I fell out of interest in Touhou and the fandom at some point after UFO. I remember being excited for Ten Desires and then underwhelmed by the game itself, and within like a year of that I pretty much dropped out of the Touhou fandom and stopped paying attention. Now I'm so far out of touch I can't name a single character post-DDC besides Clownpiece and Junko.

I thought it was just me but I've heard a few other anons also say they fell out of Touhou around the same time, so maybe it was something about that point in time that started driving people away. But I don't know what exactly it could've been.

As someone who's known about Touhou ever since 2010 it's fucking wacky to think that actual fan-translated games and official manga would ever be localized to the West, and we even got ZUN to appear at AWA 2013! I'm personally glad that ZUN can be in his little hugbox with a loving family and a fairly stable job of making new Touhou games even if they do all use the same engine since TD.
It is sad to think about what happened to all the cool YTPMV and MAD guys though, they either get too busy with real life or grow disinterested. And new-hu post 2015 ain't doing much favors. I think the new one should bring in a couple of new fans though, there's always someone asking "which game do I start with" or "I don't even play the games but jack it to the porn".
