A DLC so ambitious is needed it’s own game. Bravo Koei, bravo
Nioh 2
Does the coop straight up break the game for anyone else? I started a mission to complete with a random player and there were textures missing out the ass, I couldn’t see my weapon, and my partner was invisible. Then he went and prayed at a shrine and now my screen just went black and I can’t move. I can still hear that asshole running around killing enemies and collecting Amrita.
He eventually rested at another shrine and my game got stuck on the loading screen so I had to disconnect from the internet to reload the game.
>he's still making the same thread
DaS2 was even more of a copy paste job, go suck From's dick more. Also in this case they actually improved things instead of downgrading them.
/thread
lel mad someone talked poorly about your favorite video game. you need a shirt that says "doesn't work well with others"
That doesn’t sound like racism to me. Maybe they just want to rp as a black guy. I guess you could compare it to men playing as females. Not sure which is weirder though.
>sequel is generally more of the same but with new mechanics, items, enemies, areas, and quality of life
NOOOOOOOO IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A TOWER DEFENSE RTS HYBRID HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN
>improved???
>still the same garbage UI, just made it have transparent window
>everything else is asset flip
such a lust for desperation
Sequels that are more of the same are the best kind of sequels you moron.
Based retard.
Bu-bu-bu-but sekiro!
people liked ds3 when its trash
What the fuck are you talking about you autistic dumbass
You’re right it’s like 80% the same. There’s a new weapon and awakening form. That’s it. Everything else could have been dlc for Nioh 1 and it would have played roughly the same.
There still should have been more differences.
Can you fags stop talking about From for two second? Nobody said anything about them, the fuck is wrong with you
>A DLC expansion that grew so much in size they decided to make it its own thing
I'm alright with that. And I do hope it's shorter, Nioh really wore out its welcome.
BB > massive power gap > Sekiro = Nioh 1/2 = Demon's Souls > Dark Souls 1 > "the rest" (Dark Souls sequels, Lord of Fallen, the Surge, etc).
I'll have to see the final product. But Nioh with more skills weapons and enemies is all I wanted. If you wanted a ton of changes then find a different series.
>nobody is talking about fromsoft, the fuck is wrong with you
Read this and shut the fuck up you massive tool
Don't you dare to (you) me ever again
It sounds like OP is trying to paint this as a bad thing, but Nioh was awesome and all I wanted was the same game but more of it.
If you’re responding to someone then quote them fucktard.
>if you wanted a bunch of changes find a different series.
Lol at you thinking like this. Imagine having no standard of improvement for a sequel and having your mind blown by one fucking weapon. Kill yourself.
No. You're the type of cunt that wants the sequel totally different than the first game. If you want that make a new game. Dmc is basically just new weapons enemies and mechanics and it's GOAT as fuck. Same with NG. Most of the best series are iterative.
Didn't I told you not to (you) me?
Are you that fucking retarded you can't follow a simple order?
Jesus, nioh defense force is way more autistic than I thought
>LITERALLY the same copypasted garbage with 0 (Z E R O, NADA, NIL, NAUGHT) improvement
>b-but w-what about that other g-game
Do you niohfags realize your attitude is exactly the reason why you aren't getting a better game?
I wanted at least 3 new weapon types, some combo changes to the original weapon types, new awakening mechanics, which we got and are good, and a new and improved loot system. Perfectly reasonable demands for a sequel and I got one of the four. My standards aren’t high or unrealistic, yours are just nonexistent.
Jesus Christ, concern-trolls concern-trolling concern-trolls
The problem is it's going to have the same problems all over again. This just means you've experienced Nioh and every consequential sequel and DLC by playing Nioh 1 for an hour.
Basically, if you really like Nioh, you'll like this game. If you had problems with the previous version of the game (shit level design, music, enemies, etc) don't expect that to be improved because it won't be.
To each their own.
Have they confirmed Axe is the only new weapon or that old weapons aren't getting any new skills?
>game is the same as the very first
>still million times better than sekiro
based
>DaS2 was even more of a copy paste job, go suck From's dick more.
das2 is considered the worst, what are you talking about? this "sequel" is looking pretty underwhelming, get over it
>wojack poster
>Fromshill
checks out
>Same with NG
I'm really looking forward to Nioh 2 but no one in their right mind looked at Ninja Gaiden 2 and thought "is this an expansion? it looks the same as 1/Black/Sigma."
They haven’t confirmed it but there is literally no good reason for them to have not included at least two new weapons. There’s less choices to play in this demo than in the original, unless they wanted the focus to be more on the new yokai moves and shift. Which I guess I can get.
Honestly this demo isn’t that bad at all. I’m actually really okay with it, I just started off the op like that as a joke.
>inb4merelypretending
I remember now why I don’t come here to discuss new things.
>new gfx
>new engine
>new ui
>new enemies
>new story
>new world
>new stats
>new mechanics
>copy paste job.
DaS2 sucked but it wasnt no asset flip or reskin.
All the footage we have seen was from alpha development and people are complaining it still looks like Nioh 1
It's basically the same game with new weapons and enemies dude. And that's why it's great.
What the fuck happened to Yea Forums that people reach so hard for a game vs. game shitpost war as to compare completely unlike products like Sekiro and Nioh? The scope of both games is totally different, caters to different audiences, and can't be compared at all outside of the antiquity Japanese era and "analog stick make man go forward, shape button make man go slashy slash". And even with the similarity in setting Sekiro takes place at the tail-end of the 16th century and Nioh takes place towards the beginning.
DaS2 wasnt a copy paste
and that was the problem
they made everything from scratch and just made everything worse
people wanted DaS1 with new areas and new enemies, but instead we got DaS2
team ninja is doing it right with Nioh2 by giving people Nioh1 with new areas, new enemies, new weapons, character creation, etc
It's been years but iirc they gave up weapons slowly over the series of demos for 1.
>The problem is it's going to have the same problems all over again
They are already avoiding the problem of overpowered guardian spirit by giving every guardian spirit its own attack and defense multipliers instead of dumping all the good shit on Kato.
They are already avoiding the problem of LW being braindead easy mode by making oni mode way more diverse and interesting mechanically and not tied to certain weapon choices, now you actually need to learn and use unique abilities of your oni forms because you can't any longer just spam LW Reaper or Moonlit Snow.
They already gave at least 4 full sets in alpha alone which most likely means more itemization from get-go instead of that shit being mostly limited to NG+. There's also new gear types like Corrupted weapons that are fun as fuck to use.
They tightened some of the ki pulse related timings at the same time as giving a clear sound indication for ki pulsing to force people to actually master this mechanic.
They added yokai cores for even more bonus stat customization and moveset variety and rebalanced onmyo and ninjutsu on top of adding more special offensive ninjutsu and magic.
Level design and music were never a problem of Nioh 1, in terms of level design it's easily DeS tier and had excellent ambience and boss themes, the second one also looks like straight improvement in those areas too.
For every returning enemy type there's a new one and new enemies are harder than any vanilla ones, every returning enemy got multiple new attacks like Kappas who can now spin in their shells or sword yokai who can kick and go into huge multihit forward combos.
The game addressed pretty much every concern from people who actually liked the first game. The only ones who are shit outta luck are the ones who expected the game to just be a generic souls clone. Those can fuck right back off.
Not like this. This is like if Bloodborne and The Old Hunters were different games. I can see why some people are upset. I'm still happy, I just wanted more weapons/magic and for them to dumpster the Diablo loot.
sup
I would fucking love it if the old hunters was a full game's worth of content dude.
Honestly none of this addresses my concerns. I think Nioh is a moderately good game that improves on the Soul combat and does everything else worse essentially.
The alpha led to more of the same feeling for me. I will probably pirate it.
Imagine being so delusional
Me too, but remember that this is Yea Forums and a lot of people here fucking hate "rehashes" more than anything.
So in their eyes Nioh 2 = Lazy rehash $60 DLC Go fuck yourselves Koei Tecmo
Luckily they're retards, and more of a good thing with some tweaks isn't a bad sequel by any stretch.
imagine thinking sekiro is good.
Well fuck em I guess.
Only thing I disagree with is that LW being OP is no longer a problem. I tried all of them in the alpha and just spammed with all of them and they are still really fucking strong and brain dead. Also fuck them for removing kusarigamas.
There's less/the same amount of weapons. They removed kusarigama and added hatchets.
I'll believe it when I see it. The beta for nioh1 had a limited weapon selection compared to the final product as well.
>no new shit except some fast weapon
Stacking debuff talismans and ruining everything with high stance odachi it is!
>ps4
BASEDcensorstation doesn't deserve this
And this comes from a frogposter
Go play layer 999 and think nioh is better
People like you shouldn't have the right to give an oppinion
I got the same feel. I wish they changed up the UI and improve the feel of the game a little more.
We don't have to imagine because it is. It has better music, atmosphere, levels, world design, bosses, etc. Nioh 2 will be the same roll-a-dick broken builds loot bullshit the first one was.
>Go play layer 999 and think nioh is better
unironicallya game that gives me +1000 hours of enjoyment is better than one that's over after 23 min.
lol nope.
You cant even articulate what you specifically disliked and why no one cares that you just disliked it
As someone who has gotten to layer 999 it was not worth it and it becomes braindead once you understand how to cheese every fight
There's no spot for their skill trees on the skill tree screen unless they completely rearrange it. Maybe I'm wrong but I wouldn't get your hopes up user.
>Same with NG
Get fucked Nioh fanboy, don't talk about games you never fucking played.
Each iteration of Ninja Gaiden made sweeping changes to the mechanics and core design of the game. Ninja Gaiden 2 introduced major gameplay mechanics and changed the level design and progression entirely, Razor's edge again introduced sweeping gameplay changes and new mechanics. The whole of the combat system was changed between each game, not even the movesets remained the same. Fucking posers...
I beat one and two aka the only worthwhile ones on the hardest and second hardest difficulty respectively. I immediately recognize your positing style though and don't feel like talking to you. You're super autistic and actually enjoyed playing as the shitty side characters.
Why are you literally lying to people's faces? Living weapon is as braindead OP as it's always been. Didn't even bother to read the rest of your tripe.
uh oh he actually listed changes, better handwave him since i didn't play it and can't argue for or against any of those
>Living weapon is as braindead OP as it's always been
Show me the demon form that can perform LW Reaper user.
Can we talk about this trend in which sequels barely look better than the preceding game?
Graphics will plateau sooner or later, user, better to rip that band-aid off now.
If it has so much as 2 weapons and/or magic it'll be an infinite improvement compared to Sekiro.
Sure. Who cares? Graphics whores are a blight.
Holy shit it's the fucking secondary again talking out of his ass and hanging himself further with each post. Stop talking about Ninja Gaiden retard, you have fuck all understanding about it, not even of basic instantly recognizable things apparently, your musings on the subject count for literally fucking nothing. Stick to Diablo and stop hiding behind name dropping NG to try and justify it's many faults.
Are you Ken, the Bayonetta discord fag? You're about as ignorant and misguidedly opinionated as him so you might be,
>Are you Ken, the Bayonetta discord fag? You're about as ignorant and misguidedly opinionated as him so you might be,
please stop and take inter-discord wars back to discord before you embarrass yourself further
Nah, you're just a blatant avatarfag and I like action games. I've seen you sperg out a dozen times. The side characters suck dick and NG3 was garbage.
way to expose yourself tranny
When those pathetic faggots stop using Yea Forums as their dumping ground i will.
