ive never played this game. is it really worth my time? can't i just watch it on youtube like a good zoomer?
no. I bought a ps3 and the legacy collection way back when just to experience MGS after I stole MGS4 from a friend and was confused/intrigued. playing through the entire franchise was the highlight of my vidya career
t. actual good zoomer

>Wanted to use child soldiers
>"a little training, he'll make himself useful"
Yeah, he's Big Boss. If he actually disagreed with Kaz on putting the children into education then Kaz himself would throw a bitchfit and DD would be left in disaster over a fallout.
People can pretend to agree, even in video games.
Also:
>Only bothers with the animals for contract reasons
>He's initially after Skullface for revenge, not for anything else
>Locks Huey in a room like how Skullface did
He's a morally grey man just like Big Boss in PW.
Also
>shoves Huey in a bag without any question
>keeps him shut
>the moment Huey speaks again on the chopper he is shoved in the bag again, once again without any question
Yeah yeah, I know the context but he was at least a bit rude.
isnt there this fan made program for making mods for mgsv now?
if its still alive in a few years we might have the game kojima promised us..
I am still
STILL
mad about how unfinished MGSV is.
What bothers me isn't the stuff that was cut so much as how boring and light a lot of the stuff that's in the game is. I don't think you can blame that on the game being unfinished. Many of the game's missions (not side ops, the main missions) are rather thin when you know where to go and what to do. You could argue this about any game, but MGSV never reins in the player for something more focused that's enjoyable on replays. Most of MG1-MGS3 is fun on replays even though I've played each of them many, many times. MGSV doesn't have many missions I feel that way about and plenty I outright dread.
Yes.
::::D:
the absolute state of kojima fans. reeeeing before anything even happens
Daily reminder you will never ever get the game that red band trailer promised you.
>Game story was finished early 2013
>The only change since was two years later in April
Kojima finished the game, he was just lackluster and kept polishing all the details to a point where Konami didn't find him up to expectations.

Yea Im mostly upset at how stripped down the game had to be to budget in the "open world" aspect and even then the maps are both tiny and 90% empty.
Imagine if we got a half dozen or so Ground Zeroes tier maps plus extensive interior sections.
I don't think many people will contest that the main story was finished (Eli's plotline being the one unfortunate exception). But I have a feeling KojiPro intended for Chapter 2 to have more unique missions than it did even if said missions weren't going to be any more relevant to the story.

