also, throwing a spear into a lizard's mouth while doing a bellyslide works 90% of the time
don't help him
how do i bellyslide?
how do i kill shit?
how do i not get killed in my attempt to retrieve the spear from the lizard since they don't die in 1 hit?
what are these weird plants i have to throw spears into which causes them to bloom and refresh my food supply?
i feel like half the time the yellow thing that gives you "hints" just makes the game more confusing because it tells me to do random things that don't seem to do much and i don't know why.
HELP
the yellow thing doesn't know how to speak your unintelligible slug mewing. It's trying its best.
>how do i bellyslide?
give this a read, especially the Advanced Movement section:
rainworld.gamepedia.com
I recommend not reading anything else on the wiki, because running into something bizarre for the first time is half of the experience
>how do i kill shit?
It helps to get the jump on most enemies. Visibility, sound, and even smell to a degree are a thing in this game. You're a prey animal, so to play like one. Don't charge into situations you obviously can't win. If there's an enemy in the direction you need to go, and you can't kill it, distract it, or otherwise get around it, go get some food and come back.
>how do i not get killed in my attempt to retrieve the spear from the lizard since they don't die in 1 hit?
You'll get better at this part eventually, just stay away from their mouths and
>what are these weird plants i have to throw spears into which causes them to bloom and refresh my food supply?
Popcorn fruit, they give you nearly infinite food but only stick around for the current cycles. They refresh after a few days.
>i feel like half the time the yellow thing that gives you "hints" just makes the game more confusing because it tells me to do random things that don't seem to do much and i don't know why.
It's probably trying to steer you towards food, shelter, or away from enemies. You're gonna want to follow it.
Lastly, I don't think it's a crime to look at a map if you're really stuck. Having a goal in mind is a big help in this beautiful bitch of a game. For the most part though, you wanna be moving to the right at the start of the game.
>even smell
Really, what are some examples of this
Slugpill me on this game. What's the goal of this game, how's the gameplay? Is it difficult?

I don't run head first into shit. In fact i'm at the end of the Industrial District and i haven't fought and killed a single enemy yet, i always try to somehow get around them. I don't know how to distract enemies. How do you do that?
*stay away from their mouths and wait for them to stop thrashing around, most will start to run away after a few seconds
I'm fairly certain the devs said some of the lizards can track you down from scent if you've been nearby
The goal is to escape the cycles, and otherwise survive in an extremely hostile alien world where you're at the bottom of the food chain. I can comfortably say it's the most unique game I've ever played. Watch the trailer, if that doesn't convince you then I'm not sure what will. It goes from moderately to extremely difficult depending on the region, but there's a lot you can do to mitigate that if you're smart.
Enemies react to sound pretty strongly in this game. If they haven't noticed you, you can chuck a rock or a spear to pull them to that spot. You can also toss food at them, which they'll sometimes pick up. If you feed some of the lizards enough, they'll lose aggression and start to follow you around
It's difficult, and brutal and often unfair but also magical and will give you an experience you can't get in another game. It makes you feel like an animal that is trying to survive. Like, you don't just play as the Slugcat, you become the Slugcat. World and level design are 10/10.
I kind of love and dislike the game at the same time. Getting killed by some bullshit you can't react to after 10 minutes of scouting usually causes me to take a break.
3 bucks on PS Store right now, by the way, but the game is not really suited for the big, 5 ft from your position screen since you'll barely be able to see shit you can pick up.
>What's the goal of this game
You're a slugcat that got separated from its family. Now youre all alone and need to explore this alien world
>how's the gameplay?
Its pretty good. Movement takes a while to get used to but its satisfying when you get the hang of it. The world is beautiful and all the creatures have unique behaviors when interacting with each other.
>Is it difficult?
I wouldnt say its very difficult per se. The difficulty will come mostly from getting used to the game and learning the ins and outs of it. Once you get good enough you can dab on every lizard you find
To be honest my biggest problem with the game is the rain. The game doesn't let you experiment and figure shit out at your own pace. Often times when you come across a new weird alien plant or other lifeform on your journey you kind of HAVE to fuck around with it abit to figure out what it does, but UH OH, what's that, a torrential fucking rain is about to kill your ass within the next 5 minutes so move your ass Slugcat!
It's not like there isn't already enough shit that can kill you before the rain does.
Make custom regions.
woah, nice
Thanks for the info lads. I think I'm going to get the game in a coming sale (PC).
I got it for $5 on G2a like 2 days ago
what do the hibernation levels even do? I'm an hour in and I can't tell what the point of gaining or losing them is
they open or close passageway to new areas
the doors
you'll know once you explore far enough.
they're like key card levels for security clearance.
good luck, chances are you'll hate it
*ahem*
FUCK SCAVS
AND FUCK OVERSEERS
saw some guy played 240 hours of this, is there that much content? is it like binding of isaac or something?
>it's a white lizard grabs you from off screen episode
It's very big and once you progress past certain points during your playthrough you probably won't be arsed to backtrack to check out the rest, which means that you'll likely do it on a different playthrough.
Also, there's just a lot of weird little shit you can do and the game gives you something unique which might cause people to replay it. It doesn't have any kind of random upgrade elements or RPG elements that make it replayable.
No he's just autistic, this game should take you less than 20 hours at an average pace
just pirate the GOG version, the game has had no updates in 2 years anyway, no advantages in owning a legit version
your mileage may vary with this game
I beat my first run in 16 hours and then did another longer playthrough exploring every nook and cranny and getting all the optional lore items
I even spent 5 hours just filling up a Shelter with food and training an army of lizards
Rain World and autism are a good mix
sounds nice to be honest
>it's a dead trap is put right off screen episode
Those fucking kelps in the shaded citadel are just straight out bullshit.
>bought this on ps4
>apparently it's like 10x easier to control with keyboard
rip
Can i do something with the small mosquitoes i know they don't attack you but you can grab them
nigger
The babies are edible but you'll piss off the parent and it won't stop chasing you until you either die or rest.
try eating one
>or rest.
that thing followed me to it's grave
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!
Don't call it a grave, it's the future you chose.
Filthy Slugcats
Slugcat is such a stud
say that to my face, bitch
I thought they were attacking each others, my fucking bad.
