Most slasher survivors are ordinary schmoe stand-ins for the audience, so there's nothing distinctive about them. Even protagonists like Sidney Prescott or Erin from You're Next fall into this category; they're just stand-ins for an audience that revels in cliches and likes to think "if this ever happened to me, I'd know just what to do."

You don't "need" the DLC, like you're not going to be booted from matches for not owning anything specific. You just can't play as that survivor or killer yourself. You can still even get their perks if they're on the Shrine which has a random weekly rotation.
Also you get "shards" from playing which are in-game currency, you can use them to buy killers and survivors anyway. I think the only restriction is that you can't buy licensed characters from movies.

You don't need to, but every character comes with their own perks that you can unlock for other characters. You can also unlock them in-game without having the characters, but only four (out of an ever-growing pool) are available at a time and you just have to wait and hope the one you want shows up, which could take forever.

Kind of. You don't have to buy any of it, it's all just more characters to play. The survivors all play the same too except they have three unique perks but you can unlock those perks on others through an in game currency. The issue is there is only ever four perks in the in game store so if you want a perk for a character you didn't buy you need to wait for that perk or buy the character. You can also buy both killers and survivors with the same in game currency but it costs a lot and licensed characters like Michael Myers or Ash can't be bought with in game currency only real money. New maps are free though.

It's not bad, but it can get old fast. I'm waiting for Ghostface to come out, he's supposed to be the next killer.

It depends on the killer. Still people don't generally recommend end-game perks like that because it's better to have something that will assist you in ending the game sooner.

Last time I checked in on this game, they just released the ghost nurse, and everything in the meta was favoring the players who could basically low-effort style and profile on the killer with minimum skill and effort required. Is that still the thing?

A warning though, Ash was released with an annoyingly OP perks and is now associated wit the kinds of people who use it so if you play him, you're likely to get tunneled. The perk is getting nerfed in the future though.

The timer itself hasn't changed as much as the killer's ability to close the hatch. Doing so powers the doors, but they can still spawn close to each other making it basically impossible to open one unseen, so if you're the last survivor, there's no more skill involved - it's sheer luck whether you get out or not.

A lot has changed since you left. Survivors have more tools in their arsenal now, but by and large the game is much, much more balanced than it used to be. The skill level has increased tremendously in high ranks, though, so you'll still get dabbed on if you're playing anything but the highest tier of killers.

kind of yeah. though you earn points that can be spend on any character you want, so you don't have to start playing a fresh lv1 if you dont want to. unlocking items and add-ons is ok, the most annoying part is wanting a specific perk and it not appearing on you tree after spending a million points on them.

The SWF (4 Players group) is still a problem because with communication + meta perks the killer will not have any fun even if he beat them up

Obviously it's not dead. It takes less than a minute to find a match that fills up. No need to abandon the game if it's fun.

His stealth is better but he can only stalks and expose one player at a time.

Obviously I'm biased but it sounds better than having to give away the hatch in most scenarios.
Most times finding the hatch first just meant that you could initiate a staring match with the survivor until he thought you were AFK otherwise he could just jump in after you hit him anyway.

I am addicted. I suck but I have tons of hours.... Its fun and I like the characters. I love classic horror films. F13 is ok, I personally dont like the gameplay as much, even though it has more objectives. I also dont kike that there are only 2 maps I think

Yeah this is actually something i enjoyed more in DbD at first. Like my first round of DbD was against the Dr. Went in completely blind, so his mechanic caught me off guard. However it kind of gets dimished when at the end of the day all the killers end up doing the same knocking you down and throwing you on a meat hook. Playing as a killer and not actually getting to kill survivors yourself (for the most part) is a huge downer for me.

Regardless most of my love for F13 comes from actually playing the game. It just felt more fun. Like I dont need this games to be super balanced or competitive. My biggest complaints with Friday was I wanted survivors to maybe be able to hide a little better and probably an even bigger point was I wanted Jason to be more sneaky.

I don't think you can nerf nurse without destroying her and I don't think either is that bad because the player needs to actually be pretty good at using them. At the end of the day one side is going to be unhappy in an asymmetrical game like this because both sides are going to feel like their skill at their role should decide if they win or not. Right now a team of perfect/near perfect survivors will probably only lose to a Nurse or Billy and I don't think that's necessarily fair to killers.

