As a Southerner/Texan, I couldn't stand the fucking accents of the black people in this game. It was supposed to be based on New Orleans. Black people in New Orleans have a very distinct accent that's different from anywhere else in the South because of the French influence. But the black people in the game spoke like they were from the Mississippi Delta.

I played AC Odyssey right after and holy fuck that world is lifeless and ugly in comparison.

No. They're both story focused, but 2's got mangled somewhat during development while 1's is pristine throughout. Along that, bunch of content meant for 2 also got cut and then cheaply repurposed for some terrible dlc, the original intended version of 2 would have been on par with 1.

The fact that he's getting job offers by guys like Sal Marcano and Leo Galante might imply that his father was a gangster, and his mother was a maid who got knocked up and gave him away.

I expected this game to be shit but honestly the story was surprisingly engaging. It's odd having Mafia suddenly put a focal point on racial issues, at one point i was going to say it's a bit forced here and there but i wouldn't change it because overall it fit the atmosphere and world they were dealing with, and it was handled in a compelling and sympathetic way.

A lot of fun missions too, and decent stealth and NPC AI made them even better. It may not have been a classic Mafia game but it was still great. The driving alone and the not New Orleans were perfect. As a big fan of the original and 2 there was too much here I loved here for me to dislike the game in any way besides minor drawbacks.