>go there to form cliques and jerk each other off
>come back here full of self validation to spread their autism
Discord is just /vg/ cancer magnified 100 fold.
and they have you riding on their coat-tails yelling at them to fuck off, now keep it to discord
i never step foot on discord
>yelling at them to fuck off
yes, and?
Does the game have more than 5 differerent enemies and area types this time around?
>Nioh haters are the autistic discordfags
Nothing you say holds any meaning casual secondary. Millions of retards have finished a NG game.
do you think that's actually getting them to fuck off or do you think it's making the thread even worse because now they have somebody paying attention to them
In the alpha or in Nioh 1?
I still haven't beaten Nioh . I hit a wall in one of the DLC's and got the impression it was either start grinding for equipment or suffer. I liked the base game though and breezed through it. Too bad I can't justify buying Nioh 2 until I somehow finish the DLC of the first. Oh well.
I don't really care either way, they are never going to fuck off and ignoring them is just giving them carte blanche for social engineering, it's not gonna make them stop. I'd rather just call out their bullshit and let them know they are not some secret agent.
I like that your definition of a good thread is letting autists run rampant with fanboyism and lies.
>I like that your definition of a good thread is letting autists run rampant with fanboyism and lies.
one or two weeks of no attention, no replies, no (You)s is typically enough to completely suffocate somebody being an epic memelord even if they're dedicated, you're making things worse by paying attention to them or assigning them specific identities to argue against
You're some nobody who thinks playing as the girls is actually fun, so I don't really see why you think your opinion matters.
>I wanted at least 3 new weapon types
It's the alpha, we don't know what else is there yet, I refuse to believe they scraped more than half the weapons of the first game
>some combo changes to the original weapon types
Some weapons already got new moves like the odachi's backwave parry
>a new and improved loot system
The loot system got slightly improved since now every weapon and armor pieces have an inherent stat to them no matter how shitty they are, which makes nonset pieces and the crafting of nonset pieces actually valuable while leveling if you're aiming to do a gimmick build of sorts, for example all the firestarter pieces have an inherent +fire damage stat to them.
The alpha is almost everything I wanted and more, really excited for the full game. I absolutely love yokai skills, it's funny because it's basically and idea I had before but better than I ever imagined. I originally really wish they would give guardian spirits their own unique attacks that can be performed using your amrita gauge. Only complaint about yokai skills is that they don't have invincibility, which is fine for some of them like kappa shell or the skeletons but the attacks with longer animations and bigger hitboxes should have some level of invincibility and protection I feel. Some attacks aren't invincibile but do have a lot more favorable hitboxes like the one you get from the giant worm type boss that lets you go underground.
On leddit there are so many people bitching that the game doesn't remove every enemy from the first game and have entirely new ones. People expect way too fucking much especially since the game has only likely been in full production for a year and a half considering that's when the last dlc dropped.
Why do you think they removed kusarigamas? The game has the same amount of weapons as the open beta
>The only Nioh threads on Yea Forums are to shit on it
>Nioh 2 threads are the same
Nothing has changed
The graphics aren't improved a whole lot other than bloom and lighting but Nioh 2s visual design is a lot more colorful and flashier, same with enemy design. It makes the game look a lot more beautiful than the original imo
>Sekiro
>better music
This is your typical fromdrone everyone. Sekiro is Yuka Kitamura's worst work yet. Yugo Kanno is still making great music for Nioh and Jojo.
Nioh DLCs don't require grinding for gear, the gear drops inside the levels are good enough, but you probably want to try out everything as they are a bigger test of knowledge and skill. Try out different weapons, armor, charms, consumable items, weapon skills, ninjustu, onmyo, guardian spirit stats, etc.
I think this quote from the director of Nioh 1 and Nioh 2. Here he is specifically talking about Nioh 1 to be clear.
>Yugo Kanno
Oh shit, he is the one who did Nioh OST?
It's by far the most underrapreciated part of the game.
He did jojos? Hot damn, part 3 and part 5 have some of my favorite anime OST ever, guy has incredibly diverse taste if he also did Niohs incredible music which differs so much. Also funny how it's the second game he's ever done music for.
That's literally not true and you know it, no one leaves this place, no one stops. If left unquestioned they simply press on and the bullshit becomes canonical as it gets parroted by whomever follows, it's how the hive mind was established in the first place. I don't understand how you could make this claim at all, it is entirely contrary to the reality of this place, autism flourishes.
I am a nobody, but on this subject i happen to be several orders of magnitude higher than you on the totem pole so yeah, my opinion does matter more than yours. Knowledge and experience are not some abstract concepts, they matter when discussing a subject, they always did. Just because we both have a voice and our posts have the same font doesn't mean they hold the same weight. It's common courtesy to pretend they do but that hinges on the less knowledgeable person not overstepping their boundaries, then it becomes a debate. Character also counts for something, not being a little faggot trying to elicit reactions with bullshit helps.
What new mechanics has been added?
I played the original on xbox right around release because I'm a big action game fan. I really don't see what you think makes you so much more knowledgable. You probably have more time invested in the series because I prefer dmc. But that doesn't account for much with double digit iq.
>acts as if the alpha has all the weapons implemented and everything about the game is in stone and complete
Retard-tier.
Instead of LW there's essentially Sin Devil Trigger. Multiple oni forms and all of them have gimmicks. Red Oni parries, blue oni has dodge offset and huge speed, mage oni can teleport around and his movesets are telekinetic Automata's 9S-style. You can stil perform Guardian Spirit attack and oni even has unique animation for it.
Each Guardian Spirit can be equipped with 2 yokai cores that act like special attacks transforming you into the demon for a second or summoning the demon to help you. You can grow kappa shell, summon undead archers, transform into a fire tornado, spit poison, so on. Specials are governed by yokai energy bar which fills up by attacking, taking damage and collecting amrita. It increases fast and you can use those specials A LOT.
Onmyo has very cool things right now like a buff that makes your weapons release shockwaves on strong attacks or summonable shikigami that automatically explode if they see the enemy. Same for ninjutsu that got ninja magic.
Some yokai are so strong they envelop entire areas in constant yokai realm which slows down your ki regen but makes your yokai horns grow. Bosses enter yokai realm mode for super strong specials, for example the snake boss releases his snake hands into separate attackers.
All returning weapon types got new skils like an OP parry for odachi or evasion skill for low spear.
Sounds fun. I don't really get the fuzz over this game right now, it's pretty much like from Dark Souls 1 to Dark Souls 2.
No it isn't retard
Yes, it's better since it actually brings new mechanics without remaking everything in clunkier way.
>really don't see what you think makes you so much more knowledgable
Having more knowledge and experience than you. This is not a hard concept to understand just to swallow. It's funny that being a DMCfag i bet you unironically will jerk off to a donguri video in the same breath as you make this post.
You're a "big action game fan" but you "finished" one game out of 6. Size is relative and NG can be reduced to the most brain dead exercise. Youtube is filled with footage of people beating NG on MN with Izuna Drop and UT spam, you can brute force your way through any game. You think those people are on the same level as someone who bothered to learn the intricacies? You think just because you got a bachelors degree in electrical engineering your suddenly on the same level as anyone who ever did the same? You're ridiculous.
Can you co-op with friend yet?
Dark Souls 2 was shit but it looked and played completely different from the first game. Watching Nioh 2 footage it'd be hard to tell it's a new game if it wasn't for the custom character.
>Some yokai are so strong they envelop entire areas in constant yokai realm which slows down your ki regen but makes your yokai horns grow
Is there anything you can do to dispel it though? The first boss does this but I have no clue on how to remove it.
>You can grow kappa shell
I have this core but I'm not sure how to activate it. Please explain.
Dark Souls 2 also played worse than Dark Souls 1.
Nioh had great animations and great combat overall, why change it just because? DMC games have had the same combat animations for Dante (and Nero) since DMC3.
Defeat the enemy
>Yokai shift
Living Weapon replaced with distinct Yokai forms with their own weapons and mechanics, you pick your yokai form based on your spirit guardian. So far there are 3 yokai types. Each Guardian Spirit has their own unique attack while in yokai form
>Soul Core & Yokai Force
You can obtain soul cores which are a new gear item attuned to your spirit guardian, two can be equipped at a time and you get them from dropped yokai. When you equip a soul core you get access to a special ability based on the yokai you got it from, you can perform this skill by earning yokai force which is a new meter.that is earned by hitting enemies and I think getting hurt. Each guardian spirit seems to have another way to earn yokai faster or through other means like for example one says it gives you yokai force for blocking
>Skill tree
This got revamped a bit, you know have a samurai skill tree separate from everything else which so far just contains universal skills you previously had to invest into every weapon you wanted to use i.e. dodging causes a ki pulse, switching stances causing a ki pulse, the stance specific buffs for doing a perfect ki pulse. Each weapon now has their own unique skill points. You earn weapon, ninja, and magic skill points purely by using them. You get samurai skill points from leveling up and it's set that you get them at certain levels, doesn't matter where you put your stats.Ninja and Onmyo has a good amount of new and cool stuff. One of the biggest highlights for me is a fire element skill that has 4 orbs float around you, causing damage to enemies that touch it and every heavy attack you use sends one towards the enemy for extra damage and shit. Speaking of, fire, water, and lightning are the only elements in the game. This isn't counting poison.
There are tons TONS of other smaller stuff changed and improved but this post is already too long
Don't think so but there's a courage stat that influences ki regen which seems to be the counter for yokai realms. Alternatively try sacred water. It's clearly done to encourage you to use items more.
Attune it into one of the yokai core slots and press corresponding buttons.
Shell makes you invulnerable from behind for a bit.
Why did they fucking change the learning skills UI it was perfect before
The new enemies are really fun to fight but I hope the enemy variety throughout the full game will be better this time around.
you already could in nioh 1
youtube.com
>Its literally the exact same game
AHAHAHHAHAAH niohniggers btfo
Right, but is the option available in the alpha?
I said I finished 1 and 2. 3 looked awful so I skipped it. And bayo and dmc and chaos legion and basically every worthwhile action game since I started playing games in the early 90s.
Yes
They call the area "dark realm" and it seems bad at first but while it debuffs your stamina, it boosts your yokai force and possibly your amrita guage. You pretty much embrace your demon half while in it. in the open areas you get rid of it by killing a specific yokai, with bosses it eventually goes away but I THINK you can dispel it early by breaking the bosses ki or doing something unique to the boss like having the boss break a pillar in the first level and killing the 2 snakes in the 2nd boss. I haven't tested this though it could be a coincidence
Thanks for the write up, how abusable are the beneficial summons?
I have around 300 hours into Nioh, cleared everything in Way of the Nioh, platinum trophy, etc etc. Still had to beg my ass off for an alpha code on facebook but I got one
I really REALLY love it
>enemy variety is expansive from the start
>game actually looks better (boot Nioh on a regular PS4 right after the alpha and you'll immediately see the changes)
>Yokai mode is much more fun than Living Weapon, which was more of a panic button most of the time (aside from endgame LW-focused builds)
>ki pulse timing is a bit tighter but there's more indicators of when to perfectly pull one off
>level design went from good but very basic in 1 to already more complex just from the alpha in 2
>twilight missions being in the alpha means there's gonna be a shitton of content just like in 1
>new skills and new varied onmyo that already looks more useful than the usual buff/debuff/spirit talisman from 1
>a base skill tree for passive stuff and reworked skill trees for each weapon
>CHARACTER CREATION
If DMC5 wasn't released this gen, Nioh 2 would probably be the action game of the generation
I agree but at the same time a sequel need some kind of substantial change. Combat should be left alone but I want to see more weapons and armors, a much better loot system, more enemy variety etc.
