What's up, Yea Forums? What are the best VR games? I sprang for an Oculus, Grabbed Blade and Sorcery, Batman, and Exorcist Legion already. What are some other great VR titles?

Pavlov
Are there any good robust RPGs? Am I going to have to give Todd money again?
Why would you play RPGs in VR? Just play in 2D.
Immersion bro.
Robo Recall is a must, the Oculus store also has a $60 bundle with the new Dance Central and Lone Echo in it, Echo VR is free but has a $10 add-on that adds the Combat portion to it, Job Simulator is good for dicking around, Hot Dogs, Horseshoes and Hand Grenades is a really cool gun simulator if you don't mind it being mostly a tech demo, there's a few others but these are off the top of my head.
There's a lot more stuff if you're willing to check the SteamVR stuff too, it's OpenVR so your Rift will work there as well.
If you like Silent Hill then get Organ Quarter
Thanks for the rec on Robo Recall. This shit looks great.
Anyone bought a quest? Mine is shipping soon.
Can't wait to sideload the Pavlov alpha, already bought orbusvr and space pirate trainer on a sale and got SUPERHOT for free as a kickstarter backer
It's pretty damn fun, I got it when I had a WMR headset and played using ReVive, tomorrow my Rift S comes in and I'm excited to see how much better it'll be with the proper equipment
>In Death
>Pavlov
>Beat Sabre
Probably the best three VR games out there right now in my opinion. For PC at least.
PSVR still has a few more worthwhile exclusives that haven't jumped ship to PC yet.
It's annoying how limited it is though. Not even resolution. It's the damn camera and how short the cable is and Sony refuses to bundle in an extension cable and third party ones never work quite right.
If you want to slash stuff with a lightsaber grab Vader Immortal, it's $10 and while the story portion is a little under an hour, it has a dojo mode you do battles in and can unlock stuff based on your performance. Also the Quest comes pre-baked with some demos so you can give those a whirl too.
It's pretty fun, though some more third party games need to come to it to confirm it's true legibility in the VR market, like Pavlov and Sairento which are already confirmed.
Still waiting for Vader to come to the S. I'm guessing they're keeping it a Quest exclusive right now as a selling point.
I use PSVR exclusively with games I can sit down in, stuff like Astro Bot, No Heroes Allowed VR and Until Dawn Rush of Blood, most of the exclusives and all the best ones can be played sitting stationairy so it's not an issue.
I'd assume as much, I messed with it because I knew someone with a Quest but only in the Dojo because I'm waiting for the Rift release.
The big title I'm hyped for though is Stormland.
A part of me wants one because I can set it up in a bigger room than my tiny square room, since I'm often hitting ceiling fans or my PC/Subwoofer and dressers with the controllers on my Mixed Reality headset.
Then again, I have a 6700k and 1080ti PC. So it's going to look shitty like my PSVR and I like that supersampled 1440p goodness.
Sadly. I can't afford a VIVE or better. £300 would be like my budget for an upgrade.
The Quest's bigger room potential is cool but I imagine very few games will actually utilize it, I know Journey of the Gods and Vader Immortal, the two currently Quest exclusive games (that will be on Rift proper soon enough) don't make use of it. You'll probably be able to use the bigger versions of the Job Simulator stations though.
They are focusing all of their marketing on the quest so thats a good guess
Onward is being teased on the developers discord too. Seems like they are pretty serious on building this as their main platform, which explains the lenovo partnership to get the Rift S out.
I'm waiting for the Index to drop in price before getting back into PCVR.
Tell me how Obduction plays in VR on a beta-powerful rig. Also Zed's coming out any day now.
>Pavlov
The best VR FPS. Hands down. Get it if you don't have it already.
Look into Onward and Contractors as well. They tend to be way slower paced and more tactical, so they give you something new.
>VR Dungeon Knight
If you like dungeon crawling games at all, then get this one.
>Skyrim VR
Great with mods. Mediocre without.
>Robo Recall
Fun as hell
>Minecraft
There are two options. Bedrock edition has native VR support, but the Vivecraft mod for Java has way more VR-centric features. (Touching your hot bar to select your items, physically hitting blocks to break them, and even swinging weapons to attack.)
You should also look into simple games like Eleven Table Tennis and Pokerstars. They're fun.
Yeah me too. I actually have to put it on a radiator to use it with me sitting on the bed facing to the left of my monitor.
It looks goofy as shit but it works. The PS4 Pro is in the living room and there's just nowhere good to place the camera. Had the same issue with the Kinect when I wanted to fuck about with that.
The TV stand is below eye level on the sofa and ideally you need it bang on or slightly above to get good quality tracking. TV is too big and thin to stick it ontop and too far away from the wall to like wedge it between or have it lean on it.
