Return to the SOUL of the Gen II remakes and Gen V
As long as Game Freak continues to phone it in, casualize the series, and exclude postgame it's not going to get better
The turn based gameplay isn't the problem with nu pokemon
Have Monolith design the game, while GameFreak designs the characters & Pokemon
>Soul
fuck off with this retarded zoomer meme
remove stupid shit gimmick yokai moves and digivolutions, and rebalance the existing metric fucktons of shitmons instead of creating 100 more.
Fun fact: Ghetsis's team completely counters N's team. This implies Ghetsis has a backup plan in case N would ever battle him.
It's the things like these that make Pokemon feel like an actual world worth exploring
fire game freak and give the franchise to atlus or falcom instead.
Ass is seriously the worst pokemon trainer.
Take the world design from Ni No kuni
Pokemon can't survive without new Pokemon. They're the lifeblood of the series.
Z-Moves and Megas also can't be removed. Pokemon isn't a series where stuff can be removed once it's introduced.
Here's another question: how can we fix the Pokemon anime without replacing Ash?
Literally just give it to any other studio that does good JRPGs, like Monolith or something.
>Pokemon isn't a series where stuff can be removed once it's introduced
did you stop playing at crystal?
>Pokemon isn't a series where stuff can be removed once it's introduced.
bring in a new protagonist, have professor oak retire and have an adult version of ash replace him as the new professor.
if that were true they wouldn't still be shoveling gen 1 monsters with new lipstick every gen, and reducing the contemporary gen's memorable roster ro a dozen shillmons and box legendaries.
Also, unpopular opinion among younger fans, but the series took a hard nosedive circa gen 4 barring a few excellent exceptions peppered throughout.
Maybe it's just my age showing.
Megas and Z-Moves are used in Smash Bros. as characters' Final Smashes, and are used prominently in the anime.
They're immortalized.
easy, have Gyms enforce rules, certain bans, and level restrictions like competitive play does while outside of gyms is traditional
>but the series took a hard nosedive circa gen 4
That's when Pokemon actually got good.
What's the best selling part of the Pokemon series? The merchandise. The Pokemon themselves have always been Pokemon's ace in the hole, the thing people buy the games for.
More Pokemon = more toys and cards to sell.
Give him longer hair, reuinite the original trio, have him win the Pokemon league & make Ash/Misty canon
feelsbadman
Get the Gamefreak developers to play Persona 5.
They'll realize that turn based gameplay can look dynamic without 10 second long move animations while animating a ton of 3D models.
Rotom is also an unlikeable, inferior version of navigators like Futaba, Rise, and even Fuuka. Get a female gardevoir that follows you around everywhere and talks to you while randomly healing your Pokemon. FIXED.
I'd like to know how much pokemon they have alreay designed but just sit on them to always have new shit to introduce.
Remove the shit turnbased gameplay and make it like Pokemon Generations/Pokken.
Add EVERY pokemon into one game, or just stop making two versions of the same damn game.
Stop designing the games like they are for literal brain dead children.
rhyperior should have been a Mega, fucked up my favorite Rock boy
That's mostly a matter of making your own options (available Pokemon and their learnsets) interesting and the opponents' strategies varied and threatening.
it just felt too slow for me. Gen 4 runs at a snail's pace, even HGSS
Real time turn based strategy is based if done well
Same gameplay, but you can't take forever to make a move. Maybe speed stat influences how fast a Pokemon gets to go
New Threat FF7 is a good example of this
>it just felt too slow for me.
Autism my man, the only slowness is Platinum's long saving time.
>Stop designing the games like they are for literal brain dead children.
They are, children make up the majority of Pokemon's fanbase.
Have an adult version of the show, with actual death and depression. REAL feelings. The kid stuff is gone, so the show must cater to mature audiences.
Maybe Ash actually loses a pokemon, the pokemon dies. Ash can't deal with the loss, it breaks his world, so he trains his pokemon to kill. The powers become too much for any pokecenter to cure, so anyone who gets struck by Ash's pokemon attacks, will die or be permanently injured. He loses his companions, who keep on getting on his way, trying to calm him down and bring back the old Ash. Hopeless, Ash is already in the darkness. He strikes one of his companions with the lightning attack from Pikachu, mutilating their face.
this is the most entry-level JRPG player level of posting I have seen on this board for the entire year. Holy shit just 100% congratulations
I want to insult you but I just simply can't, you seriously just managed an achievement here. The only thing you are missing is the obligatory "I only played Final Fantasy turn-based is BAAAAD"
I want to give you some come of award or shake your hand in person
i don't want pokemon to be easier than it already is.
What is your problem with the gameplay exactly?
I think they could up the difficulty a bit. Either limit the player to the same number of pokemon as your opponent somehow, or just give every trainer teams of 6 after the first town or two.