What I've seen til now looks very lackluster in this regard.
>If DMC5 wasn't released this gen, Nioh 2 would probably be the action game of the generation
this
>dark realm taken over by demons
>because one of your ancestors has sinned with oni you don't just remove the corruption, you go devilman on its ass
Honestly a genius concept.
Some are clearly better than others but the thing I don't like and kind of assumed was that they're invincible during the animation. Some of them have pretty long animations and can increase your hitbox (it feels like it anyways) so you can't just spam them whenever and wherever. You can even get stunned by an enemy attack stopping the rest of the attack on some BUT the abilities have no cooldown, they're purely based on meter so if you play it safely you can use one several times in a row, To balance this it seems there is no way to boost how much yokai force meter you have outside of gear stats. Yokai skills have a ton of variety though, it's great. From a kappa shell that buffs your defense, to a skill that lets you move underground and re-emerge for a big aoe, to a medusa-like ability that cause paralysis effect in a cone in front of you. They really put a lot of effort into this. You even get yokai skills when defeating bosses. Like the first boss's skill lets you turn into a literal flaming tornado and move around raping enemies
I'm not sure how corrupted weapons work.
What does the sentience meter do? Why would you ever not want to use a corrupted weapon over the other ones?
That's probably the reason I'm a little down on it, DMC5 feels very very smooth and Nioh 2 doesn't quite have the same feeling.
So what the fuck am I supposed to do against this Snake boss? I thought I had to kill the smaller snakes first, but they just respawn.
As far as I can tell once the weapon's Sentience meter gets fully charged it does extra damage for a brief moments. There's also blessed weapons that are similar.
>Some are clearly better than others
Wouldn't they have lower costs?
The game literally tells you what it does when you first got one, are you stupid and don't know how to read? Are you double stupid and don't know you can look at any tutorial message again in the menu?
Also, the reason you wouldn't want to use one is possibly because they might be balanced to have lower stats I dunno but the thing is the buff they give you is kind of short and the time to get into buff mode is a bit long so to me it doesn't feel incredibly worth it though I like the idea.
damn that seems pretty retarded. you basically cant control when the extra damage buff comes in then. why do devs keep doing this. I've had it pop 4 times and it's been completely wasted every time.
Haven't fought it cuz no alpha key, but if it's anything like Onmoraki, shooting it in the crystals on its head when they glow is probably a good idea.
Fucking sick. Final question, you can bring in spirits of other players can they feasibly play the game for you? Not that I want that, I just worry about the system being abused.
You have a bar on the right under your weapon that shows when its about to fill up, so you just swap to your second weapon until you want to use the damage buff on a specific boss then you switch back to the corrupted weapon.
They're AI controlled
I summoned someone just to bait its attention, but I did pretty well without them and only died because I ran out of elixirs (only started with 4).
>You have a bar on the right under your weapon that shows when its about to fill up, so you just swap to your second weapon until you want to use the damage buff on a specific boss then you switch back to the corrupted weapon.
yeah I know about the bar. hand't thought about the weapon switch, cool tip. thanks
Why do you retards always have to shit on everything? What's good about the things that you like? nothing, that's what.
This world has become too safe for you. Decades ago you would have already crossed the wrong person and gotten murdered for it, as you should be.
I thought I hit that part when it dipped down to do a bite attack, but it didn't seem like it did anything.
Do you know if you can bait it into charging that broken wall to break it or something?
HOW DO I LEAVE A MISSION AND RETURN TO MAP
I ONLY SEE THE RETURN TO TITLE OPTION
THIS IS BULLSHIT
I have a suspicion that that's possible but I wasn't able to do it. Was more concerned about staying alive.
I get they are AI controlled, was just wondering if they could potentially be abused to beat the game for you by just being a coward shit.
I've yet to run into cost issues so far using the 3rd spirit guardian which has the most attunement points
They can to an extent, at the end of the day they're still AI. I actually went and experimented with it once. It took FOREVER for the AI to kill a single human opponent but it did it, then when it had to fight two humans it got raped real hard. I think they're still useful when you fight with them but it's not as easy as just letting one have for you. The other thing too is that to summon a spirit to fight with you, you need a special item/currency which you can only seem to get from random drop and from fighting revenants
himorogi fragment, but you lose all amrita. If you have a himorogi branch, you can keep it all.
Jesus you are dense. Okay, did you really finish 1 then? Did you beat Eternal Legend on Master Ninja? Did you beat every single extra mission on Master Ninja? 2 you did not even finish the main game and RE you "looked". Do you even read the shit that comes out in your posts? How deluded and conceited are you? You must have recited the "big action game fan" persona mantra one too many times, you've started believing it means more than it really does.
So are Ki Pulses no longer a thing?
I will get the game, though not at release.
Nioh is a great game and I have not doubts Nioh 2 will be fucking awesome.
However, paying full price and then pay 2 or 3 more times for DLC is just stupid. Especially since they know exactly what the contents of the DLC will be and it will take them less than a year to push it out.
So I will just wait until it's bundled with all the DLC.
They're too dumb in my experience, and they disappear after a certain period of time. They're basically only good at baiting aggro.
That's what I did with the ultimate edition and it worked out great. Got it on sale for like 15-20 bucks
Ki pulse is still here, and yokai pools are still here
Kys
I know that feel
especially with a single player game, there is nothing to lose by getting it later
There are two types of Yokai realms now, there's the small puddle that they had in the first game and there's also whole areas of the map that are infected that's akin to actually being in the Yokai dimension.
improved what? it still has weak level design, poor enemy variety, and the same garbage diablo loot system.
it's gonna be a hard pass for me and i was hopeful they would maybe learn from their mistakes instead of doing a blatant cashgrab because the combat system was well done and fun.
Oh ok gotcha. I misunderstood the "coating whole area in yokai goo" as just spawning a shit toon of small pools
I still find it weird how they gave out the codes. I'm only half way through Way of the Strong with 100 or less hours and got a code.
>plat trophy screenshot is of the first real mission on the first enemy
It's like poetry
Yes but Dark Realm engulfs an ENTIRE area, there is nothing to dispel with ki. Your character also grows sick glowing horns
>tfw didn't get a code
T-thanks KT
The only thing Sekiro has over Nioh is level design and a more open world
There seems to be a little more enemy variety this time. Small demons, a few new big ones.
>weak level design
You're wrong
>poor enemy variety
Wrong again. re-using enemies =/= lack of variety. The new enemies we got are really unique and add a lot to the enemy variety.. You can shit on the loot system, I won't blame you but a lot of people like it so they kept it. Removing it or heavily downplaying it would just make it seem like a major downgrade than an improvement which would just rile up a ton of the core fans which are the LAST people you want to piss off. Nioh isn't trying to be a game that has mass appeal if that somehow wasn't obvious
I really don't like stamina in Nioh. Sekiro and DMC reminded me how much I don't like those mechanics in games that aren't specifically dark souls.
Why does every Nioh thread fill the need to compare it to Sekiro and Dark Souls?
>improved what
Not even level design, a lot of the exploration barely matters in Sekiro, fucking ceramic shards.
Fromcucks are mentally ill and want every game to be like what their favorite developers make.
Well, that's your opinion and you're entitled to it. Stamina system is genius imo and it's what gives the game so much challenge and depth and allows for smarter enemy design.
Sure, you can play the game EXACTLY like dark souls without every touching ki pulse but you will run out of stamina much faster and overall have to play the game a lot slower, you're heavily punished for this while someone who has mastered the ki system can pretty much do a nonstop onslaught of attacks as if the game was something like Sekiro
Same genre
Nearly all of the options in the character creator are blocked out for me except for pre mades
Is it supposed to be like this or am I bugged or some shit? Game is ducking LIT bois
and soundtrack, and movement, and story and characters
not true. we just want games to improve upon their weaknesses instead of just doubling down and having less than 2 years development time for a cash grab converted DLC.
hollow knight is an example of a game that was inspired by souls but did things completely different and was better for it. nioh's combat system is pretty much the only thing that i consider to be great, everything else is mediocre to bad.
It's because it's just an Alpha. I wish we knew what the Yokai customization was like, that's what I'm the most hyped for.
>Sekiro
>soundtrack
It's an Alpha, it's locked.
Second female preset is all you need anyway
I'll take the same game again with some minor chances and new mechanics than a worst version
I'm curious on the story, I didn't give a shit about Nioh 1s story but i'm already interested in the story just from what the gameplay has hinted at. Nioh 1 was essentially a dude who happened to have a really unique spirit guardian who got stolen from him. Nioh 2 looks like we're someone who ended up getting killed and giving the ability to be half human half yokai. It looks like there also big significance on the short sword on our back which is what's used when we do final blows on standing yokai and what we use to activate our yokai trigger.
Yes soundtrack, it's good.
Female preset 1 is also a patrician choice
That's DaS 3 though.
Story is 100% guaranteed to be even less engaging or relevant than the first game.
I figured , thanks for the reply anyways. I just kept seeing people saying how awesome the character creator was and I was wondering how they could no if literally all of the options are locked out
To anyone that's played the game more than I have: is the male and female yokai devil triggers different or are they the same?
What level design? You just grapple and teleport everywhere.
>ninja gaiden fag praying that nioh gets forever canceled when it didnt live up to his immense autism and prays that team ninja makes another ninja gaiden game despite key members in his most beloved game have either left or have changed their style
They are different genres matchig the human form but they look the same regardless of what preset of the genre you pick
Speaking of character creation, although we can't use it we can look at the options and jesus christ. It seriously has no reason to have as much depth as it does, i'm not complaining i'm just really surprised. Also seems like we get to increase females breast size so that'll be really fun. Also, transforms seem to be returning, I just hope this game has a good cast like the first game (from a visual perspective anyways).
What makes you say that? I don't know much about jap history I just know that we'll likely get to see a lot more of nobunaga, hopefully even getting to fight him again. My biggest hope for the story at least is to have more interesting characters. Hanzo and Okatsu are the only ones that stand out as far as actual character and even then they're pretty 2D
What do these cute rolling animals do?
i mean gender...
Show an example of a bad soundtrack from Nioh and a good soundtrack from Sekiro
Fill your yokai energy bar so you could spam your specials into oblivion
The story is from 1555, so probably no Nobunaga
>buttblasted faggot who can't let go green texts a strawman to make the anal pain go away
Nobunaga is 20 years old when it happens.
one is getting a game
the other will never ever get another game
Shoo, shoo, discordfaggot.
they refill your yokai force. Best saved for boss fights or going into areas you know has a lot of enemies I think
Ah, I just know what people were saying and looking at odas wiki page it looks like he didn't do anything until about 1560
>What makes you say that?
Team Ninja is making it, the first one was a big pile of nothing and now it follows a player created character who can't speak or interact with other characters to the same extent that they didn't even bother to make use of the first time. It's just something you're gonna have to accept. Nobu-kun in Nioh's setting is portrayed in a positive light so he's not as entertaining as he was in say Onimusha.
Can we make loli onis though?
I wonder what the Yokai form variety will be. It's probably too much to expect that every spirit guardian will have a unique form, but I'm not a huge fan of what we currently have.
like i said, i never once stepped foot on discord
No, we know for a fact there's less yokai forms than guardian spirits.