No room for the PS4 Pro in my room again without reconfiguring everything again. It's a real pain when I can just:
>Open case
>Take out MR headset and controllers
>Plug MR headset in and Bluetooth dongle into PC
>Wave MR headset around quickly to set up playspace if PC forgot (often remembers it anyway)
>Connect controllers via Bluetooth
>Put on and play
I got weak genes and I got sick with blades & sorcery. Will I get sick with Pavlov?
Quest is a rip off but then again so are most VR tech demos.
One huge improvement the Rift S has over the WMR stuff is the actual setup process because you set up your floor and boundary while in the headset using a pass-through view. It also has five cameras, two in front, two on the bottom pointing outwards and one on top. Also it uses the accelerometers in the controllers to temporarily predict where the Touch controllers are out of view which is a huge deal for Inside-Out Tracking. It may be a sidegrade to the Rift but it outdoes WMR's line in mostly every way.
What's this Room Scale stuff they're talking about in games like Onward?
Thia. The guns got way better since I last played. I can actually hit shit withh them now.
>First ever standalone VR console
>only $399
>ripoff
I wanna try it but the name Pavlov just sounds so...ugly...
Basically some games allow you to move freely within the given space of your room on top of its control scheme, if your space is large enough it's considered Room Scale. Some games like Job Simulator actually have accomidation for it, while others won't really care much.
Gal Gun 2 VR
Ehhhhh. I think I'd just hold out for something else though. MR is fine. It's limited vs. the high end peers but for general use it has tons of value. I only paid like £150 for mine.
The only other really dumb crazy thing I "could" do, is connect the MR headset to my downstairs PC I use for office work.
However, it is my old gaming PC which is a FX 8350 and 270X 4GB. I'm not sure it can handle VR. I have a 390X 8gb which probably could, but it's potentially temperamental.
The cooler broke on it so I temporarily put a custom cooler that doesn't fit properly onto it till I got that 1080ti (custom PCB bigger than reference PCB). It works, but eventually gravity will defeat adhesive pads and some screws.
Plus it's huge. So warping potential is high.
I might upgrade the GPU if I can get a cheap 1070 or something.
I get what that user means, it's standalone but also closed off to Oculus's walled garden. The hardware is also essentially a high-end smartphone so while it's better than the Go, it looks like shit playing something like Robo Recall in it and some games like the upcoming Stormland won't even work on it. It's the first big step in proper VR adoption seeing as it's the first proper VR platform that requires nothing else to work but it's also far weaker to make that work.
Personally I had a Lenovo Explorer for two years and while I liked it, it tended to get excessively hot, the original face mask had to be replaced and the WMR archetecture was wearing on me.
I saw the Rift S and also noticed Lenovo co-developed it and figured with the money I'd be getting this month that it'd be a good opportunity to get a new headset.
If you want a long term rpg it's still the best option sadly. Still have to mod the fuck out of it to make it any good in VR though. Karnage Chronicles might be alright? It didn't have much at launch but I'm pretty sure they've done some content updates.
Skyrim is the only RPG in VR.
I got a Dell Visor. It's probably a little better in build quality than the rest of it's peers barring the Samsung.
It gets hot to wear it, but that's due to my room being so small that gaming in there eventually gets unbearable because it's a race between the PC and my body heat in who can get the room hottest first, and wearing big headphones over the headset.
(I'll probably use the PSVR earphones instead in future since I finally found the beggars in a drawer somewhere and they absolutely suck as earphones for a phone)
WMR has had controller prediction since launch and it works great
Switch, Xbox and PS are also walled gardens, it's never been a problem. Also "opening" the walls would make no sense, since there is literally no alternative or competition for standalone VR.
Graphically it looks fine, considering it's a portable console. Running double the resolution and frame rates over Switch, what they managed to do with Quest is impressive.
Did your controllers have some issue where the battery life would show up as dead even if you put in fresh batteries? I have no fucking idea why but mine did and it makes no sense because all the controllers are universal.
It was alright, not great and I couldn't lift them too high over my head without them losing tracking. Then again as I mentioned above, I had a handful of headaches with my controllers.
The Switch is weaker hardware than the Quest to begin with. Like I said, it's good for people who couldn't do this kind of VR to begin with but from an enthusiast's perspective it seems like a scam simply because it's inferior to a PCVR setup in most ways other than not having wires. I don't exactly agree but I do understand the reasoning.
Yup. It's only for one controller though.
I also get a random sound crash to static when I have headphones on. But it's fixed by literally unplugging and plugging back in the headphones into the jack.
I think these are universal MR issues. Very minor compared to like, Move controllers freaking the fuck out on PS4 (rare usually) and on PC (super common, especially if like me, you have one that lacks a sensor and USB bandwith issues so you could only use 2 cameras with trinus anyway. A third always drove it haywire)
Can the Quest do THIS?
