In the grand scheme of sonic media, it doesn’t seem too out there, like Sonic talked about molesters and smoking in the early 90s cartoons, but of all things why lgbt? If Sega made another one about STDs or mentally handicapped children, would I or anyone even get a reaction?
I’m trying my hardest to not bring politics into this, but it’s just so jarring for a fucking video game company to use their most popular IP to spread awareness of a hotly debated topic. Are there any other instances of video game characters “spreading awareness” of current issues? I follow Sonic’s twitter and they did something for world water day and international women’s day. Has commander Shepherd raised awareness for greenhouse emissions? Has Master Chief ephasised the importance of math and physics in learning? Has the Chosen Undead informed you that 767 million live in extreme poverty? Honestly it’s just really really bizarre. Something tells me it’s just trendy to be aware of social issues now and acknowledging them is a good PR stunt for a company.

I don't understand this picture. Why have the three non-flying characters flying in the foreground, and the single character capable of flight in the background?
This chart bugs the shit out of me. Because how can you claim liberals enjoy entire franchises? When the chart says "GAMES" not "franchises." And then it has franchises listed together an entire genre. "Fighting games" as a whole. So liberal people enjoy Guilty Gear, the same as they enjoy Street Fighter?
And then whoever made the chart, chose the Tomb Raider Underworld cover, which comes prior to the franchises more progressively slanted reboot. It uses Sonic's picture from the anime. There are two streetfighter images there for some reason. Couldn't come up with another fighting game example? And he decides on the less popular Before the Storm cover, rather than the first life is strange color, from the game everyone actually likes.
To top it all off, there's no indication where this image came from, or the source of their supposed data.