I'm positive this wouldn't result in you dismissing the Sekiro example and denying the Nioh one.
In that case, knowing Nioh your character will give him the idea to take over Japan.
Have they said anything about a release date other than this year? How long did the full version of Nioh come out after its first closed alpha?
You reek of discord faggotry.
You know discord faggots according to this very thread.
Here's the face of ninja gaiden discord shitposters, everyone. Here's the creature hell-bent on ruining all action game threads.
Thank you so much for alpha testing this game for us, sonybros.
I could say the reverse about you. But you haven't posted anything yet.
>you help him during his campaigns with your crazy ass power
>you witness the rise and fall of people like Ashikaga Yoshiteru and Matsunaga Hisahide
>tfw buying the game + full dlc + all bugs removed + all updates for 30 bucks and then playing it at a superior 60+fps with full details and improved textures with superior, faster and more precise mouse input
just like back when games weren't released in alpha state with half the content cut
itl be better than serpico anyway
Oh you're that particular mentally deranged assblasted faggot. Still obsessing over me like a complete loser i see.
Like i said, again, i never went to discord, if i did i would say so because adhering to your mongoloid standards and norms are the furthest things down my priorities list as i made it clear time and time again, Now fuck off with your personal anal gape crusade.
which month this game releases on ps4? and how many months of exclusivity before the PC release , can i expect a december pc release ? or later date?
I don't like how the small knife replaces the weapon in almost every execution attack
Doubtful, when you looked at "yokai" options it only showed one for horn type and one for form or something which we don't really know how it'll change the look. The actual yokai form types have their own super unique outfit and color.
We already know yokai form is not unique to spirit guardian because each yokai form has their own symbol next to the spirit guardians emblem in the menu and on the hud. The tutorial also tells you that each SPIRIT GUARDIAN has their own unique attack that is used when you're in yokai trigger.
The only question is if we'll get more than 3 yokai forms in the base game. I'm hoping for at least 3 more but i'll honestly be fine if we just have the 3.
Funnily enough, the timing of the first alpha is very close to the timing of this one. First alpha released april 26 2016 and ended may 5th. The game released 10 months later. That being said this alpha is a lot more refined and polished than the first games and they already have a ton of the systems fully in place and likely aren't going to even consider changing them. I'm guessing we'll get a full release at the end of the year along with an open beta or two. They've expressed a ton at how releasing the betas really helped with development of the game and they took peoples feedback to heart, even after the game they added new stuff for free in updates, stuff we take for granted today and might not even remember not being in the game originally
There is no set release date. If anything some time next year with PC later.
I'm bummed this isn't a chronological sequel, I really wanted to fight wirriam
Nioh's problem is that it has bad music, it's that it has a repetitive soundtrack dissociated from the game. They repose the same themes for different things time and time again until you are sick of hearing them and they have nothing to do with what's happening on screen, they are just background music. Not that a brainlet fanboy like you would know better
I meant "is not that it has bad music"
Nobody is obsessing over you, sunshine. I just have a habit of checking the archive when i see a bad case of sperglordery, and guess what, it never fails.
Keep up the good work and you will enter the Aspergers pantheon already inhabited by the likes of FFXV-kun.
So which yokai form are you guys digging the most? Aesthetically and gameplay-wise? Aesthetically I dig phantom the most but I think I'd rather be using feral if only the guardian spirit with phantom wasn't so useful. I kinda hope they separate guardian spirit and yokai form but I can kinda understand the idea behind keeping them together.
No one except you and it's the most pathetic thing i have ever come across on the internet. I seriously hope you are a dumb 12 year old.
William's been around, some time travel wouldn't be a big deal
Why, for exposing the mad faggotry of some sperglord? Well, stay frustrated, discord user.
So did they fix all the problems the first game had?
Post yfw DLC lets us have 2 spirit guardians again meaning we'll get double the yokai skills
It's just an asset flip where Oni transformation is the new Living weapon, they adresed nothing
Phantom in both departments, floating around just looks cooler, I love being able to mix and match my light and heavies in a combo (odachi main), and love like the teleport mechanic. Only thing i'm not a fan of is it's amrita attack or w/e it's called, the one where you hold heavy. It has really short range for a form that seems more focused on on ranged attacks
It depends on what problems you had. If you think ki/stamina and the loot system were big problems, you're shit out of luck and also retarded if you think ki is a bad mechanic you're actually just really bad at video games
t. fromsoftbaby
You're plan to "exposing me" is showing the posts i deliberately and systematically choose to mark as my own? Brilliant. The only frustrating thing about this situation is knowing that somewhere in this earth sits a retard feeling smug about his dastardly deeds that amount to absolutely nothing. If only you were a cute anime girl and not a spastic special needs child, this might actually be endearing.
I sincerly hope you're getting paid for that
I sincerely hope you get some taste. Why are you in a thread for a game you don't like?
Isn't the purpose of the absorb amrita attack more to buff up your Yokai shift weapon? Granted I don't know how long it lasts per amrita you collect but from what I recall charged heavy at the very least does doubleish damage of regular heavy and pretty much instantly charges if it absorbs amrita.
For fuck sake, I enjoyed the combat in the first game but everything else was half arsed which managed to make the game get repetitive fast
I didn't mind the ki system but the diablo loot was poorly implemented, didn't they bother to at least make the levels interesting and add in a bit more enemy variety this time around?
Why is it so hard for you to take criticism about your favorite video game?
The first game suffered from serious issues that don't seem to be solved in this one, i would've genuinely liked for Team Ninja to at least attempt to solve this mess but it's clear that they're just going for NIOH 1.2 Oni boogaloo
though desu the only real problems in Nioh are certain skills, magic, ninjutsu, attribute stacking being way too fucking op
anything else is either a non problem or can't be solved without making it a completely different game
>Enenra
Is there some gimmick I'm missing? It's just a sheer damage sponge. I've had no trouble with anything else so far but this guy kills me after I spend an eternity getting him down to half health
Anyone managed to find the smithing text for Shrine maiden set? I'd thought it would be with snek boss but I'm not having much luck getting it there. Does it drop from a specific enemy like Sohaya or is it an RNG drop in the twilight mission like Eccentric and Yoshiie's?
Nioh 2 is what Nioh 1 should have been.
Shit loot system is something the sequel should fix.
t. soulsbab
This snake boss is kinda bullshit desu
Yes, that's correct. I'm enjoying this and I enjoyed what I played of the first Nioh, however. Any advice you can give or is this thread only for bickering and shitflinging?
kek you don't even know for sure what Nioh 2 is going to be like
most real issues only become apparent after playing for 200+ hours into the highest difficulty
To get summoned, you have to beat the level first right?
bait it into attacking the pillars around the room, the roof will fall on its head and deal massive Ki damage.
other than that literally just dodge. none of its attacks are particularly hard to evade
>travel the multiverse
>fuck your 2 foot tall irish fishbird fairy waifu
Will has come a long way.
>didn't they bother to at least make the levels interesting and add in a bit more enemy variety this time around?
They're still buttfuck ugly and bland from a visual point of view, i'll wait for the full release to comment on the level design itself, but so far it doesn't look like they changed that much
>> 463436060
Well i rather have this "DLC" than any of the dark souls games to be quite honest.
Level design is definitely better, especially when it comes to enemy placement. There is more enemy variety too for SURE but some people are bitching because waaaah why didn't this game that's only been in development for a year and a half get rid of every previous enemy and just create purely new ones. Like I said there are a good amount of new ones and the bosses are as great as ever, the visual design of the enemies are great too imo.
And those issues are?
I agree but also, it's a single player game, you can play how you want. You don't need to abuse magic to kill enemies in seconds unless you're bad but like the game enough to want to continue through the missions. They did seem to tone down magic, there aren't as many spells that are pure buff/debuffs and both skill trees have more unique and active abilities. They also seemed to have balanced the system out a lot more with the slot cost on stronger spells. Obviously it's early in the game but even with a decent focus in magic, I can't really use much spells. I think right now I have like 10-12 points for magic and one strong spell, one that lets you revive for free after reaching 0 health costs 6 points for one use. A good amount of other spells cost 2-3 again just for one use. We also don't know if they're gonna keep the ability you got later on that let you apply buff/debuff spells instantly with no animation
Staying in front of him and using high stance attacks to hit his head seems to more ki damage and damage in general and just in case you didn't already know, when yokai have their health reduced to 0 you can just spam attacks which will interrupt anything they do until they release a yokai pool to gain back ki. There is also some way to trigger it to get into a downed animation where you can do specific stab animation for BIIIIIIIIIG DAMAGE!!!! just like dark souls
>Played both betas they did for the 1st game
>Participated in the survey
>Put 100s of hours into the actual game
>Bought and played the DLC
>Got the Platinum trophy
>No invite
T-thanks.
Alright, I didn't know about the pillars somehow, thanks buddy
I'm retarded, I thought you were referring to the 2nd boss. Enenra is a scary boss at first but he's really easy when you figure him out. He seems like he never stops attacking but there are large enough gaps between his combos you can get a hit or two in and have time to dodge the next attack. Like another user said there is a stage gimmick that lets you do massive ki damage if he hits a pillar and debris falls on him
>removed kusarigama
say it ain't so
I fucking loved that weapon
God, you are pathetic.
>And those issues are?
-Ugly levels
-boring and uninspired level design
-lack of ennemy variety
-Ridiculous amount of reusage of the environments
- Overwhelming diablo loot
- Unmemorable music
- Terrible storytelling and character development
- susbsequent playthroughs become grindfest and minmaxing autism
Literally the only thing it did good was the gameplay with the stances and the ki pulse mechanic
I'm using the hatchets in high stance, is this recommended or is there a better weapon I could be using?
>Overwhelming diablo Loot
I legit do not understand this criticism at all. All I do is sell the weapons I dont need and I get Items in exchange. Now my inventory isn't cluttered anymore. Is there something I'm not getting?
user is retarded. It's an Alpha, content is locked just as it was in the first game. The weapons they kept are the exact same as they were in 1 and the game also plays the same on top of being one big asset flip, the chances of it still being in the game as opposed to being out are astronomical in favor of it being in. lmao 2kat might be a different story because they seem a bit redundant together with the axes. If they were replaced with the axes then it was a shit choice, if they were kept along with the axes then it makes the axes feel like a waste depending on how many new weapons they add. Hopefully it's at least 2 more than just the axe but i am skeptical.
>-Ugly levels
not anymore
>-boring and uninspired level design
do you have anything more concrete to say? this isnt even criticism. why is it boring or uninspired?
>-lack of ennemy variety
enemy variety is good in the alpha though. remains to be seen if the full game fixed it
>- Overwhelming diablo loot
never was a problem
>- Unmemorable music
true
>- Terrible storytelling and character development
true but the story is just a pretext to run around killing shit, not the focus
>- susbsequent playthroughs become grindfest and minmaxing autism
aside from this being false, why would it be a problem?
That's it? Some ebin master troll you are. Get lost junior.
It's a retard baiting, alpha only has 4 weapons just like the first games tests.
