No way, it's the smoothest mechanically. Tripping only happens when someone with a fast spamming weapon like dual blades is next to you.

No it´s not too late. The expansion has a delayed release on PC anyways so there is more than enough time to finish the base game.

It's not too late. All you need is to get to behemoth and you're already caught up. Plus kulve taroth comes back often. plus you can mod in certain event quests.
From my experience it's usually fine, but some days you'll get dced again and again.

Ancient Leshen will soon go away from the Witcher quests, but I think you can still fight them with a simple quest mod that brings back all the special quests.