Ok that's actually good to know, for a while I figured it was just an issue with my set. I just use a DS4 with PSVR because fuck buying the PS3 Wiimotes when I have a perfectly good PC and VR setup for it. I'm just hoping that the Rift S doesn't have a stink over my room being pretty small (Optimal size I could get was 2.8x0.8)
If you are just starting out with VR, you will want to ease yourself into it and take breaks if necessary. It is a very foreign feeling, but your brain should adjust over time. I would switch back and forth between smooth motion and teleporting when I was first getting use to it. Many games also have an option to black out your peripheral vision while you are moving, which should help as you are adjusting. It will also help to have a fan blowing on you and keep the room cool.
footjob a toad? I'm sure there's a mod
Pavlov, Beat Saber, Robo Recall
Seems like my PC sucks too much for wireless.
>be me
>have shitty phone vr
>make it work with comp
>looks allright
>get kinect 2.0 for hand and head tracking
>move hands in front of me
>looks flat as fuck
>realize almost everything looks flat as fuck and the depth is 3DS-like at best
So. This is not how it should be right?
Mobile lenses are THAT awful at making things look 3D?
>Mobile lenses are THAT awful at making things look 3D?
There's a reason why everyone that has used a proper VR headset says mobile VR isn't real VR.
Wireless in general is fucky because of latency issues, the only one that works is Quest but you'll lose the benefits of PCVR because it simply isn't compatable with it.
Well shit.
This. I can't count how many times I've tried to access the store or Rec Room or some other online needed app and it says my shit went out.
Now we need Quest VR Gaming Centers. You and a group of 9 other people rent out a quest to use in what is essentially a laser tag arena, but with different environments and weapons provided by the VR that match up with the physical obstacles.
Unless you're talking controller gun stocks I feel like your idea would work better with a AR headset that overlays its stuff over the real world.
I just built my first seamoth but I'm too spooked to take it anywhere
Why is VR so scary bros
did they fix the pop in for that game? half the scare was the fact the VR was optimized like shit and creepies would just pop in your face due to loading distance
What game?
Sairento is still probably the coolest repeatable experience I did in VR. Once you get into the groove and figure out backflipping off walls you really feel like a ninja.
>did they fix--
no
Subnautica
VR horror games always wake up this fear inside of me. The same fear of darkness and the unknown I had as a child.
I thought I grew out of it, but nope, I still end up ripping the headset off my face. It's just too fucking real.
>all women
Why would you play RPGs in videogames? Just play DnD.
Born just in time to patpat my waifu.
what game? that isn't vr chat is it
WHAT FUCKING GAME IS THIS
If you have a dnd group, it's actually pretty cool in VR.
It's a Patreon only game, calm down!
I'll pay.
Oh. What's the name?
Shinobu Project.
Outdated build prob:
shinobuproject.itch.io
Have sex
I will. With my VR Waifu.
What's the game I always see webms of where you're taking pictures of girls' panties?
>updates every 2-4 to days!
Am I being rused
When is VR getting the lewd loli VR games though?
no VRChat does not count.
Never, whoever tries will just get rekt'd by SJWs
waaaaaaaaa
Sorry the age of the otaku died just in time to miss VR completely
Once the NWO finally passes global legislation to punish all thoughtcrime, VR will only exist as a technology to help people experience life as a marginalized female POC
Looking at his patreon, that seems fairly accurate. Give or take a day or two, he does give updates that frequently. Updates about the progress though not the demos
yeah but can you lift up her dress
For real now. What's the game where you have to take pictures of girls' panties?
Thank you.
user that would be lewd.
why the fuck is she chasing that doughnut if she already has one, greedy loli
The Marriage was so pure.
youtube.com
That stg44 in attendance though
VR IS A MEME GIMMICK FAD THAT IS ONLY GOOD FOR CREATORS WHO OWN A PATREON!!!!!
Look at the size of that thing though.
Have obduction but haven't completed it yet. It runs fine. It's not exactly graphically intensive though.
Advanced Loli Vampire AI Algorithms, user.
>mfw Until Dawn Rush of Blood is fun as a shooter but it fucking jump scares every other minute
ALWAYS FUCKING GETS ME I HATE IT
Seconding this. It's degenerate weeb shit but it's degenerate weeb shit in VR where you shoot anime sluts with your gun. Never played the pancake versions but it's pretty fun to play in VR
Zone of the Enders has VR support, and it makes the game amazing.
Seems like the Rift S is a dumpster fire of faulty sets
Honestly I would have bought one if I didn't have to rebuy half my games for it
>no Asgard's Wrath, Defector, Stormland or Lone Echo 2 release yet
You think they'd be smart enough to release a big name game alongside their flagship headsets but I guess not
>almost beat my first Expert++ song
FUCK
>I wanted to downgrade to 1/12th the power and a fraction of the library on purpose
Is it so bad to want a wireless headset I can show off to my friends and own alongside my main one?
Valve is just letting them get away with it
Every corporation involved with VR is just totally fucking around at this point
It is when the stupid can't perform anywhere near as well as your standard one can and it is when the tracking has shown to be inferior. Also it runs on a damn battery.
I'm willing to put up with those downsides if it means a wireless experience. Especially one I can travel with.