The high stance thing applies to the 2nd boss, not enenra. That being said, when you do come to the 2nd boss the hatchets might actually have a bigger advantage than other weapons because of it's charged heavy attack throwing projectiles on every stance. If you haven't already, it's probably best to invest your skill points into skills that shorten the charge time you need to get max strength on your axe throws.
how do I kill this snake boss?
this shit is retarded. why did they make a multiple enemy boss, fuck sake
It's because unlike Souls games which only have music for the bosses (and a few zones) otherwise being complete silence, Nioh has music for the bosses, the levels, the maps, death, low health, specific fights against certain enemies, cutscenes, etc. But both Souls games and Nioh tend to have a 2 hours long soundtrack, which is why the different is more prominent. That doesn't mean it's a bad soundtrack.
soulsfags mad they didnt get nioh 2 - ark souls edition
Aim for the snake eyes first. Try also using some magic like life drain.
Not that user but hatchets are perfectly fine for ennera. I personally prefer mid stance for hatchets since High stance uses a boatload of ki and mid hatchet throw is a great poke when I'm not confident i can safely go in but as long as you can manage your ki well it should be fine whatever stance you prefer. Focus on keeping your distance from ennera while avoiding getting cornered, you don't have to be across the room from him but just make sure you have ample time to react to whatever he has to do. Combo chain? About 2-4 attacks from him, usually the first one and sometimes the second will miss so a good time to get hits in. Tornado? If it's the 3 shot you can block one if you're not confident in dodging it, if it's the 5 shot you have plenty of time to move to the side. Ground bombs? From my experience if you're reasonably far from him they tend to not even hit you so you should have the time to safely charge up a heavy axe throw. Cyclone form? Almost always preceded by a heavy roaring like action and always done after shifting to dark world after ki runs out, move back and side dodge that attack has pretty shit tracking.
>ugly levels
subjective and you're wrong
>boring and uninspired level design
Again, subjective and you're wrong
>lack of ennemy variety
Have you actually played the game yourself or watched a good amount of footage? There is a lot more enemy variety in the first level than there was in the the first games first real level along with there being a good amount of new enemies (5).
>Ridiculous amount of reusage of the environments
Non-issue especially considering it's a game set IN FEUDAL JAPAN. I don't doubt we'll get a lot more variety. It's not like the first two levels of the first game were that visually crazy or interesting compared to later levels as the world got more and more corrupted with yokai.
>Unmemorable music
Subjective and you're mega wrong.
>Terrible storytelling and character development
We have no idea how they're addressing it in this game, it has no cutscenes just like the first games demos
>susbsequent playthroughs become grindfest and minmaxing autism
Kind of but not really? I mean yeah there is minmaxing autism but they do change up enemy placement, give them new moves, and even add new items and rarities in later NG+'s. Nioh also does NG+ fairly unique in that you don't progress through the missions exactly the same, it's locked by region and you can do any number of missions in a region until you reach a certain goal that unlocks the next one. It's not really grinding. I rushed through the first NG+ pretty quickly being under leveled and just boss rushing which was really fun imo.
>Literally the only thing it did good was the gameplay with the stances and the ki pulse mechanic
You forgot god tier boss design and general enemy design along with the RPG mechanics
Fight him like any other Nioh boss, hit his back for double damage. But also use the pillars to water him and destroy his ki and apply the water debuff (if it's like Nioh 1, it makes enemies take more physical damage). Use your yokai form and skills. Wwear light armor so you can dodge and attack more often.
>DaS2 was even more of a copy paste job
yeah not even close compared to Nioh """"2""""
Thanks for the help, I beat him. Shame I missed out on Nioh threads back when it came out, Niohbros are good posters
>2kat might be a different story because they seem a bit redundant together with the axes.
Not at all, axes play very differently from 2kat. 2 kat is speedy speedy spam spam, hatchets are slower but it's unique mechanic is being able to throw the hatchets as projectiles, having them magically appear in your hand afterwards.

For fucks sake, there's more video games out there. Your comparison falls to pieces when you remove it from the tiny box you set it in. All of what you mentioned is common in other video games and is basic shit. Any soundtrack that becomes so repetitive that it turns dull automatically failed as a soundtrack which means it's bad at what it's intended to be. MGR's soundtrack is not just memorable because of meme potential, it's memorable because of the way it melds with the game and gives it it's personality, you know, SOUL. That's why when Blade Wolf shows up at the end and the game plays a single snipet of the vocals in his soundtrack it makes fucking icebergs melt, because that piece of music meant something, It's no different in 90% of any other game, or movie, music has always been a big part of what makes boss fights stand out and be memorable regardless of genre.
You're trying to hard to justify a developer or a publisher being cheap fucks. If recording more tracks is not an option than at least be smarter and make better and more sporadic use of them.
>MGR's soundtrack is not just memorable because of meme potential, it's memorable because of the way it melds with the game and gives it it's personality, you know, SOUL.
MGR is a 5 hours long game, dumbass.
They don't play that differently.
Sekiro ost is not exactly the GOAT, but fucking nioh isn't better
Go reuse the same theme for the next 5 bosses
thanks for letting me know you selective reading retard
You don't understand how a 2 hours long soundtrack for a 5 hours long game makes each song more memorable?
Rejuvenation Talismans and Anti-poison pills help. Killing all three serpent statues in the level also reduces the poison pools I think. If you have a corrupt/purity weapon or have a non-fire talisman you can mix that with ippon-datara's yokai skill's absurd fire proc to afflict it with chaos for a while. The attacks that you'll have an easy time punishing are either the snek horn charge(dodge to the side and free hits) or the sending the tiny snakes underground(just run at him and attack, snakes take a fair amount of time to get back). When it pulls you into dark world theres a small period where neither it or the little snakes move, so take that time to kill one or both of the little snakes. The condition to end dark world is to kill both little snakes and they do chunk his health bar a fair bit when they die as well as open him up to a finisher if you deplete his stamina while both are dead so theres no reason to go for the big guy in dark world.
See the last reply of my post here As for dealing with the snakes, I agree it's annoying as hell, the best bet is the abuse yokai skills and yokai trigger if you have it. Save yokai form specifically for when he brings them out, it'll make it a lot easier. Don't forget, you can ki pulse while in your yokai form which helps recover a bit of your health/meter so it doesn't run out as quickly
Just ignore the different skills and attack animations and range okay
No, because that's not what makes it memorable you fuckwitt, it's how it's used.
Go have no music anywhere else than bosses.
Where's my blood on sword flick animation from the first game's alpha? The spin still looks dumb.
If you have an expansive soundtrack for a small game, of course each song will be better tailored for each moment. Why do you keep comparing the uncomparable?
>they do chunk his health bar a fair bit when they die as well as open him up to a finisher if you deplete his stamina while both are dea
So that's how it works. Not that user but that's how I beat him last night, I went into yokai form, killed both snakes because they're bastards then mashed on him until his ki depleted and opened up for the finisher. Good tips user. Also had no idea killing the snakes did damage to him and I only theorized killing both took him out of dark realm
>Just ignore the different skills and attack animations and range okay
I will, because they are not enough to change my view of it. Stop being so defensive about every single fucking detail.
Why does she dress like that
I'm sorry, i was not aware of that infallible law of the universe. I was under the impression that talent was involved, my bad.
because she's pure, like an angel
>durr he hold 2 weapon that mean same as other 2 weapon
I hope this is bait, don't reply hoping I reply back because you don't deserve anymore attention for being this dumb/baiting
Niohfags are fucking insufferable
DaS2 literally WASN'T a copyjob. Its probably the least derivative-feeling of the 3, at least get "your" opinions straight
>Team ninja: Ayo senpai what do you want for nioh 2?
>Fans: Literally the same but more and better
>Team ninja: Ok here
>Fans: Thanks
>Retards: WOW NIOHFAGS BTFO
I asked in the last thread but didn't get an answer, does anybody know if this will be a free download for people who bought the PC version which includes all DLC? Or do we get some kind of discount towards it if we already bought the game?
OH WAIT IT'S EVEN WORSE, MGR HAS A 5-6 HOURS LONG SOUNDTRACK FOR A 5 HOURS LONG GAME, PROVING MY POINT EVEN MORE
youtube.com
Yeah it took me several tries to kick its ass, so I was able to confirm some things compared to Ennera who I just Yokai shift unga'd, The snake damage thing was the first thing I noticed since chunks of his health bar would drop when one died, which was painfully obvious since my weapon was doing tiny damage at that point. Retrieving my grave also gave me full Yokai shift and Yokai skill gauge so that helped test the stamina thing and the fight lasted painfully long enough to give me a second yokai shift.
Not too thrilled about that transformation. I was hoping for something more like pic related.
You have no point retard. You're literally supporting the fact that Nioh had an awful soundtrack and you are too dumb to know it.
I'm mean it's an alpha and in the email they said something about a survey for suggestions which I assume you get after beating all 3 missions
>spicy_food_white_people_comic.png
Thats what I thought they'd do with transformations too. Admittedly I was hoping for full Otani-style transformations like the ones we got more, and the scope of the actions/attacks Saika does when fused is more covered by the yokai skills.
Yep. it's funny, Yea Forums will shit on a game for not focusing purely on the core audience and changing too much in game sequels but when a game actually commits to it's core audience and only refines and add onto the previous game, they lost their shit because ItS NOt DarK soULs!!!!
nioh soundtrack was low key kino
Just Yea Forums being Yea Forums, is the same argument with fighting games, everybody hates when companies try to pander to a wider audience but when a game tries to please their fans it's "hurr more of the same, drones will eat any shit"
it had its bits, but god it got so repetitive
>game is heavily pandered for being too little content spread to thin over a huge play time
>sequel in large measure an asset flip of the same content
>this is ok now! That Yea Forums am i right?
I was not even particularly upset about the blatant asset reuse but seeing you faggots trip over yourselves to justify it and pull fraudulent non applicable comparisons instead of maning the fuck up and recognize it like the adults you should be has changed my mind.
That weren't yokai transformation, he just fused with his guardian spirit. And his teleport gimmick is covered by Phantom's glaive teleports that are much flashier anyway.
Still has terrible art design, an ugly world built out of stock props, a UI that looks like someone vomited on the screen and overdesigned edgy-teenager-notepad-doodle enemies.
No attempt has been made to change any of that because they're just reusing the same character models, all of the meagre enemy designs, the same stock props and textures and the UI and still haven't hired a lead artist. Even if the designs of the new enemies they add are well made they'll just be sticking them into a game next to all of their previous abortions which will look like an inharmonious mess.
Still has the same core problem with their random loot stats in that they don't offer build and gear choice. They just provide a long list of complete junk bonuses to act as "failed" rolls in a slot machine gambling system where you keep rolling a dice until you get 20% CCD.
Still has fundamental problems in combat design due to the sheer power of Lowstance>holdBlock>Dodge mashing as a universal defense option, combined with overly abundant and near unpunishable healing. That makes it far too simple for players to eject from a situation without feeling threatened, which necessitates enemies with ridiculous damage values as outright killing the player is the only way to threaten them. This could have been adjusted by increasing the recovery period and reducing movement speed of dodges while making healing slower and less available, you could then reduce enemy damage and still be able to pressure the player over a period of longer than 500ms.
Still has stances which don't actually do anything other than acting as a function modifier for different inputs, since the state of "being in" a stance means nothing at all. Stances can be changed instantly at any time with no cost and no restrictions on use, so the existence of 3 different stances only serves as a way of allowing 6 different attack chains and extra skill inputs rather than allowing for playstyle choices.
Anyone that says Nioh has bad art design is not to be taken seriously.
So how does the yokai core thing work? Is the special effect always active, or only when you use a skill?
