The single biggest reason is the "boomer" meme.

They were good, but the problems that haunt SIGIL can be traced all the way back to them: tight areas and monster closets that derive difficulty from clusterfucks with no mobility and limited munitions while tossing in damage sponge enemies to occupy your time way too much thanks to Doom 1-only.

On paper Romero can make great maps, but SIGIL is not great.

Protip: your first playthrough should be on HMP. Try UV in a second playthrough.

No. It does have a couple of cheap moments but the rest of it is good. UV really ramps things up, though, so I wouldn't recommend it for a first run.

Brutal Doom is shit.

The levels are sheer claustrophobic. Everything is so packed in, it just overall is SHIT. You'll go up an elevator and a Cacodemon will get a free hit on you since it's so cramped and you don't know it's there, a lot of it feels really cheap. The music is good, that's about it.
