I had this idea about a game in which the main character travels to an alternate reality where magic is real and society is structured around magic casters. Family lines boosted to lordship if a particularly strong caster is born. Swordplay is still common, but a decent combat caster can bubble-shield themselves from attacks and shit.

The game would basically be one big gun wank because the main character would arrive with firearms and bullets pack a ton of energy that would make beating magic users possible.

Maybe someday I'll make it.

Because its a genre written by complete brainlets that want an instantly OP bland main character to self insert into with a bunch of big tiddy girls as a power/revenge fantasy. Secondly the actual isekai quickly falls to irrelevancy as the protags adapt very fast to the new world (which is just a basic dnd variant lacking any uniqueness) and never ever make an attempt to get back.

isekai is based off of lazing writing and self inserting. video games don't need writing and are self insert by default so isekai doesn't translate well

The novels actually go into how earth in Overlord is actually a futuristic cyberpunk dystopia where everyone is a wageslave where everything is owned by megacorps and has to work all the time and the planet's biosphere is wrecked etc.

It sucks they don't really mention it in the anime, it's actually a pretty cool element of the setting.
