TESO is pretty good now if you play it as a single player RPG. You can go through all the single player content without a sub or paying for anything
None of the current MMOs are worth the timesink. Play ESO if you want a singleplayer questing experience with multiplayer dungeons. Play FFXIV if you're a weeb and into waifu bait. There's really no reason to play WoW anymore.
There really isn't anything new coming out on the horizon that looks all that promising either; so you're basically fucked, bud.
Try it out. It’s nice in the sense you never feel like if you aren’t paying your falling behind thanks to the way the game is structured. Classes are pretty well done and the story is definitely better than most mmos of today. If you get elswyr you will get all three expansions but I would only do that after seeing how you feel on the game.
This, Modern MMOs are shit.
Dofus my friend
Instead of playing an MMO, learn an instrument, start working out or get a part time job. You will be infinitely better off for it.
>So how is TESO?
FFXIV is your go to MMO on 2019

So other players are not in the overworld then?
How are the dungeons though? Is everyone a specific class or is it like regular ES where you can be a Buff swordsman who throws fireballs/lightning and practices stealth archery like every Skyrim character.
TESO is probably the best rollercoaster style MMO on the market. Would've played a lot more if not for the fact that it's basically a SP game with people running around. If only it was harder and more challenging.
TESO is pretty good right now man. Make sure to get ESO+ to unlock all DLCs and swags.
No they are. Gonna have to deal with asshole bots running to all the mining nodes.
Dungeons are your typical mmo affair. The class system is very flexible in that every class can be dps, tank, or healer. You get three skill trees for your class, and then a skill tree for each weapon, faction, your race, and pvp so you can customize your character to your liking.
GW2 is comfy, good bang for the buck. Just started playing FF14 and it's boring as fuck.
Im currently playing Anarchy Online.
Its a good game, but Funcom have pretty much left it to rot and the player base consists of people who never could let go, but they are a nice bunch and most of them takes the time out of their day to help you if you ask questions and explain to them that you are new.
I have met people over the past few days playing who have helped me farm early bosses for gear, given me money, helped me out with how to build my character and in-general just answered my questions regarding the game.
Most guides you'll find are from 2004-2008 but they are still decent for what its worth, you'll get a single full skill point reset and a bunch of single skill resets, so if you fucked up bad during your new hours you can correct those towards the center and end of leveling pretty easy.
There is a lot of free content, also called froob content, so you can give it a shot without spending money, which is neat. I got about 35 hours played and Im still clueless how everything works, which is something I have missed in recent MMOs.
FFXIV is rising up and Shadowbringers looks like the best MMO expansion yet.
1) They are, but they really don't matter.
2)Typical newage mmo stuff. There are classes, but every class can do everything. There's some min-maxing with racial and class bonuses, but ultimately there's no real sense of class difference.
AIR seems surprisingly decent, it's not the next WoW/FFXIV/GW2/ESO, but it might be the next Tera or something similar (infinetely better than the garbage that was Bless global). Like good enough to keep you afloat until the next wave of mmos (which sadly are all crowdfunded projects that might end up like absolute shit, but well mmos are always semi bad anyways).
A lot of people were skeptical because of UE3 (including me), but the thai version or something came out and people have been playing it fine even while using VPN, so the english release might be just as good. The flying and vehicle combat while gimmicky is decent enough for a change of pace and has it's own progression which is fun to customize.
>recommending GW2
AHAHAHAHA LOOK AT THIS KEK
Maybe if the game wasn't about killing 2 raid bosses per week and then logout till next week just to keep you subbed, oh and cosmetics being held behind fucking events so you can't even be a casual fashion whore if you weren't playing specifically when the outfits you wanted were given via limited events.
i play games to have fun, not have a 2nd job
Too bad GW2 isnt fun.
keep in mind that TESO is extremely jewish in spite of what the shills will say
literally every single piece of content is locked behind a hefty cash shop price
if you like PvE try XIV
if you like pvp try WoW
if you like space and shit try EvE
if you like RvR try GW2
if you like FF tactics try Dofus
if you like good video games wait for Classic WoW in august
>Classic WoW
Top kek
Just wait for classic. ESO is shit.
Sounds like ESO is at least decent enough to give it a shot, thanks people.
Here's hoping it doesn't disappoint me to the point of making another thread shitting on it.
I tried FFXIV (not op) but fuck me its so boring
Its so unbearably boring, maybe it gets better after hitting the cap, I don't know but god fucking dammit I just can't stand leveling so far, I basically falling asleep while doing it.
fun combat, fun exploration, fun pvp & wvw, fun dungeons, fun world events, no bullshit returning to quest givers, no bullshit trinity. its good bro.
>every single piece of content
The bug expansions provide enough content, and even if you were inclined to try the small shit they put out, the majority of it can still be done with a month’s sub.
how's the population tho they fired a shitload of employees
Its not.
There is fuck all to do at lv80 unless you decide to do a legendary weapon.
Its absolutely boring and shit.