It's not like I don't have the money to burn. Are you upset I want to own one?
Jesus that looks awful
At this point I want you to buy it. It’s for your own good.
Apparently it's pretty solid for games like Minecraft and Skyrim where the majority of the game is walking. Pretty good for you too.
I think the only issue would be action oriented games where you have to duck and shit. Honestly I'd buy a pair if they weren't so expensive
assetto corsa, il-2
Journey isnt quest exlusive
It seems like it. I've seen a bunch of problems people are having with black screens, connecting the headset and controllers, sensors not working, etc. My Rift S works pretty fine though, luckily enough. Only problem I've had is infrequent flashes of white static that plenty of other people have been experiencing as well and can apparently be fixed with a software update
I can't get over how bad Moss looks on Quest compared to low setting on PC.
Still only available on Quest as of now. Who knows when it'll come to Rift?
It's not out yet on the Oculus store last I checked and technically Vader Immortal isn't exclusive in that sense either. Considering the Quest demo I played though, both are on the Quest now and will be on PC later.
I have a 1080 and I notice some frame smoothing with it at certain parts.
>PC VR streaming to wireless Oculus Quest
This setup looks genuinely legit. Literally get the best of both worlds once the software matures.
Except it's only 3dof and no controllers.
>no one ever mentions the objectively most breathtaking and immersive experience you can have in VR.
H3VR, Windlands (and presumably Windlands 2, although I haven't gotten to that one yet), GORN, BLARP!, The Lab (fucking obviously), Climbey, Duck Season, the Serious Sam games, store.steampowered.com
>objectively most breathtaking and immersive
>not Richie's Plank Experience
is piracy on the quest gonna be possible? I may buy it if so
Only worth it for Oddysey+/Reverb owners, of the consumer devices. Everyone gets blurry text.
>90% boring as fuck space commuting
>10% breathtaking and immersive and vaguely unsettling on an existential level
I'd play it more if they hadn't monetized everything that I usually grind my ass off in pursuit of, fucking kikes
You can sideload apps ala Android but other than that you don't have many options
Why would he do that? Does he not realize how VR works?
>When you mod so many weapons you break B&S
spooky
Where can I get this mod?
these always look cool but how the hell would they work for anything that's faster than a slow walk, I imagine they wouldn't handle sharp turns very well at all, so you couldn't use them for anything more involved than a walking sim
The only thing that's monetized is cosmetics, unless that's what you mean. Personally, grinding for a bigger ship is enough for me. And if you don't want to be a space trucker, there's always combat or mining, both of which are tons of fun, the latter of which pays pretty fucking well, unless the boom dies since i was last on. Or exploring desu. Look at the the pretty planets and celestial objects. Personally, for me, the mere fact that I"M FLYING A FUCKING SPACE SHIP IN SPACE is enough to make space trucking enjoyable for me.
Is it really that bad on other devices? I have the O+ so it's fine for me, but I just assumed it was better, not not completely unplayable.
Is this what brustling feels like?
oh christ fuck I finally got it together and headed out in my shiny new seamoth to go rescue some motherfuckers
ended up descending into absolute fucking darkness, expected some horrible monster to swim up and eat my sub
instead the damn thing started crumpling like a tin can, barely managed to surface in time and limp home
At least I found two quartz on the way there
Nexus.
>vox machinae
damn shame the only vr mech game is fucken dead
>so you couldn't use them for anything more involved than a walking sim
Good thing we have a lot of those haha
>mfw saw Archangel for sale
>Promoted itself as a VR mech game
>It was just a fucking rail shooter, and a really mediocre one
>Find IOTA Project tech demo
>Fun as fuck, played like a vidya version of G Gundam in how you moved
>Devs gave up and will never make it a full game
I am going to murder someone if Wolfenstein Cyberpilot is shit, I want my VR mech piloting action and fucking nobody is capitalizing on what should be a no-brainer genre
What are you a fuckin queer?
Archangel Hellfire is free roaming multiplayer segment of it but probably deader than Vox Machinae
Someone mentioned ZOE2 VR earlier
echo, compound vr
Too bad that WarRobots VR isn't coming out any time soon.
You've still got 3-4 years til actual good vr games come out
what the fuck
ZoE 2 MARS is cool but the cutscenes and entire pre-Jehuty section aren't in VR. It's still the definitive experience due to the work Cygames put into the new textures and shit but it isn't quite enough to sate me.
the only hope we have is the rumored titanfall vr game they're developing, the issue is their game they made earlier this year probably made them shift focus on developing it
Come to think of it, VorpX is probably a pretty good solution until something (Hawken? Mechwarrior?) comes out with proper VR support.
Except I haven't seriously played any PC mech games since MW3 so I wouldn't even know what to try it with
>Oculus Quest is supposed to be the cheap entry level option
>It's $650 AUD
That's so upsetting, I want to like VR but it keeps giving me reasons not to.
That's early-PS2 tier graphics if I'm being generous
I've been waiting for high res headsets to play this so I can read the text. Have Index on preorder.