So basically the developers of this game are in business for 2 1/2 decades now, but their main source of income is licensed movie game shovelware and they're incompetent.
The past 4-5 killers are all unfun to play against, the game gets constantly rebalanced to make 1 side really annoying to deal with and it's plagued by bugs and glitches that aren't getting fixed for ages. Right now it still has an infinite loading screen bug that's unfixed for 5 1/2 months or around 165 days. This bug was introduced with legion's update and despite the fact beta testers reported the problem, they released the update anyway and never bothered fixing it. Plague's update 2 months ago brought a rank bug to the game that randomly deranks you or ranks you up between matches or restarts. The game runs like ABSOLUTE ASS on high/ultra and low/med make it look like a PS1 game. Ultra makes it look like a PS2 game. It doesn't have proper graphical settings, only presets and editing the config file doesn't do shit anymore. SWF is broken garbage and the devs tried to fix it by just buffing a really shitty crutch perk that takes 0 skill to use. Then they introduced MoM, another perk that's paid and OP and doesn't even work right against certain killers.
The game's a fucking shitshow and I wish I could get my 1100 hours back. It's an unfun, frustrating, broken, laggy, faggot, nigger game and I think they did a pretty good job so far.

"Light on processing", it runs like absolute ass, you need a 80th percentile 1060 6GB to get a 60fps lock and even then you're not guaranteed 60fps during the whole match cause certain killer's effects and map areas are really badly optimized.

I used to love DbD, playing cat and mouse was fun for both parties. It was great when you give a hillbilly the Scooby-Doo and have him run right passed you because you squatted at the right time. It was also fun when you were chasing some shit, turned a corner, and we're absolutely perplexed as to where they've gone. Looping is fucking boring for both parties but also requires zero thinking to do, and the devs absolutely refuse to curtail it. I wanted a game where you play as a horror movie monster since I was a kid, but I don't remember wishing for it off a monkey's paw.

No they made a new phase where if you dont leave the game after you open the gates you get speared through the ground by entity hands. Also killers can close the hatch, triggering this. You get 2 minutes to leave

Looping is only a good thing if you're a braindead survivor main, and allows for nothing. It just basically makes safe areas for survivors where the killer has to choose between chasing this guy in a circle for the next 20 minutes and letting the others do half the gens before he catches the shit, or just give up on him and go back to patrolling and hope he can catch the next person before they make it to the loop spot, because now everybody bee lines to the loop at the first sign of trouble. That's why all the best killers can instant kill like Billy, or shut down loops like nurse or huntress.

The 13 of each month is rank reset, also now you cannot lower your rank beyond 15 and most of the new people are at rank 20

To be fair, Friday had the opposite problem DbD does. Jason is brutally unfun to play against if they aren't willing to hold back a little and almost RP a little. Most of the time you'd get Jason players that would fly around with teleport like Naruto the hedgehog, appear behind you and instantly snap you neck like it isn't personal. If you had a Jason willing to let people go from time to time and would try to go for environmental kills it was pretty fun.

The whole game is a jewish trap to part you of your money. The Shrine of Secrets' RNG to have certain perks is probably rigged and earning shards to buy perks/non-licensed characters is very slow.

nah, there is pretty much zero loops in the game that allow that. but sure, making the decision to break that chase and go back to patrolling gens is also a play you have to think about, which might be good or bad. chasing someone that beelines and drops every pallet on the map can also be good for the killer. also if they decide to play a bad loop rather than making as much distance as possible, breaking chase and hiding, then that can be good for the killer, since you will down them. so, "only a good thing if you're survivor" isn't really true is it?

Ehh the teleport grab got nerfed pretty soon after release. Hell for a little while Jason was underpowered a bit and it seemed like the game was gonna go down the DbD path. Regardless i never felt like these types of games should be so hyper focused on balance and being super competitive. Jason being a killing machine added to the atmosphere of the game.

Regardless to my original point people in the DbD community seem to have this weird idea that F13 dying has more to do with the game itself and not the fact that the devs dropped the game. When in reality if that same shit happened to DbD i gurantee it would die out as well.