That mod you're talking about and the level editing suite being coded for Unity (i think) is still heavily w.i.p. and not publically released, but not private either. You can find it if you dig deep enough but it's still glitchy and extremely barebones. You can't do much with it as of yet.
No telling when it will be ready either because some of the same people that have been involved with MGS V modding from the beginning are in the process of totally rewriting some of the decrypting and packaging tools for better performance and more flexibility and extensibility, basically future proofing for when the serious stuff is actually possible.
A lot of talented folks are reverse engineering more of the game as well.
So far, for the end user, there's currently a mod loader, some major frameworks for other mods to build on and side-load content, namely Infinite Heaven, and a fairly robust, but simple, fan made mission editor for new side-ops creation, including a rudimentary route editor for creating new npc patrol routes and modifying ones already in the game.
Still to come are the next generation tools for handling more content, and the level editing tools.
If you haven't played MGS V before, get the PC version for what MIGHT be coming in the future. These guys are unsung heroes, imo.
As of right now, AI modification is still impossible.
I have no idea what might be possible in the future concerning .dll or .exe injections, or exposing anything baked into the .exe for modification in script.
Kazuhira "most of MGS V is filler" Miller
i wonder what the deal with chico was going to be. doc says he wound up in zaire somehow and that amanda wanted you to kill him. how and why?
A lot of proprietary middleware went into MGS V, which really complicates things.
The "level editor" being developed can load and work with certain models, but terrains are an entirely different problem.
From what I can remember, based off some blog posts by a former KojiPro LA artist detailing some of MGS V's work flow, was that the terrains were generated in the tool called "World Machine" (google it) and then further processed in 3DS Max, Maya, and then possibly Mudbox. Envionment models were sculpted in ZBrush and then processed through multiple tools the only of which I can remember is Mudbox, I'm assuming for paint and detailing.
I'm assuming any .bsp geometry and meshing was handled within Fox Engine internally.
Hmm? Nothing was ever said about Chico from after they cut him, but concept art of him from MGS V's earlier iterations heavily suggested they were going to retcon him as Frank Jaegar (Gray Fox) at one point.
I would have been for it personally, because they set his character up perfectly with his child soldier self in Peace Walker. Going through that trauma with Paz in GZ's events, being utterly mind broken, and then saved again by Big Boss later on and plausibly forgiven, into a life of servitude and devotion thinking he needs to pay back for his fuck-up that lead to MSF being sunk, that would have been within the expectations people had for MGS V leading up to release.
Get a better big boss image
Where are these from, friend?
in the doc it says "(Chico in fact survived, having ended up in Zaire, but Miller and the others consider him dead. Later on, Amanda discovers Chico in Zaire and asks Snake to kill him.)"
doc as in document?
What doc?
the documents in the post i first replied to
>retcon him as Frank Jaegar
I don't know if they were planning on this or not, but either way I'm glad it didn't happen. Chico's character being tossed out the way it was is kind of underwhelming, but if everyone on the helicopter survived by Paz it doesn't seem as much like a tragedy.
Gray Fox is better left alone lest we have another Portable Oops on our hands.
>cdn.discordapp.com
Yeah I'd like to know where these came from too exactly. IF it were legit, it's probably in reference to a cut scenario at what I would assume the "devil's house" in the game (just given the theme of the area and revisions of it through development).
Obviously Chico would have emerged at some point, and Miller would have his doubts, and Amanda would ask you to put him out of his misery in spirit with his capture in Peace Walker. Probably had the same outcome as in Peace Walker too.
Beyond that nobody knows a damn thing. Only somewhat plausible speculation is that they would have retcon'd Ricardo (Chico) as Frank Jaegar, alias and all.
We just get some bits of pieces of a whole story that moves, invisible, from the background (wich im pretty sure exist, at least on paper). All from Venom's perspective. There are only a few scenes that the game camera actually abandons Venom to show us something happening somewhere.
This obviously limits the information from the world the player is receiving making it feel like an empty story. Combine this with all the themes of 1984's doublethink, Venom being mentally ill, brainwashing and shit; and you end up getting MGSV
So deep.
It’s like they omitted the story on purpose instead of being too lazy
Personally I think it could have potentially worked.
His only major appearances were in MG 2 and MGS 1, and he was already beyond fucked up by the latter. Keep in mind Big Boss's bio changed between MG 2 and MGS 1 and then got a total rewrite for MGS 3, I don't think it's far fetched that they could retcon Fox's ethnicity and origin without changing his relationship to Big Boss or Snake.
The child soldier origin background would help justify and reinforce their relationship and his disposition both towards BB and Solid.
Po-Ops probably inflicted the most radical change on his character from MG 2 and Kojima had already expressed they took him in a direction he didn't agree with (another generic super soldier experiment)
I mean shit, I wonder if they could have potentially worked him into being TPP's brainwashed protagonist even.
That was a fan theory for a while; You're playing a puppet because it's actually Gray Fox (so it's cool)
But like if they were to do it, the only reason for doing so would be to explicitly throw out what Portable Ops does with his character.
>they could
Yes, they could. I just don't think it's worth it or particularly interesting. A lack of returning characters is the least of PW's and MGSV's problems.
>The child soldier origin background would help justify
It's already justified, though. Big Boss is a charismatic figure that rescued Gray Fox on multiple occasions and continued being his benefactor as both FOXHOUND commander and as the leader of Zanzibarland. It's not like there's something unexplained here.
Did Big Boss sleep with Big Boss in Outer Heaven?
Just imagine, Big Boss sleeping with himself. Sexy.
no you homo
Yes, you homo.
>You're my Big Boss, Big Boss...
>So are you, Big Boss...
>You wirr feer ashamed of your words and deeds
fuck off fag
How would Strangelove know where the bandana was
Why would it even exist after it likely got swallowed it in a river
There's not even a cutscene about it, all you have to do to get it is fulton the AI pod and blam, it's there without any significance
You have to "develop" that stupid fucking cloth before it even becomes unlockable, it doesn't automatically become available in your sortie prep
There's not even one single moment in the game that circlejerks around the bandana
Yet they circlejerk about the AI pod and Huey itself
>b-b-but "lovingly repaired"
Strangelove "lovingly repaired" it, you should have easily known that it didn't imply anything of importance in the first place
The game also makes it more of a gameplay-oriented than a story item considering how it reduces damage here, something completely unusual to do for Metal Gear considering it's not the infinity bandana either. Plus,
>Why would a normal looking handkerchief reduce damage
Clearly not canon, just a gameplay item for aesthetic and chickening.
>bullying Huey
>a bad thing
Huey deserves literally everything he gets and worse.
i want to fuck raiden
I've listened to the cassette tapes but I dont understand what Huey did wrong
brainlet
It is I, Mr. X!
Kaz deserved better.
were kaz and ocelot Friends ?
MGS 5 is good, good
It's not canon. How would a handkerchief ever protect you from bullet injury?
>no eyepatch mod
Into the trash it goes.
Kazuhira "if he dines on kfc he must be cqc'd" miller
Gay
Yeah me too user
You don't have to wear it in V, it's clearly not canon and you should have implied that given the other games
MGS1
>of fucking course it's fucking Solid Snake
MGS2
>of fucking course it's fucking Solid Snake
MGS3
>forces you to moments after you nab it from The Boss
MGS4
>of fucking course it's fucking Solid Snake
Peace Walker
>always has you wearing it, regardless if you threw it out because LOL
Ground Zeroes
>not there, obviously duh
The Phantom Pain
>you don't have to wear it at all
>nothing in the game ever requires it
>no cutscenes show it
>no tapes talk about it
>no mentions in promotional material
Once again, not canon in V to begin with.
