the main cause, even before that he released books with more and more delays between installments. Most book fans will also agree that the first 3 books are generally superior to the following two. He probably doesn't really know how to finish the story without rushing it and he lost the motivation to write such a huge plot with so many threads.

I somehow hope that the rushed and unsatisfactory ending to the show will somehow motivate him to write his ending instead of letting that garbage fire of a screenplay become the true ending to his saga.

People were speculating on personal wants, with no backing. This shit seems to have some ground because the GRRM thing is like 6 months old.
They are going to either have a bland open world that connects to actually good designed areas. Which could be like DeS's Nexus just translated into a big explorable space where World 1, 2, 3 etc are kingdoms at different edges of the map. Or they go fucking overboard and have towns, NPCs, GREETINGS TRAVELER side quests and notice boards and fucking ruin the world building they have been nailing thus far.

I think the combat, especially since its a choice of 3 characters, is going to see yet another overhaul. Now that its a flat out choice between "Archer" and "Melee", archery can't be DaS3 tier dogshit anymore. It needs full on mobility like Dogma.

Plus, if its open and you can go to any kingdom, do you introduce level scaling and gear scaling like TES/Witcher? This seems like the best game for "Souls needs an easy mode" crowd.

We've seen it in every medium humans can interact with and certainly with gaming. Even the greatest game series out there are fallible if they just keep pumping out the same game like a machine. Megaman is a fantastic example. It's the same game over and over and over. It's a great formula for a game that's been copied by hundreds of games by now, but they attempted to innovate way too late and now the IP is more a retro afterthought than anything else. Even the most recent release is to appease the most hardcore fans that just don't want it to change or people who remember the old Megaman games and are getting the itch to play again.
