i used to use one of these to recharge my gameboy and xbox controller batteries not to forget, the TV remote, and one day a battery POPPED and sparked inside it. my mum ran off to turn it off but i dont remember much else. I got my own place now, and am seriously wondering if one of these is worth it or if i am just being paranoid.
i know xbox charger packs exist
and before you ask, yes i only use rechargeables in the charger, no alkalines.
should i just do a bulk buy on eneloops or battery world AA batteries? dont they corrode if you dont use them quick? or do they last at least 5 years or more?
Are AA battery chargers a house fire waiting to happen?
also, fuck HDMI
I'm playing muh quake and drinkin' boomer juice with component cables only brother
4:3 for life
now i just need a CRT but this HDTV that came with my place is too nice :(
dont buy shit ones and you'll be fine
Sounds like you accidentaly shorted it or the device did.
if your paranoid, just don't leave them charge when you're not at home or sleeping i guess.
the one that made a battery explode at my mum's house was an energizer brand, the same brand as all the batteries we had.
i don't know if its just unnecessary fear that i have or if anyone else is scared of these.
also i always make sure i buy surge protection strips that are from a consumer products shop like best buy or a computer shop, i dont trust a home brand to surge protect my consoles or pc
it was plugged directly into the wall because my mum told me never to plug it into piggybags or power strips
it was just sitting there charging the batteries and we were watching TV then BANG!
i wasnt this scared of electronics crapping out at my parents house because my parents were wealthy and had insurance that covered all home contents.
but now I'm scared for my life i dont buy chargers from china anymore for my phone i always overpay at some normie electronics shop or buy an official brand like a belkin or the manufacturers brand if possible, just because im scared of some chink charger shorting and burning down my appartment.
then again, theres 50 other people that arent that careful and could burn down my apartment overnight...
of course.
btw it's only because of this experience i had, if you had a battery explode in your house by no fault of your own, you would be suspicious of rechargeables too.
i hope you understand that.
also being poor now and non-insured adds to that fear.
If you're that paranoid use a wired controller
Don't buy shit ones from Poundland
Don't plug them in and turn on overnight or while you're out the house
Don't be a retard
that's what i do.
considering getting a charging battery pack for my xb360, you know the black thing you put in and it charges through the controller wire. USB doesn't short that easy.
from an outsiders perspective, do you genuinely think im schizo, or would an exploding double A in your house scare you away from these chargers too?
sure i can understand that. some unexpected shit happens and you'll wait to happen again.
What brands or price range would you recommend?
WE'RE ROIGHT BONKERED THIS TOIME MUM
>once fully charged, the unit stops sending juice to the batteries
Best set of rechargeable batteries I've owned as well
I've been using rechargeables my entire life and nothing like this has ever happened.
Fuck 360 battery packs. Unless they're 1st party, they drain while the controller is off and are almost dead every time I want to use it.
I buy my batteries from the dollar store and walgreens. The expensive ones go in my wii remote and the shit ones go into an old radio and multiple flashlights. No recharging ever.
It just works.
>they drain while the controller is off
Reminds me of wiimotes
it was an official energizer mate
and of course.
true man, it's probably not going to happen again in my lifetime if i think clearly about it... maybe I'll do some more research - see if one of these has ever actually burned down a house. if not I'll grow some balls and just buy one.
fuck what an awakening lol, thank you?
well the one that shat on me was an energizer, so do with that info what you will. reviews amazon reviews and amazon reviews, i say user thats what im gonna do.
'ELLO GUVANA
'AVE YOU GOT YOR BATTERY LOICENSE?
nah but mate I'm aussie hey
>look at the pic
MY DIN DIN BRUV ITS BANGIN'
where are you reading that from
oh the energizer there says overcharge protection
Perhaps earlier models of the energizers didnt have overcharge protection or it was flawed?
moght actually get a panasonic
panasonic is a fucking based jap company
never owned anything from them that shat itself.
I've always been afraid of this. This is why I use a usb powered one instead of one that plugs into a wall.
Doesn't Europe have higher voltage outlets than the US?
Is it a common thing for Europeans to have their electronics explode?
thanks for the tip user, if i can score a M$ one for cheap that would be nice.
fuck knows why they didnt make the cunts rechargeable from the get go hey
i guess sell more packs
and PS3. my ps3 controller fucking drains itself quicker when its off than when I'm actually using it lmao
honestly though, just gonna treat the batteries like fuel at this point since all rechargeables seem to have some withdrawal to them.
Compared to wiimotes, they're 100 times worse.
Europe - 220v
USA - 120v
Japan - 100v
no as long as the socket has a ground, which most do.
I have this exact product for my Xbone controllers and they're fine after 2 years of consistent use, the batteries aren't that expensive to replace either.
WAIT
HOL UP
DID YOU JUST SAY
HOLY FUCK TITS
A USB ONE?
THATS MORE MY STYLE
I'm aussie mate. but yeah same rules apply. US 110V, EU and AU 240V.
half of japan is 240V and the other half is 110V with no clear line dividing the two. imagine all the fires caused cos of it lol
i think they actually teach at school the difference between the two, and the NTSC/PAL 60/50Hz or i read they used to. maybe they got their shit sorted out but i know a lot of electronics are built for both these days. my computer works on both american and australian power, according to the specs and also having bought it from an american store.
>owning an xbox one in 2019
please dont tell me you dont use the xbox one for anything except enhanced xb360 framerates...
listen. I'm a xboxfag myself, i went sega dreamcast to xbox to xbox 360 - but M$ fucked us with the xbox one. i feel rotten my dude. you feel the same? nobody shares my pain because all my friends are sonyboys.
>are AA battery chargers a house fire waiting to happen?
Shitty ones yes(Energizer, Duracell, chink brands, etc)
"Expensive ones" no(Eneloop, Even fucking Amazonbasics ones).
Well in the end Microsoft got what they wanted to do with the xbox anyway.
It became the Netflix box. They could not sell the system as TV device. So they just canceled all their games and are going to say
>See nobody who has an xbox wants to play games on it. The Xbox brand is now a Netflix box.
Just buy disposable ones, mate.