There's only one case of a Pokemon being held back for another generation, the rest are created from scratch every gen
Can you elaborate on this? I don't see the correlation.
Let him be a competent trainer consistently
The big problem is that pokemon is a series where most people into it only cares about the monsters and the "tamagotchi" aspect of it and not the actual battle gameplay, sometimes not even into rpgs to begin with. That's why they not only have few references and as result are usually ignorant as fuck of the genre but also think that the combat in pokemon is the same for every other game from the same genre.
Like I said, the problem with pokemon is not the combat, you have played this shit for years and the biggest changes were all outside it.
Gen 4 runs at 30fps
3 is 60 baby
>focus on giving evolutions to shitmons ala 4 gen
>give an easy/normal/hard mode right off the bat so that everyone can have as much of a challenge as they want without upsetting pussy zoomer babbys
>Make the rival an asshole that pushes you again rather than be a cheerleader
>option to skip tutorials
>make the guy protag not look like a faggot/look as good as the girl one
>make sure there is a good amount of shit to do for aftergame content
>stop taking away features only to reintroduce them 2 gens later as being """new"""
>fix Ice type
>Maybe make trick room effect priority moves (aside from phasing like whirlwind/roar) as well so that you can someone diminish the necessity of speed on everything
There, that fixes 75% of the problems. I'd tackle the more nuanced shit after all of that is implemented.
This is already the case
Literally just make the messaging and useless attack animations faster
>without replacing Ash
You don't, unless shoving him in a secondary Brock-esque role and focusing a new guy with him supporting doesn't count as replacement
Yikes. I'm guessing your favorite JRPG series is the main SMT
Stop designing it for retarded* children
Shit was harder in the older games and we still got by without the internet holding our hands. Stop assuming that children of today cant do it as well.
>Select a move
>.......
>Pikachu used Thunderbolt
>Wait for animation to finish
>Wait for health bar to go down
>........
>It's not very effective...
>Sandshrew used Sand Attack
>Wait for animation
>Sandshrew's Sand Attack lowered Pikachu's accuracy!
>Repeat 18 gorillion times
The issue with Pokemon is that it still plays like a game from 1996/8 in 2019. The combat has even gotten slower since introducing 3D sprites. Speed things up and it would feel a lot better to play.
>Shit was harder in the older games
No it wasn't
Gamefreak can't decided whether Pokemon battles are something to be enjoyed or a chore to pass time.
XY and SM have tons of trainer with 1-2 Pokemon with retarded AI whose only purpose is to pad the game out with loading times.
Reduce the number of trainers and make them less of a cakewalk so battles actually feel fun
>turn off the animations
>literally solves this problem instantly
I dont understand why people complain about this
>How can we make Pokemon games good
Easy.
>while keeping the turn-based gameplay?
Impossible.
Replay original Gold and Silver and then try to tell me it isnt significantly harder than fucking SM and XY, especially in the beginning
Ash was competent in DP and XY.
DP Ash was fine, but XY Ash is emotionless and soulless
make them more like Colosseum and Gale of Darkness
Just don’t add megastones or z rocks to the next generation, it’s that simple.
Yikes
Most fun I've had is playing a rom at 3x speed in battles
Have you never played the Persona series? Or played chess?
Good turn based gameplay exists.
Remember when they took away Day/Night cycle, seasons, O powers, etc then reintroduced them a couple gens later as something new?
God I wish I was Serena
>Replay original Gold and Silver
>the games with level curve
There's more difficulty in making a good team considering most Johtomons are ass.
>Gen 4 runs at 30fps
>3 is 60 baby
I'd trade 60fps for the physical split any day.
I played P3 and P5 from start to finish. The battles were my least favorite aspect. And yes I enjoy a good game of chess.
Monolith makes xenoblade, which has the most ass combat known to mankind
No thanks
Ash is literally shit tier shota
Ash fucking sucks loses to trainers who haven't trained a 10th as long as him and then loses to hackers who have 6 mewtwos
Don't let masuda work on it.
He's competent as fuck in SM though, he went like 60 or 70 episodes without losing a single battle.
It's not that simple.
They're a battle mechanic, they're expected to be in. Removing them would be the same as removing abilities or the Physical/Special split. They're an integral part of the gameplay now.
How is it a spin-off used to promote mega-evolutions end up being better than all of the anime?
Stop making everything take so fucking long. Ability names, status effects, and weather should be shown via graphics and icons like every other game instead of having their own dialog boxes. If I'm gonna be limited to four attacks anyway, why should I have to navigate a menu to select them? Just assign each of the moves to a face button. I should be in and out of random encounters in under a minute. I don't think anyone would disagree that these would enhance the experience.