>Yea Forums is more than one person
Woah
Okay, so a lot of people are crying about Nioh 2 not fixing the issue of enemy variety. Let's fucking break this down in comparison to Niohs first 2 real missions
>Nioh 1 fishing village
Here you fight typical human enemies, the mining enemies, and a couple of the bigger yokai. There might be one other enemy type i'm forgetting about but i'm too lazy to actually play through the level.
Total enemies in level (not counting boss): 3
>Nioh 1 Cave
Humans, miners, and big yokai return. New enemies that appear are the introduction of the bard buff enemy, skeletons, the wall yokai, cyclops yokai, and kappa.
Total number of enemies: 8, 5 being new
>Nioh 2 village
We get to fight humans, skeletons, larger yokai, miners, kappa, and fire head enemy. As for new enemies we get the goblin type yokai, the one legged hammer yokai, and the giant claw worm yokai.
Total number of enemies 9, 3 brand new
>Nioh 2 cave
We encounter skeletons, goblins, miners, wall yokai, kappa, humans, claw worm, big yokai, and slimes. In addition we get one completely new enemy, medusa snake
Total number of enemies: 10, 1 brand new
Now tell me, how does Nioh 2 not have a more diverse variety of enemies? 4 new enemies for the first 2 levels seems pretty fair to me, especially with how often they were used This also isn't considering the new moves re-used enemies got too
I completely disliked Nioh because it was too fast and frustrating for me, had to stop at the spider castle because I could not be fucked to try any harder
I also hated the ki mechanic that lets you get back your stamina instantly, to me it's just more gimmicky bullshit distracting from actually playing the game
What a shame but at least I won't have to hold my breath for the sequel
You can dislike DS2 all you want, but calling it a copy paste is false. The game has mostly new animations, graphics, models, textures, lighting, UI, sound/other graphical effects, enemies, areas, items, ost etc.
DS3 is more of a copy paste since it takes a lot of assets from DS1 and BB.
>lowstance + hold block
>this guy thinks he can comment on the combat mechanics when he doesn't even understand stance advantages
Kek
I feel sorry for whoever read your post in full
>Still has terrible art design
Literally stopped reading there. I can understand someone saying they just don't like the art design but to go and say it's outright terrible shows you not only have shit opinions but are very unlikely to change your mind on that opinion no matter what anyone says. Why join a thread for something you don't like?
>unironically making illations on the enemy variety of the final game based entirely on 2 mission sample when the same mistake was made in the first game
How about you tell me why anyone is supposed to take you seriously?
>This guy thinks the guard Ki reduction of mid stance is relevant next to the ability to cancel blockstun into a dodge and the dodge recovery into a block by just whacking both of them
Play the game scrub
>Still has terrible art design
Nioh has some of the best 3d representation of japanese yokai i've seen in vidya and full array of areas you would expect from Sengoku Japan.
You may dislike the period but it's not terrible in any shape or form.
>UI that looks like someone vomited on the screen
Clean the vomit off your fucking screen then.
In terms of UI it blows most ARPGs the fuck out. Especially thanks to having up to four quick slot sets which is something other developers should really copy.
>overdesigned edgy-teenager-notepad-doodle enemies
Oh, you're just a retard.
>They just provide a long list of complete junk bonuses to act as "failed" rolls
If only the status reforging was a thing
Oh wait, it is and you can even choose from multiple tiered variants.
>sheer power of Lowstance>holdBlock>Dodge mashing
Sheer power of getting fucked relentlessly and being sent to the nearby shrine?
Oh wow.
>ince the state of "being in" a stance means nothing at all
It's almost like stance dancing is something the entire combat system is built around and further incentivized by Flux 2 and certain Guardian Spirits.
In other words you've created a headcanon of your own asinine combat system and now want Nioh to follow it instead of being what it is.
>inb4 the same autistic wall of webms you spam every Nioh thread with
aim for killing its arm snakes in the first phase, you can kill them before they drop off in the yokai realm phase, and it will make that phase easier.
The odachi is fucking broken with the new parry. Against human enemies you can do parry -> full charge iai -> execution stab just like the katana used to do in 1. It literally has no weakness now, it's probably the best general purpose weapon against human enemies.
Looks like I'm going axe/odachi again I guess
First game lacked enemy variety in the first 2 missions in the first game, 2nd game improves upon it and not only adds more enemies but places more enemies in the levels more smartly.
Also, this is something we have no confirmation on but considering enemy variety was the #1 complaint amongst everyone who played the game, including hardcore fans who spent hundreds of hours into it, I have no doubt they'll keep adding a lot more enemies throughout the games campaign.
You know who I am because I'm the only person who makes a properly reasoned argument for the game's failings. I know who you are because you're the only faggot trying to defend those failings. If you're trying to tell me the game's visual design is pleasing in any way shape or form then I can't take you seriously and I'm not going to give you any further opportunity to shill the product for your employer.
"The game" in this post refers to a single game, because they haven't made another game they've just shuffled some prefab box rooms around and put a 2 on the end of it
>this Magatsu Warrior in the twilight mission with 4 swords
holy shit
can you only parry human enemies in Nioh 2 still?
If the answer is yes it's still a shit game
Fuck off dude, why are you seething that they didn't completely remake the game to cater to your tastes? If you didn't like the first game then you won't like this game. Everybody I know who likes Nioh just wanted a bigger second game with more variety and that's what they're making.
>give sudama dung ball
>it kills me
Lmal
>properly reasoned argument
No, your argument is "why isn't everything is following my retarded headcanons for how everything should be".
>you're the only faggot trying to defend those failings
You're getting laughed at by 4 different people in this thread alone. Take pills.
>f you're trying to tell me the game's visual design is pleasing in any way shape or form then I can't take you seriously
I'm sorry user, some people actually have taste unlie you.
So you're complaining that it's too hard? You're not the audience you want, sorry. Also, despite those issues Nioh 1 had a shit ton of ways to get around it if you abused magic.
user, why did you give this guy your time of day by reading his bullshit then giving it a serious reply? Do you really think you he will change his mind?
I feel like i'm retarded or something, I couldn't get the parry to work though thinking about it I might have forgotten text that says you can only parry in a certain stance? But yeah it does sound broken the way you put it. I'm not sure how they could balance it other than doing something like if you tap block and miss the parry, getting hit you suffer more damage?
I gave it a golden dung ball and it actually rewarded me with like 4 items iirc, not like amazing items or anything but still neat
>give him a small soul stone
>he shits out like 10 of them
>give the same to another one
>he kills me
???????
It's medium stance only. The timing is tight but you can do it like Sekiro where you just hold block and tap to parry. So it's basically impossible to do it too late, only too early.
What makes it busted is it's a guaranteed knockdown which is mondo damage against any human enemies
Man, the DLC yokai were so fucking good and challenging
>the one near a bunch of gunpowder barrels with yokai throwing shit down
They absolutely upped the "bullshit encounter design" part of 1's twillight missions
I have a lot of hours in Nioh 1 and I expect I'll probably still put a lot of time into Nioh 1.2 regardless of its apparent state, but nobody should be encouraging or defending this business practice. A low effort asset flip does not deserve to be sold as a new full price retail game and by clamouring for it you are asking to be cucked.
Wack. Why wouldn't they have made it an actual skill that can whiff rather than a bonus on the block button?
It's not an asset flip if you've actually played it or watched a good amount of footage
No one thought it lacked enemy variety in the first levels, it was only when it was revealed that that was mostly it for the rest of the game that it became an issue. Nioh 2 has the distinct possibility of being exactly the same. You literally, factually cannot say otherwise right now. Until the game is released no one can possibly know. There is no change to the encounter design whatsoever, it's exactly the same imminently repetitive set of 1v1 pull agro fights with leashed AI, don't bullshit me.
I hope you are right, truly i do. But the fact of the matter is that would require a good amount of work on their part, and the asset reuse displayed so far does not exactly inspire confidence. They did fix some of the complaints, I'm happy they fixed the ki sound effect since it was a personal complaint of mine.
I don't see anyone complaining about the enemy variety in Nioh 2 like you claim, just people expressing concern based on the first game. So maybe hold off on declaring mission accomplished yet lest you end up eating some Tengus and not the good kind.
Niohfags are insufferable fanboys devoid of reason but like i said, no one who says Nioh has bad art design can be taken seriously. The first game had many visual design issues but none of those were related to the actual art which was gorgeous.
>webm avatar fag
lol nice try but i'm not reading your garbage post
I'm a fan of the fucking Etrian Odyssey. I prefer a well-done sequel that retains the same mechanics over something that tries to re-invent the wheel and fails every time.
Has anyone been fucking around with the spear? It looks like it could be really fun with all the movement skills
Then i guess i win this argument by default. Thanks for playing :)
(you)
>Everyone who has webms is the same guy
wew
I loved Nioh 1 but what the fuck were they thinking locking DLC content behind so much grind? And then it bacame obvious you had to exploit damage with 1kat skills if you didn't want to spend a lifetime on the game.
Shame, I never even got to see Maria.
it's the literal definition of an asset flip
Guess you dunno what avatar fag means. That guy has been posting Dead Or Alive webms with all or almost all of his posts.
Dunno what you mean, I was able to get through the first DLC without having to get through half of NG+. That being said, I rushed NG+ afterwards and am still underleveled to be able to try the 2nd DLC...
t. man who heavily changed important mechanics and design from the Alpha to force simplification and imbalance because of uninformed feedback
You really think they would just take away kusari gamas lol.
Yea, there's too much going on at once for me to enjoy it, I just can't keep up with stance switching, ki breathing and dodging all at the same time
At least Bloodborne had the rally mechanic to make going aggressive the best option in any case
any good footage of the new enemies/bosses? Preferably by someone who knows how to play?
what are you supposed to give to the purple sudama?
Other than having fun playing the game, is there any point to farming or leveling in alpha? Will anything get carried over to beta or full game? I wasn't around for Nioh alpha/betas and only played a year or so after it was released
In this case i am, which is why he is so assblasted he has to resort to boogieman fallacies instead of real arguments. It's hilarious how easy it is to trigger someone once you make them aware they are continuously being put in their place by the same person. Unlike what he says though image posts amount to less than 10% of my posts in this thread or others.
Being aggressive is still an option in Nioh though, even more so if you fully utilize the ki mechanic so you don't run out of stamina nearly as much.
Not that I know of. It really annoys me they blocked recording footage natively from the PS4
Different items have different rewards though it seems semi-random. You can give it weapons and armor and it'll return one of the same quality and level but there are a bunch of stuff you can give, some stuff he won't like and will kill you for it
What does the cat do
I'll admit that I stuck with 1kat and barely switched stances, but I don't what the fuck people are smoking when they say the ki pulse is not good/gimmicky
Leveling up to try out new active skills and unlock effects for armor and guardian spirits. Other than that, no point if you've already beaten every mission. Nothing will get carried and stuff can and will change. In the first games demo tests, you got unique items in the full game for completing them. Dunno if they'll do it again, at least not with this closed alpha since invites were giving out seemingly randomly and would be extremely unfair to people who didn't get invited
lol this
You just answered your own question
I'd rather have a seperate ki mode where you just regen constantly at a moderate pace but get no chance to instaregen for big gains, there would have to be some work around for the stupid ass miasma bullshit but I would much prefer that
restores yokai meter passively (meter used for yokai skills)
They're just shit at the game. Ki system is what separates good players from bad ones, especially the players who use the ki skills to their fullest extent i.e. double ki pulse when you switch between two stances on a perfect ki pulse, dodging at the perfect time to avoid enemy attacsk AND getting a perfect ki pulse along with using the stance buffs you get for a perfect ki pulse (mid stance letting you block with no ki damage, low stance giving you a free dodge with no ki cost)
Nioh fucking rules and I am so stoked to play this. I wonder what sort of madness the Abyss will involve this time and I look forward to leaving out-of-depth graves to fuck up noobs
Using the Running Water passives to ki pulse by dodging is actually way may useful than doing a manual ki pulse
t. Way of the Nioh
>soulsfags
>ninja gaiden fags
>people that can't stand the loot are still posting here because they think that Koei is going to change shit
Why the fuck makes this game people so buttmangled. Like, it's just another game dudes. They are tons of other games you can play.
