XCOM suffers from the worst reverse difficulty curve I can think of in video games. The early game is hard and incredibly punishing, but if you get out of it without losing too much the rest of the game is laughably easy.

Would be fun to recruit the aliens from the previous games due to XCOM and co being so desperate they'd parole certain individuals to make up for the shit they did during and after the invasion. Would be fun to have a Viper or Thin Man with a sniper rifle or a Muton Heavy that can drop his gun and go berserker mode if shit hits the fan.

For me the direction isn't so bad. Is actually nice. It's some of the mechanics I don't like due to streamlining. A pity squads are at max 6 (at least 2 can be modded to have more soldiers and more enemies) and you can't build more bases in the first game.

Also they could add a squad manager that allows you to attach soldiers to squads and then select said squads when you start a mission. No prepping your squad and arranging this and that. You go, select the desired squad and launch out.

It makes some sense that XCOM 2 didn't have multiple bases since your base is also a ship and can thus move around. But yea, the next game really ought to have multiple bases that spring up as you either make contact or get support from the countries. And since the Elder's shit is lying all around, teleporters could be used to excuse transfers between the bases, both for the player/commander and their soldiers.

Things like EvacAll and Improved camera are great. The former means you don't have to hit the Evac button (which can vary on certain characters) and cycle through each unit, just get them all on the point and then one click. The latter is nice if you aren't fond of the slight angle the camera usually has. Though recently I can't seem to get the mod to work even though I made sure it was the version used for Wotc.

Nah, Bradford assumes her body is where the King is first encountered, but then he checks and finds that it isn't hers. Afterwards, when you've killed all three rulers, Bradford says something along the lines of "She's still out there, doing who knows what" while being somewhat grateful for the study/tech boosts you get from each rulers corpse.

I didn't mind them too much. Only real issue was how the enemy pods would stall if you were trying to stealth, and either had to have one guy go in a width berth just to slip by, or screw stealth and practically blitz the enemy while having one guy run on ahead if you were concerned about the timer. And sure, there are mods to help make the pods not magically stop like the know you're about to come out, but that's shit that shouldn't have to be modded away in the first place.

It certainly sounded interesting, though in some ways the Prey reboot kind of fulfills the same idea (formless aliens that adapt to their environment to overwhelm the player. And while the Bureau on paper had some cool ideas, it just felt so lacking compared to similar games in the third-person strategy vein.

Mordheim has some of the best turn based combat but is stuck in a game that has massive limitations in every other regard so if you want to try it brace for alot of shite, get it cheap. I want someone to rip off that combat and run with it, its sad that such a system is stuck in such a game.

One thing to focus on when starting, and that is staying alive to level up, try to get characters to have high dodge and parry until they get it to about 50% every time they do it then start branching your builds. Youll see what I mean if you play it

Wouldn't really say Vahlen's insane, at least not to the point that she's unaware of her actions. Bandai has the rights? Wonder what they could even do. The sequel ideas from what I heard didn't seem all that interesting and could have easily have been used with a whole new cast. Though I guess it could have been cool if they had tried some kind of MMO where you could travel through space, and be things like humans, cyborgs, Ctarl Ctarl, or maybe some of the other aliens seen in the series.

If you can find the right balance of mods, it can get really good. Of course, you have to be careful not to overdo the QOL ones as those might make the game too easy (barring you aren't doing an impossible Ironman), but the ones with new enemies and more armor options are pretty nice.