Its an ok game. Not amazing but it is only popular because it is the only decent game of its kind and it gets good hype around guest killers. If they had good competition they would get hit pretty hard.

Right now the only games I know of are a two mobile games and Friday the 13th which the devs left because they got pulled in over the lawsuit but they knew they would get pulled in anyway so it was more of an "out" date.

Survivor gameplay is boring and repetitive after a while. Yes you can verse good or bad killers and have fun but the gameplay has not changed in 3 years so most of the fun is in killer gameplay because you can choose to play differently.

Killers have different abilities that effect how they play and what perks they use. Survivors only have perks that all survivors can eventually use. Survivors are just skins so even though ash and bill are cool they don't change anything.

Personally I think survivors have it way too easy and there are too much perks to make it even easier for them. The only actual way for a killer to win a match of good surv players is if those surv players do something wrong.

Never hide. Just loop. Killers have to hook you three times for you to die. It's impossible for 4 survivors with even half a shared brain cell to lose. Killers can't end chases and hook faster than gens get done.

Just go for gens, don't ragequit, if you get hooked just stay on the hook. If the other survs are not braindead retards they do the same. Easy win, even without perks.

I honestly don't think this is good advice. You can only loop slow killers most of the time, any other time, you need to lose them, shake them off, and yes you do need to hide.

I'm not an expert, but there's no way anyone is escaping 100% of the time, unless you're some selfish player, that either waits for everyone to die, and get a quick hatch, or have a really good team. And even then you may have 1 or two causalities.

4/5 odds isn't necessarily bad, what you need to do is just focus on core gameplay, put on some offerings that UP your current playstyle, or just put on those 25% 100% all categories offerings.

Just try to have fun, don't rage quit, report face campers. Dying isn't so bad, if you played your game right you'll have at least 10 to 15 grand BP by the end of the match.

But if you really want to go balls to the walls in BP, level up your David King to lvl 30 and get We're going to live forever to level 3, and you'll swim in BP.

Get out of low rank. The game favours survivors. Even without MoM, DS, Adrenaline you can still win. It is impossible for the killer to chase and hook three times without every gen being done. You only die if the killer tunnels and you waste DS, or you're low rank with potato survivors. You can easily get to rank 1 perkless and itemless even with the new pip system and survive 70%+ of your matches.

for an easier time with survivor, you need to lvl most of the cast to 40, get their teachables, then lvl whichever character is your favorite to build all of the perks onto one character.

It used to be fun back in the closed beta and very early game.
No meta, there weren't any bullshit strategies yet for either side, people had fun playing insted of being pro gaymer wannabes.

It's really no impressive lmao, the only achievement hard to get is the "destroy 100 hex totems" one but only cause it takes a bunch of time, same with sacrifice 1000 survivors. Everything else is very easy to get if you actively go for it.

Urban and Self Care are always solid, but lithe, balanced landing, and dead hard are much better than sprint burst because they offer a greater degree of control for when you pop them. Spine Chill is borderline useless and is better replaced with MoM, adrenaline, lightweight, or borrowed time.

I dindt use sam, you can get banned if the devs notice you used it, and also it was hell getting all of the achiev. but since i like the game it gave me something extra to do and i enjoy it.

Devs do not ban for anything except exploiting prestige bugs and saying nigger in chat.

Nope. Get good at running. Any unskilled player can do gens or worse, spend the entire game hiding (ie being useless). The entire game is a race against time, and the time you as a survivor spend not doing gens or wasting the killer's time is time that directly helps the killer.
Do gens, save survivors, and don't be afraid of the killer. When he finds you, loop him into oblivion and waste as much time as possible while your teammates get the gens done. You'll get hooked, but they'll get the gens up and save you, and the killer will be busy wringing his hands and crying.
Just remember: when looping a killer, always know where you're gonna run to. Go from pallet to window to window to pallet to ect. Make them work for it.

Frenzy is way slower and cannot down people at all, it only works on the first hit. They then buffed movement and TR to standard so legions just another M1 killer now.