It still revolves around grinding out the same world boss.
Classic WoW is partially why I made the thread in the first place, buncha friends have been siccing themselves up for it. I never really got into WoW to begin with, but I'm down to try it once it comes around. Too bad the date is months away, hence the thread
just buy one of those quests boosters that allow you to ignore the entire story! I think it's only like $49.99 or something!
Its in closed beta though isn't it? I signed up a while ago and still didnt get anything
Why do you bother playing mmos in the first place? Sounds like you want to play Division 2 or something like it.
I enjoyed ESO. I was able to get two characters to max level before stopping, which isn't really impressive. The game is fun to run around in though the quests are all basically fetch and kill quests
then you beat the game, start a new character or play something else. op was asking for recs of things he hadn't played. no shit a game is boring after you play for 800 hours and 100% all the content and get legendaries.
>800 hours
You can get the game done without legendary(which doesnt give you any increase of stats anyway) in like 40 hours.
Its boring as shit.
Expansions were nothing but shitty story there was no reason to play them. No lv boost. Nothing.
>then you beat the game
He meant once you hit level 80. You dont beat a mmorpg once you hit max level, thats just fucking retarded.
I would say just play some other genres in the meantime, you don't want to burn out on MMOs before it comes out.
gw2 has world completion %, i'd say if you get 100% on a character you basically beat the game. i didn't say hitting lvl 80 meant you beat the game dipshit.
You do on GW2 user.
Once you get to 80 on GW2. All you have is story shit and maybe a Legendary weapon if you can be bothered to do that.
There is nothing else.
>no level cap
>pet system similar to BDO
Nah bro fuck off.
Can't believe I'm still gonna try it when it comes to the west
So its a world exploration chat room?
Nice to know that gw2 is pretty much just 3D discord.
Which is sad, GW1 was such a good game.
gw1 is a better game, won't argue with you there.
>check gw1 on twitch
>this appears twitch.tv
WOW! Actual girls love gw1 huh?
>if you get 100% on a character you basically beat the game
confirmed for not acutally playing the game
>Qt on stream
>Looks like a tranny on instagram
>bdo is free on steam for the weekend
it was fun but 600$ for gearing myself is too much
>getting everything in GW2 in 40 hours
I only played GW2 extensively before any of the expansions were released but I know you're pulling that shit out of your ass.
Also, GW2 has the best holiday events compared to any other mmo.
>gw1
didn't the cucks at arena net nuked the game before the gw2 release ? did they restart the servers ?
>You can go through all the single player content without a sub or paying for anything
wait, what
No you can't, you fucking retard. You have to either buy chapters or get them with a sub.
this but for videogames in general
He is retarded, but there is a bunch of content from just the base game, as you can do all 3 factions zones with one character.
And if you have put that much time into the game, the sub fee is well worth it to play the rest.
But I work out, got a job I like and play video games.
>want to go back to ESO
>remember you have to have a ranged hotbar setup as a melee character
Eh, I can appreciate some weeby shit but I don't think I can play an MMO that basically oozes weebery.
>tfw made a tank/dps hybrid character for exploring overworld as dps and switching to tank for dungeons with a single button
OSRS is unironically criminally underrated
>balance is shit
>race decides your entire character
>2 handed weapons are fucking useless
MMOs are a dead genre
handed weapons are fucking useless
Aren't they used for pvp instead?
That's retarded. The game is structured to whatever game mode you want and not having to grind. The items you'll get for dedication is optional. You are probably one of these grind fags, who need a carrot on a stick. Pretty pathetic.
I played the fucking shit out of RS during its prime. I'm so tempted to get back into it but at the same time I'm scared of tainting the memories
>GW2
>queue for under 50 to learn how to pvp and do daily
>fight fully geared with epic/leg gear 1v4 everyone
Why would you make gear quality matter in a queued MMR based arena?
better than that cowboy hat bitch
>he thinks people waste money to get sub 160cp equips to gold
2 handed isnt that far behind dw and it has prominent use in pvp
race matters far less than people realize. A Redguard mage that has absolutely no racial bonus to magicka in any way will deal 2k dps less than Altmer/Bretons.
>2 handed weapons are fucking useless
If you play a scout build in pvp 2h maces is a must have. Oneshotting the healer out of stealth is amazing
It's still real good, the quests are actually engaging if you don't use a guide, there's plenty of skills, it's as grindy as any other mmo except you can do it semi-afk for many things
Come home, /tg/ even made an OSRS pen&paper
What's shit is that gear quality matters that much in battlegrounds. And that it's being abused by people who want to tank multiple people. And then once you reach lvl 50 you're fighting against CP160 with the highest possible quality on top of having experience in the game. It's laughable really.
I never really found out, but at what point did OSRS 'die' and RS3 get made?
Does OSRS still have things like the grand exchange? Or is it rolled back farther then that?
It still has the grand exchange
>not have a 2nd job
Are you retarded? All the good stuff is nothing but grind.
