Agreed. These were both escort missions that added something to the game. In Ico is was just fundamental to the puzzles and in resi it was necessary to break up the repitition a bit in the latter half of the game.

I think the best kind of escort quests are ones where they actually feel useful and not like a ball and chain you have to drag around everywhere. Like imagine if your character were a poor fighter but then suddenly you have a really tough guy that is very good at fighting and then you are attracted to them because of their usefulness.

keep treasures that can be combined with other treasures, you can make major wonga if you find the beerstein in the village and combine all 3 jewels with it

Use your knife and melee prompts as much as possible to save ammo. You can usually stun enemies with headshots/kneeshots and then run up and knife them if you're quick enough

Like that one user said, don't immediately sell off treasures. Some can be combined to give you more money than the sum of its parts. Use your knife/prompts when you can but don't get yourself hit just to try and save a few rounds of ammo, not worth it. Not every pistol is worth buying. Not sure how new you are to Resi but you can combine herbs for greater healing. There is a certain boss you can fight (after a lengthy and probably hardest QTE in the game) who is EXTREMELY weak to your knife.

Always shits me hearing people say that Ashley was a bad escort. I won't lie, I prefer it when I don't have her, but as far as an escort goes, you couldn't ask for someone better. I guess you could ask for someone who could climb down ladders.
