You can basically just go either pure dex or pure strength, with the occasional points into the other stat if a weapon you want to use requires it. The whole 'swamps upon swamps' bit is definitely the low point of the game, though, I think it picks up a bit after that.
The most fun I've had with faith in the game was a 27/~50(maybe 60 I don't remember) STR/FTH build, partly so I could have an effective weapon at low stats, and mostly to dab on people by using nothing but lightning spears until they get overconfident and take a poise boosted lightning stake to the face.

feature, abyssal flames are said to not produce shadow due to the conflict between light and dark, and since the Ashen One is made of flames when they gain dark sigils that makes them lose their shadow

It's a hold on from demons souls when you would die you would be in spirit form and your footsteps would be near silent.

the boss is easier than the knights, at least for me, don't forget to get the banner from the lady at the cathedral before you fight the boss, also don't be afraid of summoning, especially sunbros, so you'll help them too, in farming medals

My first playthrough of DS3 was dex based, had a blast using the +5 Farron Greatsword with its spin-to-win. Even started using the full undead legion set when I could.

Also, I forgot how fucking bleak dark souls was. You only options are to burn yourself to death and perpetuate the stagnation of the world, or turn fucking everything into oolacile kind of shit. You end up mercy killing most of the NPCs, and the ones you don't are the liars and cheats, like Petrus.

Oolacile made Manus go mad and that's why everyone was bloated. The Four Kings, by contrast, look more like angels.

Some other oddities are how the giant archer tower is broken in the vista seen from the High Wall and how there are a bunch of smaller settlements in the far distance along with multiple parts of the Undead Settlement that don't exist when you reach it.