>That spoiler
Don't toy with my heart user, please, Apex becoming Respawn's main focus other than the Star Wars game made me sad enough I don't want to get my hopes up anymore.
Elite Dangerous
Dungeon Knight worth a shit?
Just move out of there already? VR is worth it, and if you somehow get sick while in VR just turn on the fan.
post moar
I found it janky, unbalanced, uninspired and repetitive but the guy keeps working on it at least: it got a content update like days ago.
Karnage Chronicles is a lot more polished but I don't think its updated for a long time.
Are there any good android VR games
Elite, Onward, Robo Recall.
game?
Okay, honest question. What is the exact point of the Oculus Quest when Rift S / Vive Pro exist? BESIDES the price difference. Assume money is not a factor
>What is the exact point of the Oculus Quest
it's a closed platform so zuckerface can make loads of money and collect all your private data
Because you don't need a PC, it's a fully self-contained VR headset so no wires to worry about.
Also who the fuck would buy a Vive Pro over an Index if they were going heavy into PCVR anyway?
If you like driving games get dirt rally and assetto corsa. They aren't originally vr games but very fun anyways.
It's mobileVR dude, gimped versions of existing VR games, short battery life, locked to Oculus store
On the bright side you can play superhot in public and get raped by niggers. Now that's what I call haptic feedback.
I'm really considering replacing my headset with a Quest once Riftcat gets games seeing it as Touch controllers instead of Vive wands, but I'm afraid this is one of those things everyone says is great but doesn't mention the thousands of problems they actually have
Oculus Quest is causing a lot of port-begging cancer on the Steam forums.
>Ah this game has a simple visual style, it'd be perfect for the Quest!
As if they don't realize how unoptimized modern devs' work are and that even something 'simple' like Superhot's port required the devs to basically hire on folks with more expertise than themselves and to essentially rebuild the whole game in a year.
Virtamate, you need an Autism Quotient of at least 125 to even run it and then it will cripple your balls for the rest of your life
>something 'simple' like Superhot's port required the devs to basically hire on folks with more expertise than themselves and to essentially rebuild the whole game in a year.
You're kidding, that game has Starfox tier graphics and garbage physics
Good, it's about time someone calls out those talentless hacks.
I use the Odyssey+ and have 0 issues.
what is that dog's IPD
I wish I were. The team of the game wrote a whole blog entry on it. The animation systems they used, the lighting engine, and the particle counts all have to be redone, plus cutting the polygon count wherever possible.
Shame about the lighting though. Quest version looks like they used simple lightmaps inplace of the higher resolution baked GI look of the original VR release.
Well yeah, that headset is high res.
Even FO4 has a mod to turn all the girls into anime, what's B&S' excuse?
It would require modders to create detachable anime models without killing your rendering budget.
>What are the best VR games?
waifu sex simulator
What is the state of fighter jet VR games? I would have figured that would have been the easiest and first thing that would take off but all I've ever seen advertised heavily are live chatting and swinging a sword around. Where are the 50 people hyper realistic dog fights in vr?
>WSS
>best anything
Is this thing selling?
Does that mod work on the VR version? Might buy it on sale if it does
It's not even been out a week yet.
How are VR racing games without a steering wheel? I don't have a racing wheel nor do I care to spend the dosh on one but I've been interested in getting a driving game for the heck of it
I own a quest and can confirm that everything I have played looked better than the crap user posted.
You could be the one to prove that Quest doesn't look like shit then, so far nobody has
Lone Echo was great. Good example of storytelling in VR.
I'm a huge fan of dicking around in H3VR when I'm bored. Puzzle/Escape Room games are always fun when you want to do something a little less active. Skyrim/Fallout VR are okay, but even with shit cranked up to max, everything in the distance is blurry and it really kills immersion.
If you liked RAD for the PS2, there's VRobot and Megaton Rainfall, which both scratch that "Lets do big shit" itch. Superhot VR is fun, and can be challenging depending on how used to VR you are by the time you get to it.
Finally, get Bigscreen Beta or something like it. I downloaded a torrent of Terminator 2 3D, and rewatched it all the way through in actual 3D, and it was a fucking blast. If you have SBS 3D films available, it's a fun experience.
>Megaton Rainfall
is like trying to hit the urinal with your stream of piss while completely shitfaced
>Lone Echo
No, it was boring as fuck. Excellent graphics but the gameplay was just "move to quest marker and press the button" over and over again. I can't imagine a more braindead game.
those traditional types of ODT are stupid as fuck military/police-industrial complex exercises which have never actually worked at all and almost surely never will. the massive inertia of their moving tread totally ruins them, they are only good for a slow constant speed. something like the circulafloor (pictured) or VR shoes would be less inherently-impossible, but of course are really just totally different and with their own seemingly insurmountable R&D hurdles.
quest is such a fucking cool piece of tech, I have PCVR already but i still kinda wanna get one, imagine if this shit was 299. it'd sell like MAD
Mage's Tale is pretty good, though its rather frantic.