>They are tons of other games you can play.
No there isn't.
It was balanced around people that already beat the game and were waiting for new content to come out. I don't know why TN stuck with the loot autism since it's clear they don't know how to handle it properly.
>Cocks! More Cocks! In my hand! In my mouth! Give me more cocks to hold! Anyone who is not here for the specific purpose of providing me with cocks to stroke needs to GET OUT!
Cry me a river snowflake
I'm just hoping the Abyss comes in at launch or at WORST like a month after release.
Well yeah, no duh. Not having it automatically in the alpha test actually really fucked me up, it makes the game feel more sluggish. You forgot to mention stance ki pulsing though, which will actually return more ki than you would get from normal perfect ki pulse, especially if you quickly stance switch twice
The thing that fucks me up about the loot shit is that in the Nioh 1 gear literally LITERALLY did not matter because of the new rarity that makes your old gear irrelevant. You can beat the first playthrough perfectly fine only equipping what has better numbers and selling or dismantling everything else. It's such a non-issue
I had a similar opinion when I first started Nioh because the pulse struck me as extremely "gamey", like a mini-game based in the UI. It felt like it was taking me out of the immersion of the combat which should be based around looking at animations in the game world.
You'll get over that quickly though, because the timing is consistent and indicated by particles around your character. Once it becomes muscle memory you'll never need to consciously think about it and shouldn't ever have to check your stamina bar for timing information. At that point it does something which makes sense gameplay wise - Gives you the ability to keep offensive play going provided you can find the opportunity to attack and pulse without being limited by a stamina bar. The pulse is something you can consciously leave time for when deciding what you'll do during any opening and that gives you a choice between getting an extra hit in now or getting the pulse in to give you more stamina for the next opening.
It's a decent enough system, the fact that it makes sense is testament to the way stamina-for-attacking is a fairly pointless mechanic in Soulslikes.
those high lvl graves gave me sick loot thanks broheim
I have roughly 40 hours over multiple attempted playthroughs in this game and the mechanic not once clicked for me in any way you describe
It feels as pointless and annoying as the battle hype cheering thing in Xenoblade games, though at least there you can focus on that and not get buttfucked in the meantime
The loot shit requires a certain level of autism to enjoy but I really liked how much freedom there was in 1. I had a godlike 99 stam build in vanilla Nioh 1 that was amazing and I felt like a genius for figuring it out. If you're a brainlet just equip whatever has the highest numbers and then look up a meme build for endgame.
Who gives a shit? If I could play Nioh with fucking PS1 character models, I would do it, as long as it ran at 60 frames per second.
is that gif a gauntlet dark legacy reference?
The problem is the loot destroys the meta of what is supposed to be a an action game.
I'm gonna make a Nioh newcomers guide leading up to the open beta and full release of 2. Anything you guys think I should cover?
>Stances and blocking
>Self ki
>Enemy ki
>Weapon types and advantages
>Elements
>Ninja skills
>Onmyo skills
>Yokai Shift
>Yokai Skills
>Spirit Guardians
>Stat breakdown
>Gear breakdown
Anything else I should include?
If you care that much about "meta" faggotry in a mostly single player game just look up whatever the strongest meme build is. It's easy to avoid if you're too brainlet to come up with your own shit.
Custom characters is something I wanted in the original game, so I'm already happy.
>destroys the meta of what is supposed to be a an action game
What the fuck does this even mean.
>Still can't perform an quickdraw skill
Am I retarded? I couldn't do it in Nioh 1 and I still can't do it in Nioh 2, I watch plenty of people perform it instantly but for some reason it doesn't work for me. I'm used to pressing 2 buttons together really fast, I play fighting games, and I have no issue doing any other skills that require 2 button presses together in Nioh 1. Still can't instant quickdraw.
Help vet niohbros, I consider myself decent at the game but this is the one thing that i'm still stuck on figuring out
Character customization appears to be fairly in-depth though the options are locked in the alpha, we can still view them. I just hope we can actually create some unique body types that will stand out i.e. a big ass buff dude vs a purposefully tiny manlet
I'd recommend using Odachi with a lot of high stance swings and forcing yourself to pulse initially to get used to it. Pulse will feel a lot more rewarding with Odachi high stance because you get such a big chunk of Ki back and it's essential to use the weapon. Make yourself do it without looking at the stamina bar and it'll end up natural.
When you get stance change combos with Odachi the game really starts screaming at you to learn Flux since it makes so much sense with those skills that it'll click easily.
I still haven't played 1 but I bought the Complete Edition while it was on sale for PS4.
Is dual katana and single katana a viable build?
I wanna Roronoa Zoro it up.
You both sound ignorant of the genre. Also what "meta" means and the context in which it was used.
THE SNAKE BOSS IS FUCKING BULLSHIT
I'm curious if weapon set bonuses are returning or not, don't recall if any were in the first alpha test. I can't say if i'd be disappointed if they weren't in or not, I kinda dislike having people use the same gear to get specific bonuses especially when the bonuses are a lot better than gear without that property but those sets are what allowed people to create more interesting builds because of the amount the bonus gave compared to base sets
You must not be edgy enough, try changing your gear.
Ignoring the """subjective""" art stuff:
You realise your loot complaint entirely defeats itself since the effects people want actually depend on what they... want, right? Having multiple ways to reduce the RNG is a good thing as well and there is a huge amount of build and gear choice both big and small if you actually learn what the effects are.
Not only do low dodges leave openings between them, low attacks have small range and damage making it harder to get back in meaningfully. It's basically saying DMC's bad for being able to shoot things to death, even with this game having high damage issues. The healing is indeed much too fast thanks to people bitching before release, and it wasn't "necessary" back when Ki management was a much larger factor as opposed to damage management.
You fundamentally misunderstand the concept, design and appeal of stances. It's about learning to adjust your priorities in the moment to moment gameplay based on what you prefer to be using at each time. It's never meant to be rigid unless the player desires it and hasn't practiced otherwise.
Blocking in mid stance actually doesn't reduce Ki cost silly. Don't try to cite things based on assumptions.
Are you pwargaming? Your vids are cool
Ok mr game theory expert
Anything is viable, 2kat is technically the meta but it's a single player game and I can't say any one weapon is significantly worse than the others.
Hit it's head using high stance/downward slicing attacks or attacks that can actually reach the head like hatchet throws. Abuse yokai skills. When he gets into dark realm (when the snakes come out to play) go into yokai trigger to quickly defeat them without having to worry so much about getting hit
Nah. I have no experience in video editing but i'm so passionate about this game and there doesn't seem to be enough content creators for it explaining some of the deeper mechanics and strategies that aren't immediately noticeable
What's the point of salt when the yokai water pots do way more damage

How so? If you need help theres been multiple posts even in this very thread talking about how to deal with big snek but is there something specific about him you're having problems with?
I'm extremely disappointed they didn't revert their mistake and make that high stance only again. It's both too powerful and a crutch.
2kat is good, huh?
Sounds like a deal.
I'll main single katana and pull out my dual kats when I reveal my power level.
>build videos
Miss me with that gay shit
Really depressing how thoughtful posts like this always get buried in big threads. The masses ruin everything.
>How to cheese the game
"No!"
I don't typically care about build videos, especially since i'm not far enough in the game to use them but I just found the umi-bozu clip really entertaining and satisfying
where the fuck are the last 2 kodama in the 2nd mission and twilight mission
Maybe I'm reading you wrong but, you're holding R1 + O, right? When doing it from Ki Pulse don't press and hold both at the same time, do a quick one-two with R1 then O.
Get Kodama sense you dumdum.
>the effects people want actually depend on what they... want, right?
No, the effects people want are 20% CCD, CtA:Primary stat, Familiarity A+, Weaken Torso, Parry Disabled, Firearms Resist, CCA Increase, No Guard Break, and Running Speed.
The game is full of different stats with situational value, like status augments, skill break, high/low stance damage bonuses, final blow/grapple, quick/strong, damage from behind, High attack Ki damage and so on. The game then invalidates all of its situational stats by adding generic "hit harder all the time" rolls to the table which are mutually exclusive with the far weaker situational options. As a result there are obvious best stats that every player should be rolling for.
i hope you are samefagging because that post is absolutely retarded. You're allowed to compare games in the same genre, the only people that get upset about it are fanboys with fragile feefees. Complain about the shitposting that ensues, that's fine, but to question the validity of comparing both games is being facetious or ignorant.
Found him bros
Nnnnoooo!
You're supposed to only use Kato or Daiba-Washi!
You're only supposed to use SotC and Iai!
There's no good gear passives other than CCD!
Yeah it's R1+O, so you're saying tap R1, then press and hold O?
Nioh 2 is an easy buy when heavily discounted if you played the first game.
It's SO similar to the first (which got repetitive very quickly) it's absolutely not worth full price.
"Change the default sorting and use the mass select options on the categories with all equipment for the love of god. Read the entire screen and use the Help option."
>roleplaying
You have to hold both.
>those alternate yokai forms
Holy shit, it's like DMC V or something. I hope there are more in the full game
Got that, but they're not showing up on radar still
I got all the one on mission 1 easy enough. Do I have to do special shit? Hot springs related?
Yeah haha holy shit that's a good one. Blows my mind when people cry about lack of sorting or that the game doesn't explain what stats/skills mean.
>being a narrow minded minmax autist when the game is open to assload of fun builds and has an amazing combat system
Back to cuck shed
>Not cheesing every boss with the axe spin
Just make Ninja Gaiden 4 you fucking cowards.
How detailed are the female character's feet?
kek
>forcing Hayabusa to block with Janomecho's whirlwind only to come through it and deliver the fully charged Sword of Meditation
I wonder how many fun shit i still haven't tried in the game.
>the closed alpha is the whole game
imagine being as stupid as this
Only one I can think off that might be missed is the one in the poison swamp area, I think you have to break the first serpent statue to drain the poison hiding him. Aside from that check all the areas again, I remember the one I was missing was just on one of the side areas I missed in the same hallway the hot springs were in
Not really, the endless projectile spam and OTs change the flow of combat a lot. Also, they completely got rid of the light adventure game elements and connected map from NG1 in favour of a completely linear sequence of shit levels.
I enjoyed the first Nioh, and I'm loving this so far.
Anyone that disagrees is a big stupid dumb butt that smells bad.
A game which lets you choose between dealing 15% more damage with regular attacks in High Stance or dealing 20% more damage with all of your attacks and skills all the time isn't offering you a choice.
I could choose to play Nioh 2 with a shoe on my head while pretending to be an elf and singing Irish folk songs but that doesn't mean Team Ninja are an amazing developer for enabling me to do that. If the game's design doesn't genuinely allow for different player choices by giving different options their own niche then your "builds" are a lie and you're just roleplaying.
your autistic minmaxing is your own deal, some of us pick armour and weapons we like and skills that are just fun.