But something I'd like to see changed that'd probably be more controversial is the removal of items for Mega Evolution and Z Moves and the implementation of a super meter instead, like Limit Breaks from Final Fantasy VII. When the meter fills up, you can use either a Z Move or Mega Evolve if the Pokemon is capable of it, and you don't need special items equipped to do it. Maybe your bar could fill more if you hit an enemy's weakness or successfully resist an attack, and lose a bit if your own weakness is hit or you make an ineffective attack. Every opponent should have the same meter and rules as well, not just your rival and the champion.
Why was XY/XYZ so fucking kino?
>hackers who have 6 mewtwos
did this actually happen?
It really, really wasn't.
>entire episode devoted to the lavender town subplot
>that embarrassment of a "battle" against Giovanni
>towns literally have 4 buildings
Also
youtu.be
It was like an internet webcomic parody
Enjoy being cucked like literally all the pokegirls before and after you. Pretty sure Ash just wants to fuck Pikachu at this point
What would make you think that poster has watched the show at all and isn't just parrotting nonsense he heard?
I love Serena!
HERE'S A REMINDER WHY Pokemon went downhill the past few generations
No, he's just a zoomer who hasn't actually been around when Ash lost to Tobias (guy who had a Darkrai and then revealed he had a Latios right after Darkrai fainted) in the semifinal.
>think they are getting greedy with shoving more content to already low content game
Chrono Trigger active combat style of turn based. Give people the option to turn it off if they want
You can tell whoever wrote this has no idea what they're talking about.
People who were following the anime at the time knew Ash was bound to lose because there were only like 2-3 episodes left in the D/P season. Their titles were revealed and obviously had nothing to do with the league anymore. People just wanted to see how Ash would beat Darkrai, no one expected Tobias to follow with another legendary just casually.
>Still hasn't been updated to show Kabutops or Snorlax's megakick in LGPE
Why do people insist on comparing apples to oranges when it is possible to compare apples to apples and objectively show that LGPE is lazy garbage without room for nitpicking?
You can't, kill ash and put red in his place. Real red.
remove random encounters.
make it more open world and have exploration as the focus.
>give an easy/normal/hard mode right off the bat so that everyone can have as much of a challenge as they want without upsetting pussy zoomer babbys
this so much holy fuck PLEASE, pokemon is one of the very few games where I actually enjoy the adventure over the multiplayer. Trading and all that is fun and battling every now and then, but in the end every online battle is just "pokeman with higher speed wins" because it's all about one hitting the opponent before he does. I'd like some depth into the game to make support moves actually viable instead of being replaced by literally anything else that can do even a little damage
>but XY Ash is emotionless and soulless
Why do people keep saying this?
>NO MEME FACES BAD, MEME FACES PERSONALITY
XY Ash had the most character of any Ash and was the emotional anchor for the group.
>battles in the anime
>I must take into account positioning, the implications of type effectiveness, every effect a move will have, the arena, as well as my opponents strategy
>battles in origins
>THROW POKEMON AT OTHER POKEMON
>OH NO THEY WERE ALL ONE SHOT CHARIZARD SAVE ME
Origins was a great send up of Red and blue, but it can't touch even the worst season of the anime.
You shut your whore mouth. It brought red/blue to life, and it had some great battles too. The Giovanni fight was kino, as the spirit of battle nearly brought a year to his eye, as it did to me. And don't even get me started on the final battle vs. Mewtwo
Make the world lively. Fill it with more interesting NPCs than "Walking sign". Really detail the towns and routes.
The biggest way to lose my interest in pokemon is to just tank the exploration factor.
That's the real joke, We knew Ash would be losing the league, but many people thought he'd get a dignified end, like he whittles tobias down to his last pokemon before losing because tobias exclusively relied on darkrai. So just fucking imagine when the darkrai finally goes down and then the fucker is like
>Go, my back up latios
Like who the fuck even is this guy? The physical embodiement of TPCi keeping Ash from his goal?
Look, I just want the game to be harder and to not hold my hand, for Christ's sake. Give me my fucking starter and kick me out of my mom's house, and then leave me alone for most of the game so I can have a fucking adventure by myself like I did with the first few generations.
Have actual post game that isn't another boring Looker quest or some hour long episode that will be completely forgotten.
More proof that Gen 5 was kino as fuck.
This faggot probably hasn't caught them all.
What if they took a note from the MegaMan Battle Network Series and had a battlefield you could movie in with selected attacks you could preform.?
no because I use PKHex
>just buy the same game 3 times and go to american chain stores to catch em xD
Pokemon sucks now.
>remove leveling individual monsters, instead have the monster power level be dependent on the MC's level
>remove the 4 skill limit
Because there's a difference between boring animations and no animations
We can't. Mainly because the battle system is tied to how mons work, and those have to stay transferable from one gen to the other, as it's in the game's DNA. That's why we need spinoffs to explore new things and gameplay, and why Pokemon spinoffs were actually the better games these last few years.
and because most spin offs were not made by gamefreak