The subreddit is growing exponentially and its sold out on amazon and best buy so I assume the quest is doing pretty well
they are running LOTS of ads
youtube.com
Its sold out on amazon, seems like the 400 $ pricepoint is fine.
Considering the hardware its not unlikely they are selling the 64gb version at a loss
If the devs would ever add fucking motion controls, it'd be amazing.
yeah it's not the 400 thats the issue really, it's the fact that it costs almost a 100 dollars more in my country when you convert it.
I am really keen to see sales numbers, the only sad thing is that at a completely objective level, you'll probably get more value out of any other console than you would buying a quest currently. I hope this becomes like the switch and gets devs excited for working on it.
I'm surprised Oculus hasn't thrown it off their store yet for how zero-effort its "VR" support is.
I mean, dont they also have dirt rally?
Generally I‘d hope for atleast motion controller support when buying from oculus
Hardcore games haven't made their way to VR yet. It's all basic bitch shit right now (and possible always)
I really don't know why they didn't go with a halo head strap for the quest.
The baseball cap style is uncomfortable as fuck, particularly because it's so fucking front heavy.
WHY IS EVERY VR THREAD HAVE THE WEBMS?
you'd think with all the new vr stuff happening there would be more webms and gifs and stuff?
how do i record webms or videos ill make some myself.
I guess the portability was more important?
It was partially a tech demo, the anti-grav mechanics are used in the free multiplayer half, Echo Arena/Echo VR if you want something more action-based.
the boomers are joining
Recording 'good' VR is hard without a beefy machine, especially to get the raw eye render rather than the garbage cropped 'spectator' window that most games slap on the desktop.
It's pretty much just boomers who are into VR right now. And by boomers I mean 45+ year old engineers who don't give much of a shit about video games.
just use the steamvr mirror window
I really wish Robo Recall had more content. I love the shit out of it, but there's so little to actually play. Really wish it had a properly made survival mode, boss rush or something.
They won't add any new content unless facebook pays them again. That's the problem when the customer is a big corporation instead of the actual players.
I was hoping the Superhot VR port to Quest meant the devs had an excuse to add more to the game's extra modes, but then it ended up that porting the game was vastly more difficult than they thought.
Plus wasting time prototyping large walkable stages to then learn it wasn't as fun as John Woo'ing in a smaller area.
Trying to reload while drunk doesn't seem to be the best idea.
artificial scarcity or real hype?
both
Anyone want a virtual lapdance from Riley Reid?
vrporn.com
half the posts on reddit are from Facebook's marketing team
>my hot wife trying quest for the first time
suuuure zuckzuck
they are doing a good job tho
I'm just thankful someone made a VR fix for it at the start of the year, it was unbearable to play before that. Now it's merely janky.
facebook knows the power of advertising
>Resident Evil VII
>PSVR Exclusive
>more VR viral marketing trying to prop up a fucking dead industry
Holy fuck.
It won't last much longer thankfully. Facebook has already dropped PC VR like a hot potato and is going all in on mobile VR. Once that fails like Google Daydream and GearVR did, they'll abandon it. Their investors won't let them sink more billions into something niche like this. Luckily we have gaben to save us.
>dead industry
>consistently growing
>seeing military and police adaption
>PSVR sold 4.2 million copies
>4 new headsets last month
>index and quest sold out at launch
I-It will die soon guys hahaha! Meme gimmick! Meme Gimmick Fad !
I wonder how fucking much it cost them to make a one hour demo with Star Wars licensing, and hiring ILM to do it.
Still weirds me out they have a VR division.
>mobile vr
>gear vr
>failing
PCVRlet cope
>constantly growing
Nope
>military and police
Nobody cares what violent minority murderers do
>"sold" 4.2 million
"Selling" means "shipping", there are 4.1 million units sitting in warehouses, guaranteed. This is the way the entire fucking console industry works with their laughable inflated "sales" figures.
>4 new headsets
More desperate attempts to capture a dying market. "These are actually good this time, we promise!"
>sold out
A very limited run sold out to rich idiots who believe viral marketing hype. Great.
If this shit sold 400K last year, why are there no full pavlov or onward lobbies?
It's an old hag, not a dude.
>constantly growing
venturebeat.com
>"Selling" means "shipping"
no, thats to consumers, they are specific about this
roadtovr.com
>More desperate attempts to capture a dying market. "These are actually good this time, we promise!"
investing into a dying market is not something you do, especially not R&E wise into something specific like tracking, optics and high end screens.
This is basic semester 1 economic shit
You dumb as fuck boi
That's just Episode 1. It's actually a three-parter, so that probably totals to around 3 hours of "experience". Vader Immortal is worth 10 bucks just for the lightsaber training mode alone though.
How are there people that honestly believe that they don't stock enough initially to make back losses in production?
You think they only had 10 for sale and everyone claiming to buy it is an undercover shill out to gaslight you?