How about the choice of regaining Ki from parries or gaining speed buffs from dodge and dash attacks? Or recovering health in the Ki draining yokai pools, or being able to reflect almost all projectiles if guarded at the right time? There are far more options than you want to pretend there are.
>A game which lets you choose between dealing 15% more damage with regular attacks in High Stance
In early game and on low-tier rolls.
>or dealing 20% more damage with all of your attacks
In endgame and on high-tier rolls.
In other words: not only gear progression is a thing but progression of stats you can roll on your equipment is a thing too. There's a shitload of viable choices at each given point and you unlock new ones by progressing towards divine and ethereal gear.
The fact you don't understand this means you don't understand jack shit about Nioh. The fact you locked yourself in narrow-minded endgame meta despite the fact people created all sorts of crazy viable builds only confirms that you have autism.
>Team Ninja are an amazing developer for enabling me to do that
The mere fact you can get through high ng+ tiers by throwing rocks means Team Ninja is an amazing developer for enabling viability of even the craziest options.
>I don't know what I'm doing but smashing buttons randomly is fun
>Please don't tell me what I'm doing wrong because it's more fun to have no idea what's happening
Being an ignorant brainlet is perfectly fine user, I'm not going to stop you from playing make believe. However, the game would be improved if it offered real options even for the people who know how the game works, instead of fake options that only plactate people who aren't paying attention.
>he mere fact you can get through high ng+ tiers by throwing rocks
Huh?
yeah dude i beat nioh by randomly smashing buttons
One of the ethereal set effects boosts damage of rocks by like 5000% which also stacks with certain buffs and debuffs.
Negro please. You can clear the game with throwing the fire bombs.
the bosses feel way more damage spongy than in the first game
other than that it's great
>i only know how to abuse iai loops
>look at me, i'm so good at the game
You will be fucking bullied and ridiculed by any action game community you will try to worm into.
Sugoi.
hotarumaru's free regen on amrita gain makes the alpha a little too easy
That's not a bad thing though. The longer it takes to do a boss fight, the more you realize how well designed a boss is and the more skill and thought required to beat them. I think you're wrong though they don't feel any different.
it's early game and you don't have your diablo 3 damage multipliers
CCD and mutually exclusive damage rolls which only increase a portion of your damage appear on loot throughout the game. CCD is always better. The trash rolls like High Stance attack damage continue all the way into WotN and simply become "failed" rolls when attempting to roll the correct optimal stats. That's why end game gearing in Nioh is 99% a question of getting the correct stats to appear and not about player choice at all.
There are a couple of minor bonuses which don't have any objective Best-stat in their pool yes. Naturally they aren't very important, but yes you can choose between a few of them. Options like Reflect are available on accessories though which then makes the gloves version redundant. The point is this should be the general design philosophy for all of the gearing options, not a couple of low value rolls on 3 pieces.
>You can clear the game
woo?
That is why not only is he wrong and you're right in that it's unchanged, it being unchanged is a bad thing since they still need to have far more health. The Ki system alone lets you dish out huge damage.
What are the chances of the other weapons returning? Somehow I'm not too hopeful
>CCD and mutually exclusive damage rolls which only increase a portion of your damage appear on loot throughout the game
CCD start appearing significantly later compared any individual damage roll with only some weapon specific locked stats being exceptions.
Same for vast majority of truly powerful build specific things like x2 kunai damage.
>The trash rolls like High Stance attack damage continue all the way into WotN
And can be easily re-rolled with umbracite of higher tiers which is a mechanic you clearly don't know a single shit about.
>That's why end game gearing in Nioh is 99% a question of getting the correct stats to appear and not about player choice
Getting correct stats to appear IS the player choice since the entire system has a high degree of control. The entire system is tuned in such a way you can create all the craziest setups possible with ease.
i dont mind them not changing a lot gameplaywisebut
>virtually almost the same maps
like what the fuk? why is this allowed?
there was like 3 types in the nioh 1 alpha or beta or whatever
Is there a link to the feedback they're doing this for or will they email one out later.
I assume most stuff that was in the final build of the game will be in Nioh 2 but I really hope they reduced the amount of useless gear skills that were added AFTER the game. It seems like that's how it is right now but it's an alpha, not the final game so i'm sure plenty of skills and effects will be added in the full release. Just please, no shit like "+damage to specific enemy" and stuff that is always useful like anons are arguing about with close combat damage and shit.
its an alpha you fuckhead
spbp
>alpha
this word gets thrown around so much it lost its meaning
>virtually almost the same maps
No? They have similar ideas (first mission being a village with the 2nd half being on fire and second mission being in a dark cave) but visually they look different enough and more importantly the actual level design is much MUCH tighter and overall enemy placement is more interesting and challenging.
I assume they will do one afterwards
On the contrary, those effects add far more value than a paltry damage boost when you already do such huge damage. Reflect being on accessories means you can take all three reflect types at once. If you're arguing for them to remove a few of the overly specific rolls then that's understandable as there are a few that are too unreasonable, but don't discredit those that are already there, the options for rolling towards and building what you want, and how progression plays a big and necessary roll in it like in any system.
Can't really change the look of historically accurate buildings.
theyve given people access to test the gameplay changes and provide feedback, not experience the story.
Nioh 1 actually used the term properly for once and made changes between each version. So it's pretty ironic it was the one time they really shouldn't have.
>actually defending cta ccd famdam on every weapon
yikes
all 3 of these need to go
note that 2 weapon types were DLC in Nioh 1
very likely it will be the same - not worth playing, until 'GOTY edition'
>CCD start appearing significantly later compared any individual damage roll with only some weapon specific locked stats being exceptions.
What's the point of me discussing anything with you if you're just going to spew bullshit and post off topic gifs?
>annoying CLING noise to help retarded casuals learn how to kill pulse because they couldn't figure it out with just the light particles
Wow
I mean, soulsfags are happy with every melee build in 2 being a robflynn carousel and every melee build in 3 being a rof pchain shitfest.
I love Nioh 1, but its biggest fault its settings. Reusing the same setting is a deal breaker.
>On the contrary, those effects add far more value than a paltry damage boost when you already do such huge damage.
Damage bonuses are multiplicative.
Really, lads, if you care about the game and would like things to be better then this isn't something you should be defending just because you liked the game and have picked a side in some shitpost war.
I didn't even notice there's a sound to ki pulse now but tbf it is annoying having to look at your character or stamina bar to know when to ki pulse each time
RoF/PChain are boring rings, but they're a very minor part of a build and you still have 2 more ring slots. PvP actually being functional in DS3 means a lot of weapon/spell/offhand options have value due to PvP giving value to properties which don't matter in simple PvE gameplay.
I don't care about dark souls meta desu senpai
k
Has anyone figured out what the little symbol to the left of your gold and and amrita counters is?
Why
the gold and amirita symbols?
Anybody want my code for the Nioh 2 closed alpha? I noticed my email and saw that I received a code, though I don't know why as I never played the first game on PS4.
F7L?-?2NP-QM?Q
? = E
>RoF/PChain are boring rings, but they're a very minor part of a build
Those rings are literally 20% to 40% of your damage output depending on weapon. Back during DS2 lifespan they were slapped on nearly every melee build including the ones using elemental infusions since it still provided lots of raw damage.
>and you still have 2 more ring slots
And how many slots do you have in Nioh?
>PvP actually being functional in DS3
PvP being functional in DS3 means pchain and fap are even more valuable compared to pve runs.
bottom right, gold as in money, amrita as in XP. I have a symbol to a bit far to the left from them with a counter of 1-3 and have no clue what it is. I've also seen gameplay where people DON'T have those
Not working or already claimed, damn I wanna play it
Koei are hacks. They copy and paste games.
>Warriors series
The same game every fucking time. Even now they take other people’s franchises for the formula.
>Nioh
It’s dark souls for weebs. Miyazaki already BTFO Koei with Sekiro
>Their other games
Cash grab bullshit
Reading, how does it work?
Absolutely based
2slow nerd
these? they be skill points
Ah ‘tis seems I got beaten in a fair duel.. damn ye hag
__________________(you)__________________
Those are skill points but not what i'm talking about, it's a round symbol closer to the gold and xp. You probably don't have it on your screen, I have no idea what it is
I know what you're talking about but idk what they are.
He's talking about that circular icon/emblem with a counter that shows up immediately to the left of the gold/amirta counter on the bottom right of the screen.
Unpurified Soul Cores
Aaaah, that makes a lot of sense
I didn't say they weren't. I was referring to you trying to say those bonuses are minor and unimportant when they're all useful and add meaningful changes, it's them you're advocating for more of in place of the superfluous stuff to begin with. Damage on everything is too high, it's what makes any form of stacking look ridiculous, those doesn't make it the only option or even the best in some cases. But that's not what we were talking about here, and neither is trying to paint this as some stupid sides thing just so you act like you're not doing that when you're who just brought it up.
This.
I assumed we'd get maybe one for each element type. We already have one for Fire and Water, not sure what the Purple one is though since they got rid of the earth element along with wind. (Maybe its poison or corruption?). The only element we haven't seen represented is Lightning.
Also, this is assuming there won't be several (1-2 more) other forms for the same element.
what the fuck is this dlc meme? Is this one samefag spamming the same shit?
we already have confirmed shit like
>tons new weapon skills
>new weapon types with robust skills
>youkai abilities
>youkai transformations
besides the usual sequel stuff like a brand new world, new enemy types, all new bosses, new equipment, story etc...
this shit is already more than what the Dark Souls sequels offered and noone complained about those being just some "dlcs"
>das2 had power stancing and thats it
>das 3 had weapon arts (and no power stancing)
I'm not saying this as a mean to shit on souls, but it's ridiculous how some retards spam this dlc meme specifically in a case where the game offers more new shit than what average sequels do
this what? you think 1600 is near the beginning of the 16th century, too?
Has anyone got the Masgtsu Warrior's Soul core to drop? (The demon in the twilight mission with four arms) Man, this shit is Op as fuck I'm loving it
What his soul does?
Don't tell me you grow two arms.
what was nioh a copy and paste of?
So it’s basically an expansion?
>finally beat Yatsu snek after trying all day
>he falls to the ground
>just stays there and doesn't move as the boss music keeps playing
>can target him but none of my attacks hit him or do anything
>waited for half an hour and nothing changed
>have to close the game and do this fucking shit again
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Most of the stat balance, systems and mechanics were overhauled based on bad feedback leading to most issues with the current game cropping up or getting worse. Over the entire course of testing the only good changes made that carried over to the final game was some UI and sound improvements and more item shortcuts, maybe the item box size increase even though it just made people complain more. And I was leaving out things that would happen anyway but even those likely fall under that. There's a bunch of footage around still on Youtube, and they might be hard to find now but you can check the old official change lists.
Bro You grow two arms. Its pretty dope but its the most expensive Soul Core in terms of Attunement cost being 10, which is higher than both boss soul cores.
the fuck are you smoking, the level design is fucking great in nioh, especially in the alpha
the game doesnt have much music beside the boss battles but it's not like its missing it, still its new ost
the nioh1 enemy types were great, there could have been just more of the, something the sequel literally expands on
literally everything you said is plain stupid. Nioh1 had some problems but you aren't talking about any of that but just making stupid shit up. You probably haven't even played the game but just watched some stream for a little and decided you didn't like it
They fucking thoroughly aped Aria of Sorrow and it's beautiful, it seems.
Can you record how it looks like?