Killer main here. The game is great but the Survive with Friends option kills it, it was never balanced around playing with coordinated teams. The game is made with assumption players cannot communicate.

One tip if you can look out for opportunities to double back on the path you've already ran when being chased can work wonders in covering up your tracks. You got to find a spot where you're not in the Killer's sight and some other cover like a wall.

Anyone use the save file cheats back before they became impossible? I think last I did it on was freddy with 90 million bloodpoints and I had to manually level all the new killers to p3 and some survivors to 40.

If you're talking about Legion try to stay out of their terror radius. Once he hits somebody with his feral frenzy he can see where the other survivors are if they are close enough. Unfortunately there's not much you can do with a Legion who is running Thanatophobia since his objective is to have everybody wounded so the gens go slower. If everyone is trying to heal that's less time for the Survivors to get gens done.

You'll learn if you put the the time in. A Killer's real power comes from their add-ons, so if you can at least figure out what the Killer is running based on their behavior and you know the limit of their abilities it can make things easier since you know a bit of counterplay. It's why a good tip to learning how to be a good survivor is playing killer. You'll be able to test out fisthand how each killer works, unless you don't have them of course. Everyone's a shitter in the beginning, but it's all about being smart and lucky and not having potato teammates.

An interesting point about her character, even though they couldn't make her look like Jamie Lee the did go out of their way to hire her voice double from the original Halloween film, so in-game Laurie sounds just like Jamie Lee Curtis.

SWF should be nerfed in some manner to compensate for the communication. I'm not sure how, but in some way. I'm thankful that they finally stopped showing the killer's perks when a survivor dies so they can rat to their friends what exactly they got.

The impression I get is that it's also a lot of knowing when to be bait and take one for the team, if it means diverting a killer's attention for quite awhile. I also have that perk on where if I get mounted on a hook, everyone can see each other.

There will be killers that get mad for survivors using mechanics to kite the killer like looping or 360s. If not that then they get mad at survivors for using strong perks.

On the flip side you have survivors that will bitch if a killer does not leave the second they hook you even with his entire team right in front of you 3 feet from the hook. Then you have these stupid rules like respecting the 4% and not being able to go after them because they just got unhooked and you couldn't find their teammate.

The game pretty much became a "Us vs Them" argument.

It's drowning out actual issues of the game like how absurdly fast generators can be completed, how certain maps are grossly sided with most killers (The Game) or survivors (Haddonfield) due to their design, and how pipping has become a complete joke since you can kill all four survivors or survive all the way to the gates opening and just barely make it past safety pip since it's very easy to just classify legitimate problems as just "them" whining over nothing.

This is still the silliest news I've heard all month for vidya in general. I'm curious as to how Nurse or Billy will work at all.

One of the big issues with the game is that it just doesn't have enough knobs to turn to balance it.
>The survivors have only one objective. The only killer perk that delays that objective without any strings attached bullshit from the killer is Ruin, which (shockingly) is must-use on ever Killer in the game.
>Chases only being fair when the survivors are bad means that good survivors can completely fuck a Killer over by delaying him for minutes, more than enough to complete the objective while he's preoccupied. The only killers that can't really be beaten in chases is Nurse, and surprise Nurse is the best Killer by a huge margin.
>For some reason the devs just won't fix the chase and objective system meaning a large portion of the Killers are complete dogshit because the only thing they can do is ooga booga at survivors who can evade or delay them with ease. Trapper, Wraith, Pig, Legion, Freddy, Cannibal, etc, all basically useless.
>Survivors are boring because they're all skins with unlockable perks, feels unsatisfying to play different ones
>Survive With Friends just completely ruins the game for the killer who doesn't stand a chance against a team of Survivors with voice chat

Ruin and BBQ are "teachables", as in you need to level up the character who owns them to unlock them for the other characters.
NOED and Whispers are default perks and everyone has access to them in their rng perk tree
If you buy Hag and Bubba for Ruin and BBQ, and level up Bubba first because BBQ has the point bonus, you could easily unlock both of those perks in 10ish hours

Killer is way too boring in that game now. It's so damn easy, all the previous killer mains on twitch have swapped to like 90% survivor and only swap to killer when they are fed up with someone using a broken add-ons