You can't afford it, no one is trying to trick you into spending money you don't have.
Those are pathetic sales numbers considering the amount of money invested. Remember Facebook paid $2B for Oculus alone, plus 5 years of R&D, manufacturing and marketing costs since then. It's a money pit.
It was supposed to only be exclusive for 12 months, but either Playstation paid Capcom to extend the exclusivity or Capcom didn't care enough to port it to PC.
So they produce products in a dying market to rich idiots to somehow turn a profit?
How is the market dying?
The poorfag is shining through
Main problem with mobile VR is the lack of head tracking
>Didn't see the "Mobile" part of your post
>Instantly have a gigantic interrogation mark over my head when I read your post.
Whoopsie
>Final level
>main boss is this fucker
creepy
UNTIL NOW
It's less powerful than PSVR and that looks like PS3 tier so of course
Dirt Rally is on the PSVR
They were also busy working on the Arcade version, but they've said they'll port over the new content from that.
the webm is actually from the oculus go, here is some Quest gameplay

>Everyone was saying back when the first headsets came out that 90fps is the absolute minimum for comfortable VR
>and now oculus are coming out with "nah 80/72fps should be fine"
VR is probably the best thing to happen to video games.
the peak
Oculus has been on a race to the bottom ever since Facebook bought them.
I really can't wait for the NDA lift off on 29th. Really hoping that they ship it early too.
They're obviously going for a June arrival judging from the Viveport promo.
Huh, didn't know about this. I only heard that the controller and the Link were shipped nearly a month early.
Well they do say "ships by" instead of "starts shipping"
Didn't want to get my hopes up with just that since it apparently it doesn't say it in other languages.
>apparently it doesn't say it in other languages
so what does it say?
Been a while since I read about that but it wasn't 'ships by'. Asking around some of the europoors that I know now to confirm.
This finally releases on Tuesday. I'm disappointed the enemy's death animations/physics don't look that great, but I'm still excited for a throwback to The Getaway. I hope it's nearly as polished as Astro Bot.
Five Nights at Freddy's VR and Trover Saves the Universe also launch next week, but I'm not interested in either. Trover has my curiosity because it's more of a traditional game unlike Accounting, but I find Rick & Morty humor to be painfully unfunny.
I'm glad we're getting a full version of that London Heist thing
Did you slay any thots on blade and sorcery?
Apparently some say 'ships on' but it could be bad translation.
It's funny seeing all these big budget VR games avoid putting attractive women in them, even though it would have a huge emotional impact since it's VR. On Steam the majority of VR users are in porn apps, but devs can't even put a slightly pretty girl in their games for fear of backlash.
I'm getting a quest saving up some money for it now since I'm on a tight budget right now.
Worth it if you compare it to the Nintendo switch.
Does vivecraft work on multiplayer servers?
Me too. It's looking like Uncharted, yet inherently more interesting thanks to full immersion.
Pic related isn't nearly as big budget or high quality as Blood & Truth, but Sony published it themselves. It has a total of three sexy women, however you don't see them much. You're right though, not many attractive females in VR. All the Summer Lesson games are still import-only, despite them not being that lewd at all.
The need more sexy women in video games.
After sf2 and mortal combat videogames went into over kill with jiggly boob mechanics and the games sold well.
Wake me up when they add something useful like eye tracking.
roborecal is grate.
>trackmania turbo's vr doesn't have you sitting in the cockpit, instead wierdly floating over the car
I'm still sad
2B in shit like stock options. It didn't cost facebook that much
why does my created hero always fall from the selection screen? wtf?
I'm not webm user, but I use OBS Studio and capture from the SteamVR "Display VR View" window. Use your dominant eye if it is a shooting game. Then I use ffmpeg to convert to webm. I think one problem with recording VR is that it can be really hard to convey how the game feels in VR. As a result I end up saving videos of the same games more often than I would like simply because they look cool or some jankiness makes them more entertaining. I haven't made any new videos in a while because the last few games I played just don't look special in a flat video. For example, I haven't posted this video since it is long and nothing really happens that makes different from any other game except for flipping a few switches even though doing it myself feels great.
I contrast, I can play Blade and Sorcery and easily mess with the AI in ways that you wouldn't be able to do outside of VR. I don't think it is necessarily the best VR game, but videos work really well, which is probably why it ends up being posted so much. I have felt bad about not representing other games better, but I also don't want to post videos that can't convey the better aspects of playing the game in VR since it feels like it would be a waste of anons time.
Superhot is still just amazing in terms of how perfect a fit it is for VR.
Why are you landing with the HMD up, user?
I want a VR version of Exanima
>it's standalone but also closed off to Oculus's walled garden
It's a walled garden in the same sense a Nintendo Switch is a walled garden
oh actually it's less walled because you can sideload very easily.
Is Quest literally running on Android?
Under the hood it is so it supports the usual android sideloading stuff. you don't need to "jailbreak" it or anything.
