Whats so bad about IX, XI, and XIII?

XI was 13 years ago. It's an excellent game but a bit on the simple and easy side. Still my favorite Three Kingdoms game. XIII is okay but the battles are total dogshit, mostly because of the dumb controls, clearly made by someone who has never touched a RTS before. It has tons of mechanics outside of battle, especially with the PUK, but it's all so poorly explained that it ends up feeling messy.

That's the order I'd recommend them, and that's the order the game recommends them to, by listing in that order

Records of the Three Kingdoms shows Cao Cao is most responsible for bringing order, didn't abuse power or usurp it out of order when he had chances, and did what was necessary to make all that good shit happen.

Liu Bei is the hero of Romance, because of the bias of the writer.

If you look at their children, you see who the better man was. Cao Cao's children all brought honor to the name.

Romance if you want that wonderful corny feeling, I'd recommend it.

It's a tough call. The english voice acting is pretty bad, but I find Chinese in general to be a difficult language to listen to for more than a little while. Aggressively annoying, especially since everyone is always shouting in this game. Chinese certainly feels more authentic but I switched it back to English after about an hour.

The problem with Total War games being cracked is that the crack is day one version which has bugs and Total War series is probably best known for it's horrible launches, altho I haven't seen anything horrible yet in 4 hours, other than my generals dueling nobody, so once you get your crack you'll play the shit version of the game while others might get patches and then you'll have to wait another set of weeks to crack the patches.

In the noval, after getting his ass kicked by Cao Cao (again), Liu Bei finds shelter in a peasant house. Noticing he was hungry, the peasant gives Bei meat, and then the latter ask which animal is.

Any advice for someone who's bought 3K as their first ever TW game?

I love the battles, but the overworld map stuff is really complicated. Well, not complicated as such, but there's just SO MUCH OF IT

As much as this scene is great, it's taken out of context as it's actually a sad scene. This is just Cao Cao trying to convince his friend (Gongtai) that he is a good man who is still human because Cao Cao looked up to Gongtai greatly and needed his reassurance.
I'm sure it's the only part in the series where Cao Cao cries at Gongtai breaking all friendship with him.

My suggestion is play Sun Jian, he's like a brick and can win so long as you ride around murdering people due to his 'heroism' mechanic. Cao Cao and the others are more politically focused.

I was going to be one of them but then I watched some gameplay and remembered when I played a free trial of Shogun 2 and just didn't like how armies just blindly smash into each other. I realize there's strategy and positioning and shit but there never seems to be a clear way to see how one fight is going vs another and you get punished for trying to micro should a fight start going badly.

I know I'm a scrub etc, but it just puts me off.

It was Lu Su's plan to attack Guan Yu but Lu Su died and left it in Lu Meng's hands since Lu Meng was skilled in war and strategy.
Lu Meng once said that physical force is the best weapon and Sun Quan told him not to go full Lu Bu so Lu Meng actually was smart and strong.
The two guys who turned on Guan Yu were disliked by Guan Yu and passed over for promotion many times over and they had a bone to pick with him.
Not the first time that shit happened either. Zhang Fei used to beat his men and did after Guan Yu was killed and Zhang Fei's own men killed him and took his head to Wu.
Wu basically fucked Shu up so hard when they did fight it was always one sided.

This is a slightly expanded version of the same speech he gave Gontai before he originally left him, after Cao Cao murdered his uncle's house hold after a misunderstanding, then murdered said uncle to cover it up. At that time, it was meant to make Cao Cao look like a schemer and being without principles. Here, the same words are used, many years later, in a totally different context.

It lines up with the content of the speech, and Cao Cao's character. The same speech, the same man, the same actions, seen as both good and bad, but always consistent and unwilling to be compromised.

But he literally regretted his actions and said his famous quote that is misinterpreted. The novel made it say "I'd rather betray the world than let the world betray me." but in reality what he said was more close to "I'd rather do wrong and feel bad for it then let others do wrong and let them feel bad for it." basically saying he doesn't want anyone else to feel the grief he feels.

Maybe I was watching a bad video series but I watched this guy attack a fort and he sent in his foot soldiers while his archers provided covering fire and it was 3 minutes of his footmen fighting the AI's soldiers in the entry to the fort with no clear visible indicator of who was winning or what progress was being made.

Because one of his best generals, Zhao Yun, risked his life and single handedly fought through an entire enemy army in order to safely deliver LIu Bei's son back to him. Liu Bei reasoned that Zhao Yun's life was worth far more than his son's, because of how legendary Zhao Yun was as a military commander and warrior.

To be fair, can you blame him? It was a time when a general as good as Zhao Yun was could be found in maybe 1 in 1,000,000 people, whereas half of all children died in infancy anyway and you could always just have more.

It's even dumber when you notice the Zhao Yun in the books is just an OC attached to a literal foot soldier not worthy of note

In fact Romance of the Three Kingdoms literally takes shit that Zhao Yun did historically and attributes them to Zhuge Liang, such as the Empty Fort Strategy where Zhao Yun left his camp gates open and hid all his men on purpose to make the enemy think there was an ambush, then when they turned around and left he attacked them and basically wiped out their entire army.

Guan Yu never killed Hua Xiong. The brothers weren't even a part of the coalition against Dong Zhuo, Sun Jian killed Hua Xiong. This is well done, but after about 11 hours so far I still prefer warhammer 2.

Why does it seem like every unit has roughly the same stats? Even the ones that cost 2 or 3 times as much only have 2 or 3 stat points in melee evasion or some shit higher.
