Does System Shock hold up if I'm not a turboboomer?

Does System Shock hold up if I'm not a turboboomer?

Which version is the best to play, if any?

Enhanced and it's okay. Marathon series is better especially 2 and Infinity.

>Marathon
My fucking nigger, never see these games on Yea Forums. Totally different beast from System Shock really though, I love both.

I was going to buy this

Is nightdive studios somehow evil?

marathon is drek

just play it if you want to pretend like you know anything about games

That looks like it could be a cool bundle

Marathon got nothing on it.
Why you even bring it here.

has better movement and ironically more verticality despite no jumping

it's still okay, but i think the level design is pretty bad. they're all just huge mazes. i don't like games that are only linear single hallways either but this one goes too far in the other direction to the point where i felt like playing it was just unpleasant sometimes.

i tried it and it was fun but i didn't finish it because i got disinterested.
just remember that the space station is built like a space station, with various wings on each floor.

System Shock 1 does not hold up, even the enhanced edition.
System Shock 2 on the other hand is still very good and very playable.

damn all that for $2? I already have them all but great bundle. SS1 and 2 and strife are top kino. Strife is my favorite out of all of them.

>one is an immersive sim
>one is a 90s fps
only thing they have in common is insane AIs

>Marathon
Good games
>is better than System Shock
Oh, fuck off you contrarian shitter.

I think I'm gonna buy it.

Strife looked neat and low effort to play, might play it today while regretting not having friends to play with.

strife is kind of like dos era deus ex. if you like vtmb and/or deus ex and dos era fps you probably would like it.

Thanks, user. I have some of these already but I still bought the bundle for Xanadu and Strife.

>Marathon
Is SHIT

Last digit is a letter and it makes you run forward

Last digit is literally the same as the above

>System Shock

The last digit is a letter and it's pretty Kool.

I finished it a few months ago and enjoyed it.

Thanks mate

No problem. They're all good games that I already had and wanted to share.

good shit

thanks for system shock user, I played 2 long ago and loved it

i should play strife

>immersive sim
Surefire way to spot a retard

>system shock 1
>immersive sim
why do you use words that you don't know?

>Marathon
>Good
Pick one

Marathon is absolutely shit it doesn't really have much aside from the massive walls of text and minor attentions to detail that do nothing like the suicide bombers. The gunplay is god awful, everything feels spongey and nothing reacts to gun fire too much. It comes off like a group of nobodies thought they could make an FPS game like doom if it had similar elements and it just fucking hurts to play.

The only guns that feel fun are the two shotguns, but that's the only thing it has.

SS1 on the other hand feels tight, the gameplay meshes well with the setting, you start feeling like you're playing an old early 90's era sprite based arma. You're laying down prone firing magnesium tipped rifle cartridges into robot and cyborg alike. You're holding the grenade with the pin pulled and counting down before tossing it into a room. You're blindly firing around corners or over furniture in hopes you hit something.

Simply put marathon isn't shit.

what is Marathon

There are only like 2 enemies in system shock 2 that can deal with a moving target and one of them is a turret.

My absolute nigger,

By this point you're bristling with weapons, explosives, advanced electronic hacking and repair equipment, personal shields, eva gear.

Walking out on that deck, swaying your smg around, that rough clack of the magazine of hornets slamming gun. Firing off manpads at giant drones with miniguns and AGM's.

Attached: 1463498788775.jpg (1214x816, 508K)

Strife has baller music so far.

every enemy in system shock is a hitscanner that stands in the middle of a corridor except for one only seen in 3 areas while you shoot your nub and bleep bloop music plays
meanwhile in marathon you can dual wield shotguns

Not really.

>meanwhile in marathon you can dual wield shotguns

Well in System Shock you can zoom around with rollerskates while wielding a lightsaber

Ho boy a shotgun that kind of functions while the other weapons suck ass. Nevermind we get a bouncing plasma rifle, a rail gun that fires fucking tank rounds and an emp cannon that kills robots instantly but with rare ammo. A beanbag gun that pushes enemies into mines or makes fliers fall to the ground.

all things that don't matter because you just one hit everything with the laser rapier

Based

youtube.com/watch?v=rixzL5WlS-Y&app=desktop

Maybe if your characters high on drugs, that said theres nothing wrong with melee viability and attempting to w+m1 every encounter with a rapier will drain you of health and energy.

You say that like it's a bad thing
