I'd love a bunch of different forms that have different stat allocations or slightly different movepools that you can just find. Like a growlithe with a different stripe pattern that's slightly faster at the cost of attack or defense or something. Make it actually feel like you're collecting real monsters.

Thing is that would at least partially fix the RNG problems of natures. When you catch a pokemon you don't know what Nature it is until you already got it. And if it's wrong then it's time to either catch another one or breed. But if you got the Growlithe with the long canines or something then you can look at it and know "oh that's Adamant, I want that one."

Now the next obvious question is "what if i don't care about natures or numbers" then good news because you can continue to not care and just get the Growlithe with the sad eyes if you like that one. Or the Growlithe with spiky hair if you prefer that one. It's such an elegant solution that's much easier since they use 3d models now and don't have to draw the variants individually.

That's basically breeding in a nutshell

GameFreak can do what stardew valley does where things are said in game, not requiring you to look up stuff. For example when you progress to a certain point you find secret notes in the cave. These tell you the villagers’ likes and dislikes, and now you have a reference and you don’t have to look it up.

I think the general fan justification is that the Arceus you catch is just an avatar of the real thing. The HGSS Arceus event has a line about Arceus showing you a bit of it's true power after making a Sinnoh Dragon egg, so it's not going all out the majority of the time.

Here’s a concept. There’s one challenge trainer at every route. Make if that what you will. A full party of 6, or a higher leveled team or it could be smarter Ai. When you defeat every trainer in a route you get the ability to see percentages of encounters in that route. Now I don’t have to google that shit, and can just focus playing the game.