So is it a custom version of Android like OxygenOS?
5 years later and the library is still trash. You can count the number of decent VR games on one hand. The rest of it is shit only VR developers and autists could ever give a shit about. It's already dead and in a state of grotesque undead.
>You can count the number of decent VR games on one hand
maybe if you were missing some fingers
Please, share with us your quintessential list of five or less good VR games. I'm genuinely curious what you'd put on it.
>OxygenOS
Wouldn't say it's like that because that just looks like a skin, there's a lot of custom work on top of it but yeah it has the main benefits of being Android based.
>The rest of it is shit only VR developers and autists could ever give a shit about
There's the tell.
Wonder how long until hacking/piracy is possible.
Oxygen is just a vendor's reskin of Android. For uses like the Quest, an OS tends to be more fundamentally gutted and rebuilt.
I haven't played flight sims before this, so I don't actually know what I am doing. It is hard to see in the video, but I also would have forgotten to put down the landing gear without the warning going off. The game has decent tutorials for the basics, but since it is still early access it just kicks you out into the missions after that. At least I did better than DCS where I first could not figure out how to take off and then in quick play mode I turned the engine off on accident while pressing all of the buttons.
In VTOL, you can flip down the visor on your helmet to activate the HMD, which gives you an augmented reality overlay. It's quite handy.
>It's funny seeing all these big budget VR games avoid putting attractive women in them, even though it would have a huge emotional impact since it's VR.
It's pretty dumb of them, although I'd still space fug Olivia given the chance
swinging around is fun, really fun.
bow & arrow with bullet sponge enemies is the dullest of experiences and drags anything good about the second game into the ground
Seriously. I was trying to get an S and not a Quest, and I still had to call 5 different Best Buys to find a store that had just a single one, and it was over an hour away.
Space Junkies
Astro Bot
Tin Hearts
Off the top of my head, not sure what else really.
>Tin Hearts
Finally, a game I haven't heard a dozen times per thread
VRChat runs so much nicer on the Quest than on PC. I have a very high end PC but VRChat always felt like a flimsy shitshow that took forever to even get into, maybe that's SteamVR's fault for being trash but on the quest you put the headset on and hit the icon and you're inside in seconds and all your sound and mic all work properly.
I know PC VRC users will whinge because their autistic avatars don't work but the reality is they'll be the minority by the end of the year and they'll all be running Quest avatars or risk looking like NPCs
It's VR Lemmings and it's nicely designed.
The vast majority of VR games are wholly unremarkable or gimmicky though, and a lot of the praised ones are barely what people would consider finished games.
Did you perhaps start on the mode where it takes multiple hits to break each weak point? That definitely did mess up the pace of fights, but normally I only remember it taking four hits to kill the strongest non-boss enemy. I really liked the bow and wish there were more normal enemies scattered through the game. Archery in general works really well in VR and I am glad it is overused so much.
I think the way VR is right now, there's a lot of enjoyment to be derived from a raw satisfying five second loop, even if the rest of the game barely exists. Like Blade and Sorcery is amazing fun, despite essentially just being a proof of concept right now.
>The minority
Good luck with that. No way the likes of /vrg/ are going to downgrade their tranny models for a bunch of mobile VR shitters.
That's fine if you're a tech enthusiast but no one else cares and for good reason. At this time VR threads belong more on /g/ than they do on Yea Forums and I mean that unironically.
i wish that video games stayed with enthusiasts instead of the bleating masses that infest that medium now
Got a Rift S a few days ago and I've been having a good time with it. Only games I've played so far have been Pavlov, buying some more. Also fucked around with a friend in VR chat laughing at all the terrible avatars.
Being a hipster isn't cool.
Virtual Desktop + Depth 3D Reshade plugin.
Now you can play literally anything in VR. You're welcome.
youtu.be
I've got a regular Rift, and am waiting for deals on Index to upgrade, but my recommendations are:
>Beat Saber
>Robo Recall (Always been a hit when showing VR to friends/family)
>Moss
>Dreadhalls
>Budget Cuts
>Gorn
>Space Pirate Trainer
>Distance
>Raw Data
>Archangel
>Wilson's Heart
>Superhot VR (another good one for showing VR to friends/family)
>Alien Isolation (w/ Mother VR mod)
>Paranormal Activity
this work for Blobbers/dungeon crawlers? like the Grimrock games? wouldn't want to pay a bunch of money for that riftcat/vorpx garbage
i cant imagine finishing entire skyrim on VR. i guess it takes forever
If it supports Reshade (which is nearly everything), then it'll work.
reshade.me
i died when i saw CIA
everything except the Skooma part was unfunny
Por no gra phy
and not crappy illusion software stuff
Shit unless you're into Giantess porn.
Neato, you might have sold a headset in the future because now VR doesn't seem like such a meme anymore
OrbusVR actually looks pretty comfy and might scratch the RPG itch.
Looks neat. Wonder if it works with Warframe.
