From what SONY showed this gen with their half-assed PS2 efforts and no PS1 efforts they won't bother. PS3 software emulation BC isn't viable anyway would take too much effort, Q&A, R&D.

They'll just do the same thing as last gen:
Release one exclusive that's a masterpiece so everyone is forced to buy their console if they want to play it, then hope all the niggers and underaged can keep them afloat with internet-access fees for the next year before they release the "it doesn't explode during summer" version of the same console that features 1 extra fan.

Nintendo will have updated yearly rehashes. Xbox games will be on PC. Sony will have 1 decent 2 decent exclusives ever 3 years.

Just build a PC and buy a PS5 cheap at the end of the generation for the 7 games it has worth playing.

But Nintendo never had a system that was two generations behind. Wii was a gen behind, same with Wii U and the Switch. The Switch being a portable works even worse for your argument, since it's comparatively the strongest handheld device comparably to bigger console systems ever released - PSP was released around PS3 and was considered amazing, but was nowhere near as good as a PS2. Vita was released around PS4's time, but was nowhere near as good as a PS3. Same with Nintendo, none of their handhelds were ever close to the best in terms of power - Switch is the best handheld we had in terms of console generations.

They didn't censor. Censoring implies they did so out of their own. They simply added pantyhose to a single sprite in Smash so that CERO would fuck off, which was idiot not on Nintendo's side, but on CERO's, considering how many sprites or even 3D characters are running around wearing less.

I don't think a lot will change. Nintendo will be more or less out of sync with console generations given the Switch's release, which might end up taking a path like the 3DS. Microsoft could very well have another entire nothingburger episode, and Sony will probably do another repeat.

Not expecting any real innovations on the hardware side to come from anybody or anything cool for input options.
