I think it would lessen the dependence on teams to have 1 or 2 medics at all times, but nothing will beat overheals and ubers. Sometimes people just don't want to play medic, and teams shouldn't be at a complete disadvantage if no one chooses Medic. In that same regard, I think Engineer's Dispensers should heal at a faster rate, or perhaps give overheal.

Why is this a bad idea again? Gives Soldier a slight nerf and gives Heavy a much needed increase in variety with his gameplay. Soldier can rocket jump away, which doesn't mesh with the role of an AoE buff around a team anchor like Heavy.

Maybe not every class, but Scout, Soldier, Pyro, Demo, and Heavy should be able to fill the role of "general combat" classes. This idea that Pyro and Heavy should only be able to be used defensively, while the other three get to be generalists is incredibly boring and limiting.

the best way to increase variety is to just set up a core role of a class and just make weapons that lets you do that role in a different way,
for example an engi's role is mostly defense of a certain are and support with the dispenser/teleporter. you can equip the gunslinger to get yourself a better stand on the front line, letting you use your mini sentry to give a small choke point some defense and be more viable to support your teammates with a dispenser on the front line or building a teleporter behind enemy lines.

They're still pulling from the same bank of classes except that removing restrictions basically means you run 2 medics (cuz they're op) and then you run a sniper so you actually have enough damage to kill through 2 medics.

I think more restrictions would be a better way of creating diversity, not less. Increasing the team size to 7 and implementing the highlander rule would probably make for a lot more variety and a game that better captures the spirit of casual Tf2 play.

How to improve the game? Delete Spy from the game completely. Remove all traces of his existence from the files. Lock every non-multi class Spy cosmetic to their current owner's inventories and make sure they can never be seen again. Edit all of Spy's appearances in the comic to Pyro or some random civilian. Disown Meet the Spy, Expiration Date and whatever else video with him in it and deem any other depiction of him non-canon. There, I just improved the game more than Valve could improve it in a thousand years.

1. Airblast also soaks the target with gas, meaning they're extra flammable - water and med-kits won't put out flames, will tick as mini-crits.

I only said to make weapons that let you do a role in a different way, but that doesnt stop you from making a loadout that can actually work as a different role.
One of my spy loadouts was for example the ambassador, eternal reward and dead ringer. All of them give you a new way to do your job (killing key targets from up close by a backstab) like the ambassador gives you a
viable backup weapon to finish your job, eternal reward lets you kill players much more concealed if youre skilled enough and dead ringer gives you a getaway if you mess something up.
By combining all these you can make a loadout that can work for a front line, ambassador being your most used weapon for kills, eternal reward for quickly blending in and dead ringer for damage mitigation
and yes, i know 2 out of 3 of these weapons are nerfed to the ground and are pretty unusable nowadays, but i still remember the good times

the key problem with heavy is that he is pretty much unstoppable in a 1v1, but very slow and inacurrate making him very easy to counter with a spy or a sniper.
you should treat heavy like you should treat tanks. Hes gonna go in slow and steady, destroying everything possible, but he will be very easily taken down by anything more specifically designed to kill targets like him, so you need to give him support to kill those specific killers like spies and snipers so he can push through.
